  • Maybe the comment "I tell her I hit a plateau but moved by it watching my sodium and WW really doesn't tell you to watch and since then I lost 12 lbs" was bit of red flag for your doctor.

Most likely your doctor is hearing that you are following a diet yet not really following the rules or interpreting them to fit your weight loss goal. That probably concerns her.

You doctor is listening to you, she just isn't really understanding what you are trying to say. Next time you see her maybe bring her a list of your meals for the week before so she can really understand your choices.
  • she's known I've been on WW...I told her the whole story how I hit a plateau and talked to my WW leader and in addition to WW I've been watching my sodium and calories...I even made the joke "its exhausting" she didn't laugh

whatever! I went away knowing what I know to do which is right for me! I'm not uping my calories that's for sure

You see this is one of the reasons I stopped coming to this forum for a little while.

Especially after my last post. This being counter supportive has to stop.

You are doing the right thing.

I wasn't being counter supportive or at least that wasn't my intention. I simply pointing out that it is difficult to be a doctor as much as patient. Sometimes when we tell our doctors something they misunderstand it's not that they are not listening.

In my opinion one of the biggest problems with medicine is we want our doctors to tell us everything is fine and our doctors are quick to point out our habits as the issue when really if falls somewhere in between.

I am sorry that I made anyone feel unsupported! But I don't think there is anything wrong with writing down your meals to better express your situation to your doctor.

    Because two things could happen:

A: The doctor realizes they were wrong.

B: They doctor can now express themselves better if they think there still is problem.
  • This isn't the first post that I was surprised by reactions. You are right, taking a sample menu in could be helpful, but her doctor needs to receptive.
  • I agree
and if I thought that's what I needed then I would of...the fact that I've talked to her about WW at least 2 times before is what through me off too because she's always been so supportive
watching my sodium and calories is not going off plan, I'm still counting points and tracking
I could tell she was off...but if this was the first time I met her I wouldn't of gone back

and I don't think you weren't being "supportive" but I truly believe she wasn't listening or having a bad day or something

but she did write me a note to move up my weight for WW so that was good-at least I got that!
  • I have to repeat myself to my doctor all the time. It's annoying.

But yay! You ended up getting your answer!
  • Sara, if you don't mind my asking, what weight did she give you? Where I'm standing, the weights for lifetime seem pretty low but who knows? I thought I would be smaller at this weight.

Do you go to the meetings? I am pretty irritated that you can't real lifetime on e-Tools, so even if I get down to that weight range, I still have to pay. I hope they change that!

I completely agree. I don't think most people REALLY understand the WW plan unless they are members. Even though I reached goal five years ago and I don't know what the "new" rules are. The fact that there are "free fruits" and no real restrictions on sodium can be red flags for doctors.

You are obviously doing very well by further inspecting your food choices AND you pinpointed why you stalled and got past it!
  • she wrote it for 155...I asked for 155-160
my goal on the highest is 137
I'm not stopping at 155 but I want to work for WW
  • Sara, one thing that impressed me early on: there are a lot of people who love the program so much that they want to work for WW! It's one of the reasons why I decided to give it a try, even though I felt like I was beyond the help of diets. (Turns out, I wasn't! LOL)
