Challenging myself!!!

  • Ok- it's here. This coming Sunday, I will do my first sprint triathlon. It's a 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike ride, and a 5k. I'm confident that I've done the training needed to do OK- not great, but OK.

    Half of me is crazy excited, and half of me is scared out of my mind. This race is only a mini-goal though, and I can't forget my big goal. Next July 8th, I will be competing in the NYC Olympic Length Triathlon. I know getting through this mini goal will raise my confidence and excite me for my upcoming training rev up.

    Thankfully, the weather is meant to be good (I was terrified after the 30 mile NYC MS bike ride this past weekend in 50 degree weather)- riding a bike in that weather is ok- jumping in the ocean- NOT SO GOOD.

    The race is at the Jersey Shore- water temps high 60's, weather should be sunny and 70's. I'll check in next week and let ya'll know how it went!!!

  • OMG I'm so excited for you! You're going to have so much fun! I did my first sprint triathlon in DC this past June and I LOVED it. I was terrified, but it was the most fun I've ever had. I do eventually want to do an olympic length, but I don't have the time to train for it right now. That's my goal for next year.

    I didn't care about my time, I just wanted to finish. And I did. And I became addicted.

    Just have fun The important thing is that you're there.

    The swim in the ocean was HARD. I was completely unprepared for the conditions, and swimming in a wetsuit. Must practice that before the next one!
