monday:dizzy:

TurboMammoth 06-27-2011 05:21 PM

I hate mondays :D

I'm mooving friday, and a guy was supposed to come to see if I did not trash my appartment over the years (...) So I left work in a hurry, arrive home for our meeting and waited there for FORTY minutes.

My appartment was all good, it took like 4 minutes to check it :P

Freackin' mondays!

Proatthis 06-27-2011 05:49 PM

Turbo what a waste of time for you! I'm moving too, on Wednesday. I hate moving so much.

Tomorrow is my weigh in. TOM came early so I'm not sure what to expect. I also ate out on the weekend and some junk food. I tracked everything but this will be my first week of really going into my weekly points. I have used 20 so far.

mercuryblue 06-27-2011 07:18 PM

ohhh geeze, when i lived in an apartment building, they did the same thing... this stupid inspection. ANyhow, there was some weather damage on the balcony where the concrete had chipped away on the edges since it is exposed to so much water, ice, snow etc. I had lived there for 4 years and had seen it get progressively worse. So this woman comes in with a clipboard and accused me of letting my dog pee on the balcony instead of just taking him downstairs (which i never ever did, nor would ever think of doing - and basically calling me lazy). She put on the form that i owed the company 500$ to fix it!!!!!!!

I told her to get out of my apartment, called her incompetent and then i had the property manager come over. That got cleared up prettty quickly. I told him he could charge me whatever he wants for the decaying of his buildings, but i will not be giving him a dime!! So that got cleared up pretty fast. Glad you got out unscathed tho Turbo, they are not nice people sometimes!

P.S. happy monday guys!

Spooky 06-27-2011 08:17 PM

Happy Monday, y'all.

I took half a day off work today. I still feel like crap. I also blew through every single weekly point I had tonight and I don't weigh in until Saturday. SATURDAY. What was I thinking? I'm going to try really hard to get to the gym a couple of times and earn some APs to offset the damage. There's a morning zumba class tomorrow so if I wake up and don't feel too terrible maybe I'll do that.

Turbo & Pro: Good luck with your moves this week! I hate moving. :(

Merc, I just want you to know I am now obsessing over hairstyles. What are you considering?

Tudor Rose 06-27-2011 08:29 PM

Happy Monday everyone!

I'm kind of nervous this week. I've lost 24.8 lbs and I've had two really good weight losses the past few weeks. Which means this is the kind of week where I'm doomed to mess up, and that would be so frustrating since I'm SO CLOSE to 25 lbs. I just always fall into some weird mental trap and I'm really really really hoping to not let it happen this time. Plus I'm going to have TOM this week, so that will probably make me want to eat eat eat!

I can do this! I just have to keep telling myself that!

If nothing else, I only have to work 3 1/2 days this week and then I have a 4 1/2 day weekend!

OK!! well ive had long straight hair for ever. parted in the middle... normal lookin stuff. I think i am going to have bangs cut, and get it layered all over with some awesome colors. I think i wanna go with red or purple highlights. black/plum in the main color with violet highlight chunks... and if i take the red a nice dark red auburn with bright red streaks. Not sure which... i dont do normal hair. which i think is why ive been so bored with what i have!!! i am so looking forward to this new hair. I chose someone i saw in the paper who is a new hairstylist close to my place. In her picture she has a bright blue and black mohawk lol. I think she will be perfect to do mine for me!

What kind of stuff are you thinking to do with yours?!

TurboMammoth 06-27-2011 09:39 PM

proatthis : good luck with the moving! Can't wait for it to be over!!!!

mercuryblue : what a stupid and incompetent person!!! The dude who came was nice (just REALLY late lol) And anyway I was going to freak out if they wanted me to pay sometimes, the kids of the buildings are becoming crazy and they're trashing everything in it (lock, common windows) It was clear I wasn't going to pay a dime either!

spooky : I did the exaclty same thing with my weeklies this week. I weighed friday morning, and I all blew them out on friday night... best.moove.EVER! (...not)

Tudor_rose : good luck for the 25 lbs. Try to not stress yourself too much :)

We just finish painting our appartment back to white before we leave it friday. I'm so sick on painting. And I'll have so much to do in the next appartment. It was a day-nursery, so the master bedroom if candy pink and apple-green. Yay! :P LOL

You can do it chick! Dont think about TOM, he's a %$#&*! He is visiting me too... i know all about him :P Just think about getting your goal this week and you can do it! I know i like to munch too when i get home from work and im usually ravenous at this time... but i know i wanna press through and not let it bother me. I am close to getting -30lb so i wanna kick it up a notch.

