Booooo...I don't think mine is working correctly, from 8-1 it said 910 steps only, and I know I went much more then that!

I don't think it counts when you take less than 5 steps at a time. Are you in an office or somewhere that you might get up a lot but not really go far?

I know it's very common for me to get to 5:00 and I've accumulated a total of 2,000 steps or so (which I'm trying to boost).

I decided to take the day off today, because I was getting a little crazy with the FitBit this week... I set my goal for 15,000 steps each day and I did 20,000+ on a couple of days so I could get that badge... And I did 115 flights of stairs one day to get the 100 floors climbed in a day badge... I was trying to go for the 125 floors in a day badge, but I just couldn't bring myself to climb another flight of stairs that day... But I'm gonna rest up and make another attempt at it soon... I did get my first lifetime badge for 500 floors climbed which has a cute little helicopter on it though...lol.. So I'm happy about that... And we'll see how I feel this weekend... I might go for a hike and try for that 25,000 steps in a day badge... :)

movielover 05-13-2013 09:47 PM

Grrrrr...I cant get 10K steps unless I actually go for a walk or run! I walk through schools ALL day!

robotfingers 05-14-2013 01:25 PM

Just got my Flex! Love it so far. :)

TripSwitch 05-17-2013 03:03 PM

Does anyone else not like the new dashboard design?

mittens 05-18-2013 10:50 PM

So can you buy a fitbit from a local store like Target or Walmart, or just buy it online?

mariposssa 05-18-2013 11:46 PM

I bought my Fitbit at Best Buy. I have read online about some buying them at Target; but haven't seen any in my local stores.

TripSwitch, not sure whether I'm a fan of the new dashboard. I don't hate it...but, I think I liked the old one better. Maybe I'll get used to it in time. There is a way to change/add icons or whatever they call them. But, the old style used to show what badges you earned for that particular day; not just the highest one you've ever earned.

movielover 05-19-2013 01:31 AM

I bought mine at Target!

Wait, what new dashboard? Mine looks the same! What am I missing????

I went to Disneyland yesterday and walked 18000! Not bad for a short little trip!

mariposssa 05-19-2013 01:41 AM

If you click on try the new dashboard it will upgrade you. But, I'm not sure how or if you can change back. I'm still undecided. But at least a small part of me wishes I had held out. Like the FB timeline thing I fear its one of those clicks you cant take back. :dizzy:

movielover 05-19-2013 02:10 AM

I am going to wait! HA HA!!!!!

mariposssa 05-19-2013 02:30 AM

Guess what! I just figured out how to change it back! So, if you want to click and see the new one you can. :D Then, just go to settings and the option for the new beta dashboard or the normal old one are there! :carrot:

mittens 05-19-2013 10:19 AM

Oh great. I'm going to run out and get one today. So excited! I think this will really help keep me motivated and focused on my weight loss goal.

TripSwitch 05-19-2013 01:17 PM

I did change back to the old dashboard for now... but I think they eventually will be switching to the new design for everyone and you won't have that choice... Oh, well... I guess I'll just have to get use to it... :( But I really liked the old design better...

movielover 05-20-2013 11:13 AM

I hate change...I am not changing until they make me! HA HA!!!

I have the Fitbit One. I love it, however I've lost it 3 times. I've lost in the car twice (seatbelt snags it off my pockets) and one outside in front of my mailbox (yes, I'm puzzled how that happened too). After researching wrist lanyards, I found one on Amazon and attached it to the clip of the Fitbit One. I haven't had a chance to lose it yet! It's also more noticeable when its in my pocket when laundry is being done... therefore it can be saved from the deathly water.
I haven't had any connection and sync problems with my iPhone.

Yay finally was able to get mine! Took me longer than I thought because my 8 month old decided to go through a growth spurt and has been eating me out of house and formula lol not to mention going up a size in diapers and clothes! Now I just have to wait for it to come in the mail...

The zip! I got it really cheap so I thought start off small and if I really use it and love it I will upgrade :-). Having and 8 1/2 month old and finishing up grad school really confines the family spending for a bit lol

Palestrina 06-05-2013 09:15 AM

I'm torn between the Fitbit Flex, the Ultra, or the zip. Or the Fuelband? Anyway, for those of you who have tried these I'm looking for:

- a wristband
- waterproof
- will tell me how far I've walked/run based on my stride
- pace
- calories burned
- will link to my iphone and LoseIt

For the wristband that doesn't have a display, does it link to the iphone and can the iphone be used as a display so I can look at it any time? Or should I go for the zip that can be looked at?

Thank you, so many choices!

Personally, I like the one. I like the display with lots of information, I like that it is a clip that I can put anywhere (I put it on my bra), I hate things on my wrist when I type, etc.

The app is cool on all of them!

ddovii 06-08-2013 02:51 PM

I really prefer the Fitbit One, although it won't give you everything you requested.
I love my Fitbit and it's been a big part of my weight loss. Whatever you choose, good luck and hope it's helpful.

