Default Canned Pumpkin

Hi Everyone!

Just curious but do we have to count canned pumpkin? I mix 1 cup in my oatmeal along with some Splenda and cinnamon in the morning. On the old plan 1 cup was 1 point but my leader told me it has a point value of 0. I'm assuming that's for the first serving and anything after that has to be counted.

I just looked it up on the points tracker and it says 0 for 1 cup.

Hey Kim when I searched on the WW site it says canned pumpkin was 0 points even if you have more then 1 cup.

And thanks you gave me a new recipe idea for tomorrow!

Enjoy

Not to steer this into a sweets post, but I'm pretty sure somewhere I saw a box of regular cake mix, and instead of oil, eggs, etc., substitute a can of pumpkin, add some spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and such) and you've got some lovely local spice muffins. May have been at skinnytaste.com...I don't remember.

Yes, pumpkin with a box of cake mix is good! It is really awesome with a box of devils food cake and a can of pumpkin (15oz). Chocolate pumpkin muffins - yum!

You can do it with almost any can of fruit and a box of cake mix - angle food cake and pineapple is really yummy.

Or pumpkin and spice cake mix, eliminates the need to add all the spices! I haven't tried it yet but my son is having a 'muffin day' at school and I was thinking of making these.

I started making my oatmeal with pumpkin (I used about half a cup of canned pumpkin with a scant cup of cooked oatmeal) a year and a half ago. Dang, is that stuff good!

Patchy - how did you make the lattes? I *love* the starbucks pumpkin spice lattes, but even at its most light I figured it out to have 7 points in a grande (so I am guessing 5 or 6 for a tall).

well I haven't done it yet but the plan is to use almond milk instead of regular, and then make our own pumpkin syrup with pumpkin and real cane sugar. They will still be high in points

You might be able to find pumpkin spice "sugar free" syrup tho! .... I have the regular stuff and used to use that. I'm just trying to avoid fake or refined sugars.

Ooooooo these are some good ideas for oatmeal, muffins, breads.

I made Skinny Girl's low (or no) fat chocolate brownies with canned pumpkin one time. They were so good I ended up binging so I can't do that anymore but the oatmeal idea sounds yummy!! I'm sure the pumpkin is filling. If I don't "fill up" in the morning I'm cranky all day!

I love Hungry Girl's recipe for the brownies and pumpkin, it taste like chocolate fudge! YUMMM!

Skinny Taste has a "recipe" for how to make your own pumpkin puree.
