Well I have GREAT news!!! I hit the big goal at my WI yesterday!!!!! :D I was on a three week plateau and thought it would never ever change but
as of yesterday I lost another 3lbs....78lbs total since June 2000!!! Hey I found a great 1 point treat: 1 15oz. can of pumpkin 2 small packages of fat free sugar free Chocolate pudding 1 cup skim milk mix all together and refrigerate makes 4- 3/4 cup servings 1 point each!!!! comes out in a mousse consistency and is very filling...satifies the chocolate urge!! Bye for now all!!! Patty smiling in Michigan 303/225/185 |
PatriceK: Congrats on the weight loss. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself a nice reward.
Thanks for the recipe . . . I'll try it tonight if I have time. 2oM |
Hi,
I am new to the boards here and have been taking some time to read some post. :) Was wondering if anyone would mind if I joined this thread. I have gone to WW for so long it seems like forever. :( I am trying it on my own for a while. ;) I have several health problems that would benefit by my weight loss. (Diabetes, arthritis in knees, crohns......the list seems to go on and on) I seem to go for days and stay OP then all the sudden the bottom falls out and I find all the wrong stuff. I am a big time carb lover which really does nothing good for the diabetes. Hopefully with the help with this group along with the rest of the 3FC site will help me turn this around.:D Thanks for letting me vent Mary Ann  275/262/145 |
HI..
Maryann of course you can join this thread...I am glad to see you aboard...We all have those times where we do real good then all of a sudden...:nono: my downfall is usually going out to dinner with DH and losing count of points..but here's the trick...just forget about it and get right back on program...this has been the key to my success...I never stay down for long...I just get up and get back on track...it's hard sometimes but just remember those words we have all heard before:
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!!! So if you go off track don't sweat it...get right back on the next day...or even better the next time you eat! 2ofme...thanks for the congrats..I know this is not what I am supposed to do..but I did it anyway I rewarded myself with pizza....I just worked out harder the next day...I am waiting for income tax money and I am truly rewarding myself with some new clothes..I am tired of wearing baggy stuff.... I love having that problem!!! :^: Hanging in there... Patty  |
maryannb6: Welcome! I see we are both struggling. I'm in a Plump Slump, LOL. Lovin' those carbs, too. Isn't today the first day of spring? Isn't that supposed to help? Geez, let's get that motivation up!
PatriceK: Wow! Loose clothing . . . I can only imagine. And if I don't get my butt in gear soon, that's all I will be doing - imagining. Keep up the good work. 2oM |
Patti - Thanks for the warm welcome. :) The statement you wrote is hard for me to imagine. I cannot even remember being "thin". I think the last time was about 20-25 years ago. :o Geez thats pretty sad. There is one saying that I do try to remember and that is "What is to be is up to me" I heard this at one of my meeting a long time ago. I am trying real hard not to "beat myself up". I have a tendency to do that sometimes.
2ofme - Yes today is the first day of spring and they are calling for snow here (West Virginia) on Friday. :?: Go figure!!! Isn't it a shame that carbs have to taste so good. We CAN do this. :) Both - Thank you for your quick response to my post. It was a pleasant suprise when I got on my computer after work. :D I usually do not get to come here until after work but I can see this as becoming a place to which I will come FIRST. Can you tell I LOVE these little "smilies" Mary Ann 275/262/145 |
I am back!!!!!!
Hello all!!!
Welcome to the new faces!!!!!! Well i have been unmotivated and the kids have had me running for so long, i finally decided it was time for me, i recommitted and went to a meeting this morning!!!! It felt so good!!!! So i am back on track or atleast that is what i am gonna try to be :) I will post more later, cya Marion 252/228.6/126 :) |
Hi Patty, Mary Ann and Marion....
I'd like to join you all on this journey. I was on WW 2 years ago but stopped after I was tired of paying the fee to see only a pound loss each week. Now looking back on it I would have been at goal a long time ago... and you know I just don't know where that weekly fee I saved has gone to!!! In between the 2 years I tried Richard Simmons and Somersizing - but I need the weekly weigh in. I also gave up for a while but I need to do this to feel better about myself in general. Looking forward to chatting with you all. Kim 239/236.5/140 3/24/2001 |
Hi kim, and everyone else too!!!!!!