I originally had the Ultra, and I liked it but the outer casing broke. When I got my refund, I chose the One, which I think is a newer version, and after using it a few months it seems better protected. It has a little rubber casing to protect it. Fitbit must have got tired of replacing broken Ultras :dizzy:

- a wristband

No, the One is a clip on like the Ultra. The Flex is a wristband, but I agree with movielover, I would find a wristband irritating. The One (or Ultra) is so tiny an unnoticable clipped to your waistband (or in your pocket).

- waterproof

None of them are waterproof, but they are water resistant (survives rain or sweat). I will say I dropped my ultra in the toilet (yuck! :o) and it apparently survived the experience, but I wouldn't chance it. I've heard forgetting to unclip your one or ultra before sticking your pants in the washer is a common tragedy, but if you use it for sleep tracking this shouldn't happen, because you'll always unclip it for that.

- will tell me how far I've walked/run based on my stride

Yes. The one has a default stride setting based on your height, but you can easily adjust it online if you have a particularly long or short stride. There are different settings for walking and running.

- pace

Maybe. It's recording every step at exactly what time. So you can see charts of how "active" you were with a step count during a particular hour for instance. But I'm not sure if the particular # you're looking for can be found for a custom period. May be a feature I've never used.

- calories burned

Yes

- will link to my iphone and LoseIt

Yes to iphone. LoseIt supposedly too, but I've never tried it.

Thank you so much! I'm now leaning towards the Ultra. I think wearing something on my wrist all the time might cramp my style lol especially since it doesn't even have a display so what's the point?

I used to have an Omron pedometer and I had no problem with clipping it on to my waist or keeping it in my pocket. It even worked in my purse!! will the fitbit work in my purse?

So basically it's a fancy pedometer.

The great thing about the iSmoothRun app on my iphone is that it uses GPS to track my distance - however it also tracks the altitude so the hills I go up are also measured into my calories burned. The bad thing is that it's an iphone so it's not doable to cart around all the freaking time when I walk around the house.

movielover 06-09-2013 01:05 PM

I am not sure what the ultra does that the one doesn't do, but the One is pretty cool and you can get it for cheaper now!

Koshka 06-10-2013 11:24 PM

I have the one. I almost always wear clothes with a pocket so I put it in my pocket. I like being able to pull it out and see the display.

DH just got the Flex. It is nice and in some ways more convenient since he can wear it night while I have to put the One in the wristband which is kind of a pain. He doesn't care that he can't just look at the display as he doesn't look at his numbers a zillion times a day.

The One and Flex will wirelessly sync with an iPhone. I don't have an IPhone but I do have an iPad and it wirelessly syncs with it. That is nice but the information you get from the app isn't as full featured as what you get on the website. Still it does show things like steps, calories burned, so it is good enough for just casual checking.

The One has the thing to measure how many flights of stairs you've climbed. I have a one story house so not very important to me. However, the Flex doesn't have that if it is important to you.

The Flex is kind of bulky and the band is stiff. It doesn't bother DH but I could see some people not liking it.

On the other hand, if I wear something that doesn't have a pocket then I have to clip on the One which I don't like while DH just wears his Flex all the time.

mariposssa 06-10-2013 11:47 PM

If I understand it correctly, the Ultra is being replaced by the One. The One is basically an updated version of the Ultra where they have worked out the kinks. The Ultra was less resistant to water, cracked easily because of the design, didn't have silent alarms and wouldn't synch through iphone/ipad bluetooth. It had to be through wi-fi, IIRC. I had both and when my Ultra cracked, Fitbit replaced it for free with a One.

Hello there -

I am looking into all the different Fitbits right now and am going for the ONE.

One question though: Are there any runners here? Do u bring it and does it work accurately? I use a Garmin watch but was wondering if I could just throw the fitbit in my fanny pack. The calories for the day must be off if I don't bring it.

I'm a runner and I train with Suunto watches now, but I used to train with Garmin's... I just clip my FitBit to my running shorts, not sure what putting it in a fanny pack would do as far as its accuracy is concerned... but you could always send of an email to FitBit support and see what they have to say...

tjjsmom 07-07-2013 10:23 AM

I have the fitbit one. I never take mine off except to shower. I wear it on my bra and I find it to be very accurate. I have several friends and family and we are all friends and every so often we do challenges to see who is going to climb the most flights of stairs burn the most calories etc. for the month. It motivates me to do more to get more steps in than everyone else.

If any one wants to add me I am listed under http://www.fitbit.com/user/22HV5B

Andee3112 07-20-2013 02:49 PM

Tripswitch thx so much for your advice and sorry for not getting back to you earlier.

Andee3112 07-24-2013 06:39 PM

BTW - picking up my Fitbit One tonight!!! I am not sure yet which color to get, we'll see.

Only bummer is that I can't sync it with my ultimate value diary app :(

PUPMOM5 07-26-2013 07:26 PM

I have the Flex and I love it to death, but I do think I should have researched other bands (Jawbone Up and FuelBand) more thoroughly WHAT they track as opposed to Flex, which does tell me calories burned and active minutes but in a pedometer kind of way.

Andee3112 07-26-2013 08:23 PM

At&T had the one for 69 dollars on sale!!!

joleystar 08-02-2013 09:35 PM

hey guys! i just got my flex in the mail (apparently it's a very popular seller). i had to wait half a month because it was back ordered. I'm super excited to give this bad boy a try! Anyone want to be friends? :o
