Chatty - I've been busy researching Victoria B.C. DH is thinking of renting a place there for us for the summer so I need to check out the rental situation. We get bored of Denver and are trying different areas to see where we should have a summer home. Congrats on the OPness and get thee busy on the weekends so it's not such a problem, :D .
Terri - anniversaries and holidays are always hard. It must have been a bit scary for your mother, hearing his voice. Good for you tackling the ironing. I HATE doing that, though it's not so bad in the winter when you don't mind being near a hot iron, . And good for you for going to your meeting. I have promised myself not to miss one if I can help it, and certainly not when I expect a gain. That's gotten me into trouble before and led to another failed attempt. I had a good day today - WI showed another 2.8 lbs gone for a total of 28.6 lbs. The problem with today is I'm wanting to eat. I've been increasing the intensity of my exercising to get ready for some of the 5 - 10k races in our area. Normally it wouldn't bother me, I'd just dip into my APs and be satisfied, but tonight we are going out to dinner with some friends and I need as many points as possible for that!! So I may be downing lots of hot tea today  . Take care all, can't wait to hear from the rest of you. |
Hi
I haven't stopped in for a few days. It's been crazy at work. On Tues. night saw a touring company perform The Music Man. It's been years since I've seen it. It was FANTASTIC!!!! Makes you long for more of the "old" musicals. Of course, since we bring an elderly, couple with us to the theater that means I didn't get home 'til after midnight. Me, who trys to be asleep by 10, even on weekends. It's going to take me days to recover. :) I've been pretty much OP. Think I've lost a few pounds. Bra's are fitting better again. Snow is melting ... well a little bit. It got to 40º today and were supposed to see 45º tomorrow. Good thing the nights are still cold or we'd be floating away. A vacation in Victoria sound grand. I wanna go. Anybody heard from Jen? I sent her a PM last week but no response. |
Hi again,
I sat down thinking I'd make a long post. Looking at the clock, I only have a few minutes before Survivor starts. I did go to WW tonight for WI and it wasn't pretty. But its TOM and the leader said get over it!! I even stayed for the meeting. The message was "I think I can" thinking. Cynthia - Your travels sounds so much fun. I'm looking forward to being able to take some vacation time myself. Congrats on your loss. You're kickin' butt and taking names. J-Ann - I've been thinking of you - wondering if you were snowbound again. Good for you for having OP days and feeling the difference - do you still make it to meetings? I haven't heard from Jen in quite some time either - sure do miss our old friend. Chatty - Good to see you again. Looks like you're doing well too. I better get moving. Have a great evening! |
Good morning! Just wanted to drop in this morning and wish everyone a good OP day! Its the start of the weekend which means challenges for many of us. I'm making a vow to myself that I will make the effort to do what I know how to do - take control of my food. My sister, mom and step-niece are coming up tomorrow to spend the weekend. It will be a landmine because my sis is into comfort foods right now. So I've been strategizing with the DH about how I can not blow my plans completely. But I'm up for the challenge. :strong: I forgot to report that I was able to do 20 mins on the airdyne last night. My leg is doing great so I'll be bike riding outside come spring. I can hardly wait! Now, to just keep at it on a regular basis. :drill: Nothing else new or exciting. Seems like the weeks just fly by with little accomplished. Must be getting old. Have a great day! |
Hello! I am new, I posted under the WW General board. I have about 120 to lose. I am hovering around 270, but I was at 300 this time last year. I did Sugarbusters for a few months and lost 35 lbs, but gained back 5. I decided that I wouldn't learn anything from Sugarbusters because I HAD to have my POTATOES and pasta! Anyway, I am going to give WW a try. I am excited but yet I have doubts. I am going to my first meeting tomorrow night at 7 and I am also a bit nervous!

WELCOME AMBER ,
I think you'll like WW. It works for me as long as I stay OP (on program). Iv'e been struggling for quite a while but I know I can do this, and so can you. TERRI: Wow your time on the airdyne is getting longer and longer. Good for you! Can't wait to hear about your bike rides. Stayed home all weekend. Rained all day yesterday and turned the driveway into a bobsled run. Then the wind came up and the snow blew in. Back to shoveling and remembering that there's ICE!!!:o under the snow. BTW for those rush meals Lean Cuisine has made bigger dinners! Mostly extra veggie servings. I had Sirloin (I think) tips w/ roasted red potatoes in Dijon sauce with lots of green beans. Only 6 pts. and very filling. You might want to look into these. Back to work tomorrow. Shifted my hours back to 7A -3P now that it's light earlier in the morning. I hate to drive to work in the dark so I shift my hrs. so I arrive later in the depths of winter. Have a great OP Monday. I'll try to get here tomorrow night. |
Having a little trouble typing these days, cut my pinkie on a broken dish. Amazing how much you use that finger to type!!!! Plus DH has been on my computer trying to get his DVD system going, now that the big screen has been put back up (we use a projector, very small and easy to carry, to get a big picture for telly watching).