WEll i did it, i just had my first weigh in since starting and i lost 4lbs!!!! I got my butt out and walked too!!!!! It feels so good to be motivated!!!! Lets stick together and together we will do well!!!!!!!!!! Marion  252/224.6/126 :) |
Wow this thread is pretty quiet.... I thought there would be more of us shooting for 225. I went to weigh in yesterday and only lost .5 lbs (but I'll take it). I think once I start to move a little more it will come off quicker - but I am recovering from some surgery and still cannot get out there to walk like I want to. I guess for being at home for 4 weeks right next to the refrigerator this is pretty good. The day before the surgery I was 250 and now I'm 236 - so that's very encouraging. If I didn't make this committment to lose, my personality (and bad habits) would easily have had me munching out while resting at home. Hope everyone does well this week.
Kim 239/236/140 ....3/24/2001 |
Hi kim & everyone!!!
What a horrible long we i had, this one has to be better, hopefully no where near as busy........In the morning is my WW meeting, i will pos and let you know how i did this week. I will take whatever i can get for this weigh in, i know i didn't do my best, and didnt exercise even once. But this week will be better :) Marion  |
Hi everyone, why so quiet lately??? must be the nice weather..........well i did it went to my wi yesterday, and lost another 1.2, i will gladly accept that loss, not sure i deserve it but i will take it. Last week was horrendous, hopefully this week is gonna be better. Also the center where i attend meeting is having a contest, a walking club, so i bought one of their pedometers and am gonna committ to walking....think i can walk 1000 miles before snow flies next year??? Interesting, i will have to calculate approx how many miles that is a day or a week or something like that so i can set some reasonable goals for myself. How is everyone else doing???
Marion  252/223.4/126 |
New Member??
I am looking for the right spot. I get the impression everyone here has a chunk to lose. The board I jumped into before is welcoming but when one member said she had 7# to lose, I felt ... well, you can imagine.
I started with WW in 1969 the FIRST time and have been at it off and on ever since. I've been to goal twice and now can't even picture ever being there again. I know I have to set more attainable goals and this sounded like such a realistic spot for me. I know this thread is getting pretty long but hope you have space for another person. I've been trying to follow a copy of program that I picked up last year. Started again 4/1/01 and have until 8/31/01 to lose as much weight as I can. You see, that's the day I retire and my husband (is that DH? or what does that stand for?) and I will begin traveling for a couple of months. I know program has changed some for 2001 (my sis tells me it because members were not losing fast enough) but yesterday I weighed in at home and had lost 5#. Hooray. First loss of anything in over a year. I, too, need a place where I can vent...and I do tend to get wordy. Hope to stick with it for some time. And I can't wait (weight?) to try the pumpkin recipe! |
welcome no clue, you are very welcome to join us!!!!! Keep up the great work 5 lbs is a great start!!!!!!! you and i started just about the same time, so we can work on this thing together!!!!!!
Marion  |
Hi No Clue - Welcome!
My mom was in WW in 1970 and she just rejoined with me last month.... she cannot believe all the foods she can eat now on the program. She was thinking back to the days where she would slice one piece of bread in half and put tomato juice and once slice of mozzarella in the broiler for her own WW pizza. She is doing VERY well - 6lbs in the first week and 2.5 in the second. This coming Saturday is our 3rd weigh in. Hi everyone else - I am having a very odd week. I think my body is confused by what I am doing because it's never seen so little sweets....:) Last week I was a little disappointed to lose only 1/2 pound but I thought I'd just try NOT to get discouraged. This week we went out to eat at Outback Steakhouse (a killer for me), and then other social types of things. Each day I've been about 6-9 points over my limit and yet I am still at the same weight as last Saturday (thank goodness). I know my metabolism is shot and I am just trying to get used to eating breakfast again - haven't in about 25 years. I know I can't ask my family to give up their favorites (NONE of them have a weight problem at all)... but it is pathetic when I have to give my husband all the sweets in the house to take with him in his work truck. I really do lack willpower - no matter how much support I get. Anyone else struggle with avoiding foods in their house? Gotta Run - Kim 239/236/140 ....3/24/01 |
Hi Kim,
There can be no ice cream in my house ever!!!!!! It is my worst downfall...........so one of the things i did to help me with that, is i buy ice cream sandwiches for them, and the smart ones ice cream sandwiches for me. So far it works out, i get a treat and so do they. Okay i am off for a crazy day of running again!!! Sometimes i feel like it just never ends............ Marion  |
Thank You
This is where I belong-linking with someone who can remember the original WW. Say hi to your mom for me, Kim. There is a difference, though. I've been back several times so all the "new" foods make me realize there is no reason this couldn't be a lifestyle eating approach.
