Default Weigh in comments irritate me

I hate the little comments WW.com makes when you weigh in. If you lose .01 pounds, the thing gets so excited it's like you just discovered the cure for cancer. Even if you don't lose anything at all, it's congratulatory. But holy crap, lose more than 2 pounds in a week and they insist that you go "talk to your doctor" about "slowing your weight loss".

I GET it.. I know why they want you to lose weight slow and steady, but dang it, when I lose 2.5 or 3 pounds in a week, I want to celebrate!

Yeah, I'm irritable this week. Stupid TOM.

ROFL I've never done weight watchers, but I'm glad I read your post because it gave me a good laugh tonight. I am with you on celebrating the 2 to 3 pound losses!

The thing is - they are clueless as they aren't doctors and even doctors aren't specialists in weight loss unless they specialize in weight loss.

I did weight watchers eons ago. It was then that I learned that I lost cyclically. At the time, I didn't have a scale at home, so those weekly weigh-ins were all I knew. I discovered very quickly that my pattern went as this: Stall Stall, Lose Lose. Stall, Stall, Lose, Lose. Which followed this biological pattern: Period, gearing up for ovulation, Post ovulation, post ovulation (or approximately).

Week after week that I would show no loss they would scowl at me. Then I might follow those two weeks up with a 5 pound loss and and a 3 pound loss the following two weeks.

I'm curious how it will be with this Biggest Winner contest that I've joined at my gym. I'm in my "won't lose" phase of my cycle (if I follow a normal cycle - perimenopause sucks). I don't want the gals to feel let down if I don't show a loss. It will happen eventually. It's just not always linear!

I think it's great that you know yourself so well that you've got a pattern down! I am still so early in my weight loss that it's coming off pretty fast every week. This week was only a half pound, but every other week it's been 3-5 pounds. I expect that as I lose a bit more, it will slow down somewhat and I'll start to notice a pattern.

I bet knowing your cycle makes it a LOT easier to deal with those "stall" weeks, because you know a LOSE LOSE is coming!

Good luck with the Biggest Winner!

That lose it app announces it to the world if you've lost weight! LOL! Even when you stay the same it announces it.