It's darn cold here today so I'll be going to the gym and using the treadmill. Looks like I may have to do that all week. I'm none to graceful walking or running on snow, and I think my park path is going to be snowpacked for the rest of the week. Oh well. Have a great week, all, and welcome Amber. |
I'm Here! I'm Here!
Hi ladies!
Sorry for being absent but the weekend got away from me with no time spent downstairs at the computer. I had a good weekend with my sister, mom and niece. My food wasn't completely within range but was much more controlled than ever before so I feel successful. I even went to a church social bowling event and bowled. My niece went with us and we had a blast. I haven't bowled in about six years. I used to bowl on a league but grew weary of the fact that most people were there to smoke and drink and be somewhere else besides with the team bowling. However, I do miss the activity - not the people. My inner thighs are still a little tender. :o We watched chick flicks while DH was in the bedroom watching he-man Cops and America's Most Wanted! We got a little more snow yesterday. This morning I got ambitious and shoveled the driveway before work. Nothing compared to what J-Ann has been shoveling but just about broke a sweat. Dang but its cold outside though. Cynthia - Ouch! Take care of that pinkie - fingers can be tricky about healing. Good for you to heading to the gym and not allowing the weather to be an excuse to not exercise. Change in routine will be good for your body too. Amber - Welcome to the group. Amen for potatoes!! Starchy carbs are a weakness for me. I'm also doing WW but I'm really trying to limit how many points go to starchy carbs. Good luck with the program. We're here to help. J-Ann - You need a box of Floriday weather. Sorry to hear about the ice and snow. The only good thing for all that snow is the killer back muscle you must be developing with all that shoveling. This journey is a lifelong path and you've done so well and have been such a good motivator and friend. Its hard to see friends struggle because we all know how it makes us to feel when we struggle. Maybe it would help to drag out your week one books and reread for motivation. Or maybe to jot down all that is going on when you make food choices to help you find out the root cause of your struggles. Hang in there and know that we're here to help. :grouphug: :goodvibes: Take care and have a good OP Tuesday! |
Here's wishing everyone lots of good vibes to have a great OP day and feel great about what we have accomplished.
Journal Journal Journal Don't forget to drink water Get up and move Plan your food Small things we can all do to feel in control. Let's make it a great day and ignore the frigid, snowy, wintry clime. :goodvibes: :goodvibes: :goodvibes: |

I Second Terri's Motion. Good thoughts Terr. BTW I'll take a box of that Floridy weather but no bugs....ABOSLUTELY NO BUGS!!! |
Hi ladies,
Me again! Just a quick post to say that I did the one mile WATP tape tonight. What a great all-over workout! I bought it last year about the time I had to quit exercising and never really got to enjoy it then. I'm off to discipleship class so have a great evening everyone! :strong: :smoking: |
All right Terri - good for you on dusting off that old tape. At least you will get your money's worth now.:)
Here's an interesting link to check out ,WW for men - M3. Interesting that these folks have a way to download point values and menus for their PDAs, huh? :censored: I wonder if WW is going to go to that 3 level thing with us next year, sounds like a pretty good idea. If you don't want to go to the website - the levels are: 1. Lots of exercise and some food. 2. More food, moderate exercise. 3. Lots of food, some exercise. They let the guys pick how fast they want to lose. Sounds like they have great ideas for non-equipment-at-home exercise. It's an at-home program and costs $125, but being offered in very limited areas. Okay, enough about that. My finger is much better now and I can type normally - YAY! Not really much going on, just chugging away at the exercise and staying within my points. OH! Got into a size 18 (don't see a W on the label) pair of jeans that I haven't fit into for a year, which is good since I was able to take the pair I was wearing off without having to unbutton or unzip (okay, so I really had to push them down, but it worked). Sunday I take my monthly measurements and can't wait to see them. Hope you guys survived hump day and are on to the rest of the week. :grouphug: right back to you guys. |
WOOHOO
Had a great WI today - down 7.2 lbs!! Got my 30 and 35-lb star. I think the work I'm doing with the weights has finally kicked in, as well as the increase in intensity of my daily walk (adding some spurts of jogging to it the last two weeks). Only bummer is now I'm losing two points right before going on a trip, but that's okay, :)
|
That is GREAT! :DI hope my weigh in goes good. I have yet to start exercising, but I am hoping to get in the groove next week when I don't have to work or go to class. It is spring break. I am hoping to go out there four days next week, but I am only doing cardiovascular stuff right now. I think after my first four weeks on WW, I will start doing weights. I weigh in again on Monday at 7pm.
|
Amber, I did wait until the beginning of my second month on WW to add in the weights. I didn't want too much too soon, just get some habits down, then start some new ones. That way I knew I would be able to fit it in my schedule. I think the weights are very important though, since muscle continues to burn calories while at rest, whereas fat does not. So the more muscle mass...
I finally found those Baker Breakfast cookies at a tea shop. They were $1.50 each and I thought that was outrageous until I went to their website and found out it would cost more than that to order a dozen :sp: ! If anyone knows a cheaper source, let me know. I think these would be great for trips. |