Thanks for the welcomes. We have a snow day here! Yippee! I got my exercise for the day shoveling the 10" off my walk and my neighbor's. Now if it just doesn't all blow over again. My husband is out of town and I had oral surgery yesterday - was supposed to take it easy for a couple of days to avoid bleeding. I forgot about that (because it really doesn't bother me) until I was 3/4 of the way done. But no harm done and it was good anaerobic exercise...I just can't do that at the pace I used to. DH and I take French lessons on Thursday evenings and I haven't done my homework yet. Guess I'll be working on that and some food preparation for the poker group he gets to host this Friday. But I feel giddy as a kid with a snowday!! I've waited 5 years for one, our winters have been so mild. Maybe the crocuses are crushed but we sure need this moisture. Kim, ask your mother if she ever made "oyster stew" . I remember that pizza and cherishing my 1/2 a banana a week! But it worked, too. Just couldn't do it for life. I have no resistance to carbohydrates, either. And I won't give up ice cream totally. I buy the small Ben and Jerry's and make it work for 4-5 servings. Sometimes it actually lasts for 2 weeks. It is my special treat. I like the idea of ice cream sandwiches, tho. I might try that in the summer, but I have no kids around to tempt me. Today, I think I'll try grilling some veggies on my George Foreman. I bought it in January when they were on sale everywhere and only took it out of the box this last weekend. Did chicken breasts. Not bad. We have a JennAire grill in the kitchen but that gets to be such a mess to clean that I avoid using it. Think I'll replace the grill attachment with a griddle. Whoops. Giddle only good for pancakes, french toast, and Monte Cristos! Don't need them now. Well, think I've successfully filled up nearly a whole thread! Later. Jody in Snowbound Cheyenne |
Hi Jody & Marion:
Jody - I know my mom NEVER would eat oyster stew.... but you are right about how strict and how well that diet worked. I believe she went from 190 to 130 in about 4.5 months. But then she got pregnant less than a month after hitting 130 and she gained 70 lbs when pregnant and never could take it off. She had trememndouse success on Atkins about 4 years ago - but like you said ... you need something you can live with for life. Eating meat, eggs and cheese all the time is ridiculous for life. Marion - I JUST bought ice cream sandwiches for my daughter. She's 4 years old and was trying to eat my skinny cow ice cream sand. But it's my husband who kills me. He has Resees PB ice cream in the freezer right now and in our cabinets are (Choc chip, Nutter Butters, Pringles, Doritos, lemon cookies, fudge stripe cookies - YOU NAME IT!!!! - and a full banana bread I made him on Monday!- because I can't stand to waste bananas that we didn't get to eat) He is very supportive of my diet - but since he doesn't ever CRAVE food he cannot understand why I cannot leave it alone. For 17 years I've tried to find his one downfall to try to explain the temptation.... but besides a Victoria Secret model living with us - I cannot find anything that would make him understand that I just cannot muster up the willpower to avoid my trigger foods. :) (Although I'm sure he'd be willing to try that experiment) :) My saving grace is the WW 0 point soup. I make up a huge batch and add white beans for protein and it really fills me up when I am ready to eat a high point food - thank God for microwaves!!! Hope everyone has a great day! Kim |
Good Morning Kim and everyone else too!!!
Fortunatly for me, hubby can stand to lose a few lbs too, so we just dont have to have that kind of food in the house...........And i like to think my kids are eating healthier because of it :) You reminded me i have to run to the store and get some skinny cow ice cream sandwiches, we are down to 1, with hubby and i both eating them, they dont last long.I am going to stock up the next time they are on sale, cause as we all know but have a hard time doing, we are in this for the long haul!!!! okay gotta go, i am doing the noon mom thing at my daughters school today, ttyl Marion  |
Irresistable urges
Hey, Kim. I know how bad it can be. If there is anything chocolate in the house, it's at risk when I feel overwhelmed. And once I start, I figure I may as well finish it off, then it won't be there to tempt me again later!! That's usually good for 2-3 lubs (what my college roommate and I called lbs). When I did have a child at home, I would try to keep his lunch and snack treats inaccessible. Of course, I was pretty good at cracking ANY safe, but his room was in the basement and usually keeping his special foods there kept them out of my range, so to speak. He wasn't really crazy for the kinds of foods that I craved so I never had to worry about him going overboard. If he wanted a treat in his lunch, he would grab it on the way out from his "stash." (I hope that's all he had in his "stash"!!) Obviously, this was when he was a little older, like 6th grade or so. Maybe something like this would work for your hubby's treats?
