Weekly Chat - Aug 5th - Aug 12th

FYI - I love you all!

I saw no weekly chat so i started one!!!

Lost 0.5lbs this week, not a lot... but a loss. TOM is visiting this week so it was expected. Working hard for a better loss next week. Totally motivated since i am officially in the 2-oh-single digits! (209lbs). Onederland is around the corner and i CANT WAIT!!!

How is everyone else doing?

patchymama 08-05-2011 02:53 PM

I had a dismal failure of a day yesterday so picking myself back up today :) I made a really yummy flour/sugar free banana pancake this morning that tastes just like banana bread. Its a good start to the day.

Going to the gym later tonight and then.... concentrating on not locking my kids in a closet *laughs* They are so... ready to be back in school and trying my patience. :)

patchymama 08-05-2011 02:54 PM

Also, mercuryblue I LOVE your new picture :)

catahoula 08-05-2011 05:28 PM

I did 2.4 this past week. I'm excited bc my leader mentioned that I should be to goal in a few weeks at this rate.

We were told this week we are getting yet another leader. We were switched at the beginning of the summer. I never liked her as much but the time was right for both my mom and me. Hopefully I'll like the new new lady better. It's just really frustrating bc I have to keep having these ppl get to know me. My original lady was the best. I miss her. Some weeks when I have time, I try to sit in on her other meeting.

Also another exciting thing is today's the last day for my summer house 'guest'! He's been here 12 weeks and I am OVEr it! It'll be nice to get my house back to normal.

Got wet nails!... Will chat more later.

TurboMammoth 08-06-2011 04:26 PM

hey all!!! I'm back from vacations, totally exausted and so not ready to get back to work on monday . the 9 hours drive with a ''i don't like to travel'' cat killed me.

the good thing is that I've been totally off track (like TOTALLY ) for the last 2 weeks and I only gained 3 pounds. I was expecting at least 6 or 7 but if it is 3 I'll take it lol. Tomorrow, back on track and training and drinking tons of water to wash out the salt. (oh and I only gained 3 pounds but my bf, who ate the same diet than me the past 2 weeks gained NOTHING. God I hate him sometimes LOL)

catahoula 08-06-2011 07:08 PM

How many activity points does scrubbing patio furniture earn?! It's so hot outside, I thought I might melt into the sudsy puddle. Itd nice to have the house pressure washed and all the porch furniture cleaned though.

OnceUponADrive 08-06-2011 08:25 PM

Hello everyone. I am struggling this week with always feeling like I need to snack on something. I'm craving chips and salsa, brownies, etc. I bought gum to try to satisfy my urge to snack but it's not working. :(

mercuryblue 08-06-2011 11:04 PM

A friend of mine told me that putting crisp washed seedless grapes in a ziplock bag and putting them in the freezer works wonders for a snacky episode. She said it takes forever to get through a small bag of them and they taste like mini popsicles.

Ive been on the laughing cow lite cheese and mini toast crackers kick lately. Not to mention the Crispy Mini's. They are soooo good. Lovin the dill pickle kind. Mmm. Feeling snacky is the worst though, sometimes nothing helps it go away! :dizzy:

catahoula 08-06-2011 11:37 PM

My go to snacky foods are- Popcorn Indiana's cinnamon sugar popcorn, Applestraws (like a cheeto but cinnamon apple), special k crackers, Sargento light string cheese, almonds, fiber one 90 cal bars.

My new treat is some nights I will measure out Bluebell Vanilla No Sugar Added ice cream into a pint glass that I keep in the freezer. Then I poor skim milk over it. Some of the milk freezes around the edge of the glass. I then eat it all with a spoon. My mom used to do this same thing with ice cream & milk in a frozen glass when she was little. She would fix it for me when I was young, but I forgot all about it until recently. I think it ends up being between 4-6 points+ depending on how many grams I measure out.

catahoula 08-06-2011 11:39 PM

Also, I forgot to say... I think TOM is gonna sabotage my upcoming WI on Monday. I was looking consistently down all week until yesterday. Then low & behold... TOM today. Gotta hate being a girl this week.

mercuryblue 08-06-2011 11:50 PM

TOM sucks... i had a 0.5lb loss this week tho, usually it means i stay the same so i was glad this time around.

catahoula 08-08-2011 10:11 AM

Just weighed in... Down 1! I'll take it, considering it's TOM.

TurboMammoth 08-08-2011 11:29 AM

Officially back to tracking today, I need to loose the 3.8 pounds I gained while being away in vacations. My stomach feel like a balloon right now. It's like I'm not used anymore to eat trash... which is a good thing I think, I no longer associate trash food with a good feeling!

Hope everyone is having a good monday :)

mercuryblue 08-08-2011 01:42 PM

Nice work Cat!!

Turbo - no kiddin huh, i ate pizza several months back and had the worst stomach crampy bloated nasty feelings. I never feel like that when i am eating well. Id much rather not eat that stuff and feel good than feel cruddy. It affected my sleep too, i was up all night with a sore tummy and indigestion.

I've totally learned my lesson. Poutine was definetaly the worst. Wine was a close second for the stomach pain...

Comfort food no more for those!!

