  • I dropped out really fast when SP came along...now it seems enough time has passed that I am willing to deal (plus I kept gaining!)...I've only been doing this for 4 days but I am amazed how much chicken or canadian bacon we can have for a relatively modest point value...And yogurt, wow - out the window...so I changed it up for 2% cottage cheese (with tomatoes or fruit)...I think I will be able to do this, but I agree that PP allowed me more of my trigger foods...(sugar!) One area I need to work on is reducing my coffee (because I like to put in a lot of milk). I am using genmai cha....but next, I need to find a tasty salad dressing.
  • I did Points Plus about 2.5 years ago and it worked well for me, as I have always been more satisfied on higher carb diets. I recently signed up for WW Online and have been having a hard time adjusting to Smart Points. I do like that overall it encourages healthier eating, but I am surprised at how much higher some foods are in SP than they were on PP. As someone who doesn't eat much meat (I used to be vegetarian and just can't eat a lot of meat anymore, either physcially or mentally), it has been hard to find low point meals that fill me up. Eggs with sauteed veggies have been my saving grace so far, but I need to increase the variety of things I am eating. Luckily I love fruit, so snacking isn't a problem. I am struggling more with finding filling meals that don't contain a lot of meat.
  • Yikes!
10 points for the little 230 calorie yogurt I brought for a snack today??? I guess I won't be bringing those again!!!
  • Did the yogurt have sugar in it or was it plain yogurt? If it had fruit in it you are being dinged for the sugar. I don't like yogurt but my husband buys plain yogurt and cuts up zero point fruit and puts it in the yogurt.
  • Yeah, it had sugar in it. And maybe (just maybe) one of those little side-cars where you can dump chocolate chunks and almonds into it. But still, it was only 230 calories! It probably would have been 5 (possibly 6) points on the "old" system, so seeing that it was 10 really shocked me!
  • They should be frustrated. There's nothing smart about counting points of a food you have a long history of abusing.

The entire point system is counterintuitive. There's nothing smart about counting points of a food one has a long history of abusing. Oprah Winfrey recently posted a picture of herself with Jalapeņo bagels, saying they're only cost "10 points." But for someone with a history of abusing baked goods those 10 points can quickly turn into thousands if they reactive cravings.
  • This is my first time ever trying WW. So far, I am liking the system. I like that nothing is off limits. I've previously tried Atkins, it worked well, but I'd fall off because I'd want a piece of chocolate, then because I'd have one, I'd want 100 more. At least on WW, if I have one today, I know I can have 1 tomorrow if I plan for it. As for yogurts, love th Oiko's Triple Zero Greek yogurts are only 3 points!

Started last Tues. Will see how it goes!
  • Question re smart points
I have been with WW for over 20 years and have been on lifetime, until just recently, due to death in family, cancer, and still on going medical problems with family, I gained , mainly from being on plane so much traveling back and forth. I rejoined yesterday.. I have put back on 15 pounds and figured I will start to take off now, as we all know it goes up and not down .

I went to meeting, I received Pocket Guide, Eat Better Book and Meet your Plan. I did not buy calculator... I do not want App..

    1. Is it suggested I buy calculator to find out the point value of foods? If so, will do Saturday when I weigh in.

    2. Should it not say in one of the books I was given how to figure out the
points , as if it is there, I sure do not see it.. I have been using an old Turn Around Points Finder Slide but it does not give me what I need for this new program.

Thanks for any help, as I am at a loss.. I actually feel stupid in a way.. LOL