I didn't have such a good day today. I am tired, didn't plan dinner, we went shopping after our walk, then got home and made a non-program dinner. Not too sure how to count it but I know if I don't make the journal effort, it will lead to more slips tomorrow. Yesterday was pretty good, though. I fixed myself some spaghetti for lunch. I had a small jar of store-bought sauce and a zucchini and yellow squash in the crisper. I chopped up a little of the squashes, sauteed them with Pam, added some canned mushrooms (while water boiling for pasta). Then added the sauce to increase the veggie count for the meal. It was quick and easy and I got 3 servings out of it...lunch for tomorrow and one day next week, too. Marion, you are always on the run. How do you work out your weekly/daily menus? And, Patti. Wow! Inspiring weight loss since June. Now that you hit this goal, does that mean you won't be motivating us on this forum? (I gotta find those smiling faces. How do you do them? Maybe I'll just try  - see what I get.) Later ladies, Jody |
Hi jody
Your spaghetti sounds yummy!!!!!!! I don't plan much of anything as far as daily/weekly meal plans go, i just kinda wing it......works for me as long as i plan to have picky foods around that are within program......i am a grab and go girl, with usually somehting like a bowl of cereal or the like for breakfast, and grab and go for the rest of the day and usually a sit down meal like 4 days a week...........talk to you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marion  |
Hi Jody & Marion:
Well I went to weigh in this AM and I lost 1.5 lbs. Yeah! A happy pace of 1-2 lbs per week would be ideal for me. I had a pretty bad day today - lots of extended family stuff to deal with (which I always have a hard time getting past). I saw both my side and my husband's side today and I had 42 points today instead of a max of 31. I will have to be IDEAL this week ahead. Today was so bad because we had a family birthday party and the choices of food were (steak, sausage, green bean casserole, and a homemade salad with mayo.) I don't want to tell my husband's side I'm on WW because they are all thin filipino people and they will have the attitude (Oh again???) So I tried my best to eat small portions and avoided the sausage all together. Then because of the stress I had about 40 jelly beans tonight "just because". As long as I avoid the chocolates I should be ok - jelly beans aren't my favorite... but I shut my bedroom door because I could hear the resees peanut butter cups calling my name from the kitchen downstairs :) Good luck this week everyone. Kim 239/234.5/140 ....3/24/2001 |
Hi kim,
Congrats on the loss, i am doing the happy dance for you now :spin::spin::spin: !!!!!!!! Easter is so tough between relatives and the chocolate it just doesnt end, lol. So tomorrow i intend to let my kids eat till they puke, lol..........nah not really, but it would make it much easier for me if they did eat it all :) Marion  |
Kim, you did a great job. Only 42 points - and actually some healthy food included. I could easily do the 42 with JUST jelly beans and chocolate eggs.
I know what you mean about not telling people about trying WW again. I used to do "Wienie Wednesday"...on Wednesdays our local convenience store has 3 hot dogs for $1.00. One of the women at work would walk there (about 1/4 mile) for her exercise and buy hot dogs for everyone who wanted them. I usually got 2 and if I had walked with her, it wouldn't have been so bad ;). But when I told her last week, "No wienies for me" she was surprised. I just said I had lost the taste for them. She's thin and really criticizes the "full figure woman" so I'll just try to avoid the subject. I'll bet tiny filipinos cook some delicious foods when they do their home cooking. Tomorrow I'm going to find a new, healthy recipe to try if I can get my rear in gear :D. That will be our Easter celebration but I know I'm a little behind (and I wish I HAD one-lol). The Easter cards for the grandchildren are still in the store bag! Oh well. HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL. Jody |
Thanks for the encouragement ladies... Marion - did your kids puke? Mine is obviously just like her dad... who ever heard of a 4 year old saying "No I don't want any candy till after church" - I almost fell over. I told her she couldn't have any chocolate at 8AM but said if she wanted 2 jellybeans that was OK - but that was her response.
Jody - I love that hot dog story. Actually I work with all thin women except one - I am still the largest though! I've been out of work on disability for 6 weeks because I had some surgery and as of my weigh in this week I am about 20 pounds less than when I left. (And that's without any exercise because 4 of those weeks were bed rest... a good way to lose weight if you physically can't get to the refrigerator!) Anyway, I am going for a nice haircut, color and highlights this Thursday because I just need a change. I really didn't notice that much of a weight loss but today I wore a navy dress to church which used to have the lining pulling on me on the inside... not today - I could actually swing it around with no pulling!!! WOW - that made me very happy. Still steering clear of the chocolate here - but I have had 10 jelly beans today (that's enough). My daughter actually handed me her bunny tonight complaining that it was melting in her hands. She was covered and I had to clean her up - it was enough to kill me. This MUST BE what alcoholics go through when people drink in front of them. Have a great week - keep posting, I love to read your posts. Kim 239/234.5/140 ....3/24/2001 |
Hi Kim,
Nope no puking here, at least not yet, lolol. But i have to say they had chocolate at 9 am, lol. But what the heck its only once or twice a year!!! Tomorrow is my weigh in day, i am scared, i had a strange week, i didnt even come close to my points this week cause i didnt have time to eat, but i think my body is rebelling cause i messed with my metabolism. But then again, i won't know for sure unless i go..........eeek!!! Marion  |
Good Luck tomorrow Marion... better to face the music right? You can pat yourself on the back to at least know you went to weigh in the day after Easter! Let us know how you do.
