Thumbs up December Chat

Starting a new December chat.

I'm so looking forward to the new WW program. I've done a lot of research into it (information is at my blog that I link in my signature) and I think it is awesome. SmartPoints will be based upon calories, saturated fat, sugar and protein. Some points values are changing dramatically (like they have doubled). Most don't change that much though. I really think it will be a good program.

I had a really bad month for November right up to Thanksgiving. I just ate too much food. First really bad stretch I've had in a couple of years. I will go to the 12/6 meeting to get the new program info. There is a good chance I will be more than 2 pounds over goal and will have to pay. I don't like that, but if it happens, it happens. I've been doing well since Thanksgiving so maybe it will be OK.

How is everyone else doing?

The app is giving me fits. I am so angry at the redesign, even though it hasn't been working at all for me to be angry with. Why would they do this to us right at the holidays?!?

Yes the app is a huge issue. I've done some posts about it on my blog. I understand why they made app and website changes, but they have created huge bugs. The WW CEO apologized but they should offer a credit to people. Several have told me that if you call and threaten to cancel you can get a credit (I'm free lifetime so it hasn't cost me money, just aggravation).

Maybe I'm just a "go with the flow" kind of girl, but the problems with the website and the app haven't bothered me all that much. It's inconvenient, but glitches are expected when you're doing a total overhaul of a website and app.

I just can't believe how long it takes to log things that used to take two seconds. They have got to fix that part asap.

Ugh! Such a bad summer and fall. I made lifetime and just fell off. I'm back though. I've logged for the first time in weeks. I over ate today but I logged it. I plan on weighing in soon to see the damage. Glad this post is up.

I was thrilled to do a December weigh in at .4 down. The first few weeks of November (after my monthly weigh in) were awful. I really overate. But, I got back in control on Thanksgiving. This past week I followed SmartPoints and I was down 2 pounds today from where I was last Saturday. I'm really liking SmartPoints. It is an adjustment as some foods are really different in points, but I think it is much healthier and I like it a lot.

First day back on the wagon. Woo ho! Thinking I should post everyday for support and just to give accountability during the week. I'm excited.

Good luck. I think this is a great time to come back and really be on program. I've just been maintaining since June, but I still want to lose a little so I'm really looking for this and maybe losing a bit more.

Checking in hello everyone! Hope you all did well today. I did ok. I walked quite a bit and stayed under my points. Keep trucking.

Checking in again. Finally tom is over and I can control my cravings and exhaustion. I decided to hand write my symptoms and feelings this up coming cycle. I feeling like it's literally sabotaging my maintenance. My cravings and emotions are so insane during tom and I know i can get down to my maintenance weight if I were more aware. I'll write in tomorrow.

Good luck, habakuktwo.

I weighed in today even though I had done my December weigh in. I was down 1.2 pounds to get to 145.4 which is my lowest weight in over 20 years. Was really happy to finally break through my plateau these past couple of weeks.

That's great, Koshka!

I am still having trouble with the app - so much that it's making me bad about tracking, which has never been a problem for me. I am so frustrated that it takes so much more time now to look up each individual item from my standard breakfast. Who did they test this thing with anyway? Someone who has never used the system before? Sigh.

Had a good weigh in this week, but all bets are off for the next two weeks with the holidays, I'm sure. How much should I really expect to gain in the two weeks? I will have my normal foods most of the time, but we're traveling and there are things outside my control. I won't be weighing in until after the New Year due to travel. I am cringing at the thought of that morning!

I think it is possible to travel with minimal or no weight gain...but it is more difficult.

Some ideas for travel (I know they may not all work for your situation):

1. Look for opportunities to walk. If you have an activity monitor or pedometer keep track of steps. When I went to England for 2 weeks a few years ago I came back to a good loss because of all the walking I did. If weather is bad, trying walking indoors at a mall.

2. If staying in a hotel, check if it has exercise equipment.

3. If not, and you can't walk, consider buying a day pass to a gym.

4. When I travel, I try to eat minimal breakfast. I'll bring a Quest bar and eat it or maybe some cereal of my own (back when I ate cereal). If I eat a lower point breakfast, it really helps later in the day.

5. Planning really helped me a lot. The more I Plan the less problems I have. I know that not everything can be planned for when traveling but it still helps to do what you can.

6. Watch portions sizes.

Default jumping in, hope you don't mind

Hey everyone
Hope you don’t mind if I jump into the thread. I haven’t been on the site for a really long time but came back a few weeks ago with the (soft) launch of the Smart Points programme here in the Netherlands. Like many people I am mentally struggling with the points. It just seems that the points go so quickly! And I’m hungry. I don’t know what to eat anymore. I’m quite active (like really, really active) so my hunger is true hunger and not just cravings (I know the difference by now, I’ve been a WW member since 1999 and Lifetime since 2001 – I did gain the weight back and re-started in 2007, but I’m STILL not at my goal weight yet ). I just can’t figure it out!

I would love to have some new ideas, and hesitate asking because we don’t have a lot of products here like what you have in North America. So I can’t get “cheaper” bread or so many non-fat products. I used to do the flex points but am trying to stick to smartpoints for everything but I feel like it’s so little food! For example this morning I tried to eat more so I wouldn’t be so hungry by lunchtime and I was still ravenous at 11am! (I ate breakfast around 7am; 1 slice of whole wheat toast, light spreadable cheese, 1 soft boiled egg, 150g 0% yoghurt, 100g mixed fruit, 30g nut and fruit muesli, 1 teaspoon honey). Now I’ve split up my lunch which is just bread, turkey and light cream cheese (1/2 sandwich at 11:45 and ½ at 1pm).

I do need my carbs as I’m a runner and I don’t eat a lot of junk. So… anyone feel like helping out what seems to be (to me) a hopeless situation? I am 7KG (15lbs) over my goal weight (5KG over the limit).

I look forward to chatting with you all further.