Jinksie 06-27-2011 10:35 PM

everyone's moving! its my/our turn end of next month. Our complex upped the rent by $200!! the Brazilian guy in our building went to complain to them, they offered him a microwave; like that helps us pay the rent. The rent is now everything my ex earns in 2 weeks.. YIKES.
We don't have any security money set aside either, cos his car keep breaking down and money had to be put to that, so he could keep earning money. The plan is to not pay the bills here, and use that money to move to a 1 bedroom - cos I'll be here another 3 months tops (i hope) O_O; just another stresser, right? =p
im pretty sure they're not checking the apartment until we move out - which is fine with me, gives me a chance to clean it properly. My cat ahas unfortunately clawed at some of the carpet joints... So there goes the security deposit.

side note; i SO SO SO SO want to try that blue bunny ice cream. Red velvet cake. Has pieces of cake in it and cream cheese flavored ice cream... im salivating, thinking about it. lol

How have you been lately Jinksie? Has everything been ok on your end now? I had been thinking about you.

catahoula 06-27-2011 11:57 PM

Ok! I give up! Last weigh-in was up 1.2 and that week I didn't eat all my points each day. This week I ate all my points and some of my weeklies and I was only down .4 this morning at weigh-in. I dont get it. I tend to find it really frustrating when I can't pinpoint the 'culprit' when something doesn't go as planned.

And on top that, I am leaving Friday for a long weekend at the beach in Florida... So although this weeks meeting was about planning for vacations, I have a feelin I'm gonna over indulge.

Argh! I'm not a happy camper right now.

catahoula 06-27-2011 11:59 PM

Jinksie I feel ya on the rent going up issue. Back in October our mortgage went up $600 for absolutely no reason. So now we are going to have to refinance with another company because Chase Bank is screwing us each way to Sunday. Its insane. Good luck!

Don't give up! Were your meals carb-heavy? I think that might be my biggest culprit. Maybe eat all your dailies, but none of your weeklies? I usually only eat my dailies, but no weekly or activity points.. until 2 days ago and dipped a *little bit* into my activity points. So far so good.

Enjoy your trip.. don't sweat the points, you know you can be reasonable, but enjoy yourself all the same. We'll be here when you get back. :)

GoodnessGracious 06-28-2011 06:37 AM

This is so hard. Only lost 1 pound this week. I mean, I know it's not going to fly off but 1 pound is discouraging- especially since I earned over 40 activity points last week.

im fine, i think. I have moments.
the ex and i have a weird situation. He doesnt want to support me/us once the divorce is done but his family wont help me. I asked his grandmother, who has a spare room - all i need is a roof for the baby, and she was a little bitter and rude, i dont know if she was having a bad day, but it annoyed me. And ex's mother lives with them too, so i cant ask her.
His step mother keeps pressuring me find somewhere for all of us and get myself a job (no one gets a job in this Area during summer, seasonal jobs end here when it gets hot, cos everyone leaves. And i'll be leaving in a few months - that's a really good prospect to hire me (not), if i couldnt get one when i was staying here, i certainly wont find one when im leaving).
soooooo... still dealing with trying to get security money for a new place - which means probably not paying some bills.
And then the baby was sick yesterday - she was in a foul mood all day, and i couldnt handle it.
and the 4lbs i lost - gained 3 back.. WOO! =p

Spooky 06-28-2011 08:59 AM

Turbo: At least I know I'm not the only one! Thanks for that. I peeked on the scale and it looks like I am up a pound and hopefully I can get that off by Saturday. I have painting to do here, too, but I hate it and so I still have a billion paint samples on the walls LOL.

Catahoula: Sorry your WI didn't go as planned. I know how frustrating the scale can be. Just keep doing the right thing and it will catch up with you. Enjoy your vacation!