We (my sisters and I) always dove into our candy before church on Easter.... (maybe that's why we all have a weight problem though 30 years later!!!!?) |
Peepsville
Peeps are BAD but quite a cult thing, I'm realizing. They have a neat website at www.marshmallowpeeps.com. And the factory is in Bethlehem PA. Is that very far from you, Kim? I am going to go there some day. I always thought STEEL came from Bethlehem; peeps give it a whole new image!
Anyway, I'm sure I had a couple of peeps too many today. It was a very frustrating day, starting with the hot water heater leaking all over the basement. I thought it only happened to other people, this type of emergency on a holiday. It's not so bad that it can't wait till tomorrow when we can afford a plumber (maybe) on regular rates! This kind of crisis always unnerves my hubby so it was not a pleasant afternoon. Fortunately we didn't have plans that involved anyone else. I weigh myself in the a.m., too, but didn't do a good job of journaling this week. A little nervous about what will happen. Inspite of the snow storm, we did walk 5x. That's my only hope. TTYL:dz::dz: Jody |
Where is everyone - was the WI that bad???
Jody - I hate Peeps!! Yuck!! My daughter loves them though. She traded my husband 3 purple peeps for 3 of her resees peanut butter cups - what was she thinking? I would NEVER trade anything chocolate!!! Hey I actually got out and walked 20 minutes last night - yeah! I am starting to get nervous about going back to work next Monday. I still get so tired in the afternoons that I usually nap for about an hour - think they'd let me do that on my desk? Bye - Kim 239/234/140 ...3/24/2001 |
Hi guys!!!
Okay here i am, its a fun and crazy week, we are trying to fit in some fun activities as it is vacation week here. Check this out yesterday i walked 4 miles pushing the kids in the stroller, it took me about an hour and a half, they had a ton of fun!!! We were walking down the side of a fairly busy road, so they pretended we were in a parade and waved at people for quite a while, one truck driver even blew his airhorns at them, they loved it!!!!!! As for my weigh in, well i went up 1.2, but not so bad considering. So this week will be much better!!!! WEll gotta go make supper, ttyl Marion  |
Howdy
For some reason, I was really, really tired yesterday...but WI was OKAY--2 lubs!! I don't have a digital scale so can't give you the fractions but it looked like 2 to me. I was delighted.
Just came back from my 35 minute walk. We've got the whole spectrum covered -20 minutes, 35 minutes, and 90 minutes - egads, Marion. Bet that pays dividends when you weigh in. Kim, can you go back to work just half days for a few. That's what I did after my back surgery. The first couple days, that's all I wanted to work. I was dragging. But it didn't take long to get back to full time. May I ask what kind of surgery you had? Tell me to buzz off if you'd rather not mention it...or maybe you have in an earlier thread. Sounds like you did great on the walk last night. Was it a pleasant evening? Today is really the nicest day we've had this spring. Makes me sorry I had to spend it in the office. So, going for our walk wasn't all bad (except I hate exercise; I know I have to work on the attitude). Have a great day tomorrow. Jody |
Marion: 4 miles!!!! Pushing kids no less - Woo Hoo for you!!! You must feel great today.
And Jody: 2 lbs and a 35 min walk... we're getting there! I did 28 minutes today and a little brisker. It was cold and drizzling so I wanted to get back before the downpour hit.... and it did about 30 min after I got back. My surgery was to remove a tumor on my ovary - it was benign - thank the Lord! I lost my tube and ovary as well and since I had a c-section with my daughter in 96, they tried to go through my belly button but because of scar tissue I ended up having another c-section. It was so depressing when I came home because at least the last time I had a nice newborn face to look into all day as I recovered. This time was worse though because I got an infection (the incision opened) and was readmitted through the ER about 4 days after I was home. But my husband and mom took care of me at home and the thing finally closed 2 weeks ago Sunday. This is one of my reasons for getting serious about losing weight. Dr. told me if we want another we must do so within the next year! Tick, Tick, Tick.... :) Well - I'm off to bed. My husband (Alex) and I just saw a movie alone for the first time since Titanic was in the theaters... We saw Heartbreakers - very funny. Goodnight. Kim 239/234/140...3/24/2001 |