OnceUponADrive 08-08-2011 06:01 PM

I made the mistake of ordering a greasy, cheesy panzarotti recently and felt the effects for DAYS afterwards. I think from now on when I want to treat myself to pizza it will be a frozen pizza like digiorno, etc. without all that excess grease! Anyway, I'm feeling great this week! Hopefully it will show on the scale! Finding new snacks and new ways to make my salads a little more interesting (raisins, hard boiled egg, and sunflower seeds). I alway struggle with veggies so I'm am vamping up on the salads and carrots with hummus!

mercuryblue 08-08-2011 07:24 PM

I had a wonderful salad over at my boyfriends parents house the other night. She puts sesame seeds in it. It doesnt seem like a big thing, but it really made the salad something fantastic! From now on i am going to use them i think. Especially since salads have been boring lately. Very boring...

Its weird that we could all eat that junk before and we loved it, but now we eat it and we regret it terribly. Anything like that, that is rich in flavours or high in grease will just kill my tummy :( ohhh man but did i ever love poutine :(

Love your new picture too Turbo... very pretty :)

My favorite salads include a bit of sunflower seeds and dried cherries or cranberries... not that those a low point items compared to sesame seeds. But the flavor it adds is crazygood. :)

OnceUponADrive 08-08-2011 08:55 PM

I may have to try the sesame seeds! Went out and got some new hummus tonight. I've always gotten Sabra brand and loved it. Tonight I picked up Tribe tomato and basil flavor and hated it. It's much too strong a flavor for me. I guess I prefer more natural flavored hummus. Threw out the whole tub. :(

mercuryblue 08-08-2011 11:24 PM

oh wow... definitely do the sesame seeds. They just add something special. Ive only ever seen them in what my grocery labels as an "asian" salad. Adds a toasty, nutty kinda taste.

TurboMammoth 08-09-2011 07:47 AM

Thanx for the picture, mercuryblue! :) No more mammoth lol!

And sesame seeds are so good. I like to throw them in my asia stirfry too.

singing 08-09-2011 08:18 AM

Hi everyone- The scale went up a few pounds(4) and is not budging.Measurements are the same. I'm on plan and getting all kind of good exercise. I know what to do(be patient?) but..I'm still feeling pretty down today. Sigh..

OnceUponADrive 08-10-2011 06:39 AM

Totally frustrated this week. I have been doing great all week (better than most other weeks when I've lost) and so far I'm up a pound this morning. Weigh in is tomorrow. :(

Proatthis 08-10-2011 08:49 AM

Hang in there for those that are frustrated. And for those doing well keep it going.
I lost the 1 pound I gained last week. Puts me back at 149. Which I love to see. Hopefully this week I can be down another pound. No more fudge this week! I had some last week and my tummy paid the price.

I finished the 30 day shred and I have moved on to ripped in the 30. This time taking measurements. I'm doing that combined with walking for my exercise.
Hope you all have a great day!

SLIMplicity 08-10-2011 03:44 PM

Hi fellow WW's,

Had my weigh in today, I'm down 2 more lbs!! Thats 8 lbs since starting three weeks ago! I'm happy!! :D

what do you all think of weighing daily..I was thinking about buying a digital scale for home.. thoughts?

OnceUponADrive 08-10-2011 06:29 PM

I don't weigh in more than twice a week. I fluctuate too much to do it daily and I think I would get frustrated. I weigh in Thursday morning before my actual WI at the meeting Thursday afternoon, so I'm not shocked if I gain or don't lose (I like to be prepared). And I'll normally weigh in halfway through the week to see how I'm doing. If I'm up, I know I need to step it up a little.

On another note, it's my T.O.M. and I'm angry! I haven't lost (in fact I've gained a pound so far) and when I got on the spin bike today I was just SO winded and exhausted. I made it a half hour but I usually do an hour. I'm frustrated but I just don't have it in me.

catahoula 08-10-2011 09:09 PM

I weight like 80 times a day. But only officially on Monday's at the meeting. Everyones different.

OnceUponADrive 08-11-2011 05:58 PM

Down a pound this week, thankfully. Normally I wear a very "light" outfit on weigh in day (an airy skirt or capris). Today I was going to wear pants until I weighed myself with them on. They added almost a whole pound! I can't have that!

TurboMammoth 08-12-2011 09:50 AM

It was my official friday morning WI today, and I was 164,8 lbs, which is 0,4 heavier than my last official-pre-vacactions-screwing up the diet-eating crap WI.

So I think it was majorly salt and water that I lost really quickly this week.

I'm glad to be back on track. :) I'll try to get out of the 160's now, been there for like 7 weeks...

singing 08-12-2011 08:37 PM

Hey TurboMammoth. We're roughly in the same ballpark as far as stats are concerned. Did you pick your goal weight from past experience, BMI chart, weight chart or ? It's been so long,I don't have a feel of what a real goal weight should be for me.Any input would be appreciated.
As far as update..went to a B&B with DH and friends, ate and drank more than I have in the last few weeks and lost weight! I don't get it.

TurboMammoth 08-13-2011 11:20 AM

Hey singing!!! It's true our numbers are almost the same! :)

For the goal weight, I picked it with the BMI chart. I'd like to reach a BMI around 21, which brings me to about 140 lbs. I can't pick from my past experiences because I've been over the 160's for so long I can't remember what I weight when I was skinny (and honestly I never really cared about my weight until I realized I had a weight to loose).

I don't know if I'll be able to reach the 140 lbs that I picked for a goal. I'll see how my body react and how I feel by then. :)

singing 08-14-2011 09:13 AM

Thanks TurboMammoth! I love the feedback in this forum from all those wonderful women in the same boat.It helps a lot with my mental state which,I believe,is half the battle to lose weight and be healthier.