Jinks: I hope things look up for you soon. Hopefully you can figure out a short-term situation for you and your daughter before you go back home. I wish you were closer, we have so much extra room here and you'd be welcome to stay until you had things figured out.

Mercury: Oh, my favorite subject. Hair. I have shoulder length dark brown/graying hair (I have a love-hate relationship with the graying part). It is very thick. Usually I have a slight side part, no bangs, and honestly I wear it back in a half ponytail or messy bun most of the time. I want something sort of edgy and trendy but am not interested in the upkeep of a complicated color job or spending hours doing it every day (I have to be at work at 6 am so I don't have a lot of time in the morning). I am sort of loving this haircut right now (it is a gif so I will post as a link, it's cool because she turns her head so you can see the sides: http://evingar.tumblr.com/post/6607124110). The last time I had my hair really cut it involved many months of growing out so I'm a bit nervous but I really like this style. We'll see. I've had something sort of similar in the past (the wife called it my Tegan & Sara haircut) so I think it will work for me and if it is thinned quite a bit it will cut down on the maintenance aspect.

I am considering driving down to visit my parents/sister for the weekend of July 4th. What are you all doing for the holiday?

TurboMammoth 06-28-2011 09:48 AM

Spooky : I so hate painting too. And we even can't figure out what color we'll choose in the next appartment. The boyfriend likes to be really involved in those decision and don't like some of the color I like... Argumentation is coming I think LOL

The hairstyle you post is so cute! I like it! it doesn't look like it would need hours to do in the morning. I'm also looking for a new hairstyle for september (because there's nothing to do with my hair in the summer, humidity = LOTS of frizzle) Might be coloring them!

SkineeMinnee 06-28-2011 01:40 PM

Just back from my weigh in. Down 3.2 pounds, for a total of 24.4 pounds since May 10! I am almost halfway to goal!

Proatthis 06-28-2011 04:28 PM

Hey guys sorry I'm not as supportive I'm moving tomorrow and I'm being swallowed by boxes and cleaning and stress!!!!!! Ahhh I just want it over.

I was up .2 today at weigh in. Probably because of TOM and I switched my workout up and I'm most likely retaining water. Anyway I'm just going to keep going because I feel good and I know I'm doing the right stuff!

I will post more after I move!

TurboMammoth 06-28-2011 04:36 PM

Good luck with the mooving Proatthis!!

And congrats SkineeMinnee! What a great loss :D

I hope this will all work out for you Jinksie. I am sending all my good vibes to you. Where abouts in Australia are you from? (i think you said you had family there). I also would hope that your ex would help you out?

mercuryblue 06-28-2011 06:01 PM

SpookyYa! i think that hair is super cute. Dont worry about cuttin it, just do something you feel will look good, and that you really want. In the end, hair does grow back anyhow. I just cant wait. Im due for a change and this is a new me... i feel like a butterfly coming out of a cocoon. As silly as that seems lol. Everything just seems brighter these days. And the new hair i am looking forward to. Make sure when you get it cut you post pics!!! cant wait to see. Do you think you will dye it as well?

South Australia. Dobunk little town called Whyalla.
All my immediate family are there, he rest scatter out a little.
and my ex is being forced to? lol i dunno, we've been good actually. No fighting, carrying on like normal without the BS of a relationship. Its quite liberating :)

Live Laugh Love 06-28-2011 07:40 PM

Hey everyone. I've been super busy lately with school work. My teacher was lacking on her end and not giving assignments, so she decided to basically load them all on us at once (well, like 3 due a week for the next few weeks). I have 2 classes so it's coming to a time crunch now that it's mid semester. Plus, I now have a sinus infection so hasn't been much exercise between that and school work. Tomorrow I'm gonna wash my car and try to go swimming as that still burns calories but won't kill me lol. I feel like I've been eating horribly this week. TOM showed up and I've been eating not so healthy foods, but still staying in my points. I don't know if it's the bloating making me feel worse or the bad foods I've eaten. I guess I'll see the results in a few days. Hope everyone is having a great week.

