Thumbs down Old Newbie!

I'm an old newbie in more ways than one ... the years are passing by awfully fast (and keep getting faster -- will be 52 in July), and I've made a stab at WW lord knows how many times. I know it all comes down to the WANNA factor. Ya gotta wanna, and I think I have finally gotten there. I'm going to try to limit my sugar and pasta intake, but not forbit myself from having it ... I think that's where I generally get into trouble. So I hope to get to know some of you and get plenty of helpful hints. I have over 100 to lose, so hopefully I'll be with y'all a while!

Adios,

Gail in WA

Currently 285; goal 155.

Default Been there ...done that!

Hi Gail ~

I know exactly where you're coming from. I've joined WW uncountable times since 1972. I first joined having a 'mere' 50 pounds or so to loose ...I'd get part way there, get over confident, quit, gain (more than before), then I'd rejoin and the same thing would happen all over again!

I joined (for the LAST time) 2 1/2 years ago, with 116 pounds to loose! I decided that I didn't want to be fat and 50, and I was going to get this weight off once and for all ...and I'm almost there ...down 94 pounds (I've reached my Drs goal, so I'll be lifetime soon!). I have another 22 to loose, and I fully intend to get it off ...I WILL do it this time. It's been slow, and I've reached a plateau or 2 (one lasted for almost 7 months), but I didn't quit, and I'm not giving up. It has been an enjoyable journey this time ...I'm doing it right ...I'm drinking the water, exercising and journaling. I feel strong and healthy, and am convinced that I can live the rest of my life eating this way ...I'm in it for the long run.

I KNOW that you'll be successful, too ...I wish you tons of success!

Yeah for the wanna factor Gail! You've got the right attitude...limiting but not forbidding!

It'll be great to see your progress.

Default Thanks for the positive words!

What wonderful motivation you have provided, loosinit! That definitely gives me hope to go along with my resolve.

And thanks, Kathy for the encouraging words. Been doing well so far this week and my main problem is the fact that the scale keeps yelling my name -- it's an obsession of mine that I simply MUST control.

Thanks again, ladies!