TurboMammoth 06-29-2011 10:00 AM

We're getting the key of the new place this afternoon! We'll be able to paint a bit and moove boxes before the moovers come in on friday. YAY :D

vegetarianism

So, over the course of the last few years, I've been wanting to go vegetarian- (mostly for ethical reasons, but also for health reasons).. but find it hard, when there's a few select items that are kinda hard to give up (plus the rest of the family isn't interested in converting). I was just looking over my tracker for the last few weeks- and minus the week or two that I had a slice of turkey bacon on my breakfast sandwich, or a polish dog at lunch, I'm only eating meat at dinner time... AND there were a handful of days that I didn't even eat meat then. Maybe it isn't such an unobtainable goal afterall! I don't know how I didn't notice my reduction in meat consumption, but it makes me a happy girl. :)

Id love to go vegetarian. I was driving on the highway the other day to work and a truck passed me with a bunch of adorable cows in it... and i knew where they were headed to. Made me really sad. I dont think anyone would ever eat meat if they knew what had to actually happen before it got to the grocery store. Pretty barbaric. I was just talking to my boyfriend about this the other day. I dont really eat beef anyhow, but i do eat chicken. So if i could just give up the chicken, i could do it! With the amount that i love animals its weird i am not a vege anyhow. I think i will try for a month and see what happens. I can do the protein shakes instead.

Yaay i found you on a map! Whyalla is near a little inlet of water, and your near Adelaide. How far are you from Adelaide driving? I love australia, never been but i had a guy live with me for 2 years who is from Melbourne. He keeps at me to come visit there. I'd LOVE to go, but i am afraid funnel web spiders will know im a Canadian and launch them selves at me from the airport doors!! Those things are skurrrry!

I grew up on a farm and as sad as it can sound, you learn to live with it and let it go... Although I was angry as **** when my dad sold the baby cow (who wasn't that baby anymore at this point) that I've been taking care of because his mom died when he was born. I did not talk to my dad for days.

We had chicken too, but I never felt bad about eating chicken. This is honestly the stupidest animal on hearth to me (just behind turkey) lol

I was born and raised eating meat with the family farm, I don,t think I'd be able to clear it from my meals... But I'm impressed of people who can :)

girlsenberry 06-29-2011 02:07 PM

Thanks Jinksie- I kinda feel the same way about bacon, and steak, and all sort of seafood.. which is what makes this so hard.

Unfortunately I know many a male who don't give a rats rear about the barbarism- they just shrug and say, "oh well".. which irritates me to no end. I think if I could afford organic, local, meat from humanely-treated animals I would definitely go that route, because like I said above- I sooo love bacon and steak, etc.. and I know that's what's holding me back. Side-note: I successfully completed Kris Carrs' (from Crazy Sexy Life) "vegan for 3 weeks" challenge and it really wasn't too bad. The only thing that really tripped me up was craving cheese.. and restaurants putting butter on my side dish veggies. Also- you don't necessarily need protein shakes- there's peanut butter, beans, eggs.. lots of stuff with protein in it. I guess the best food combination is rice and beans together- they form a complete protein chain, and include essential amino acids. :)

Poor baby cow! :( That would have broken my heart. I guess that's life on a farm tho?

lol @ the chicken comment. But they lay eggs & who doesn't love eggs? :D

Im one of those shrug it off people. I enjoy my ignorance, and i enjoy the taste and texture. Thats why i could never be a vegetarian, especially Vegan, but kudos to anyone who can do it. I cannot :)

But they ARE really idiotic animal lol. Specially the female ones (sorry don't know the word in english)

If I was dropping one egg in their little park, they would RUUUN to it and EAT IT and fight for it! It wasnt officially their babies, but almost lol they are just weird animals LOL

You're totally correct, vegans do not eat anything produced from an animal... but vegetarians can/do, depending on the type of vegetarian they choose to be. There's flexitarians, pescetarians, lacto/ovo vegetarians. I think we both mentioned becoming vegetarians, not vegans. It's waaaaaaay too strict for me, personally.. I love cheese, and the soy/rice ones are nasty, IMO. :D

Tudor Rose 06-29-2011 10:42 PM

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian (I eat eggs and cheese) and absolutely love it. But I never really ate that much meat before so it wasn't a huge transition for me. I've been veg about 3 1/2 years now and can't imagine ever going back. It's definitely made me a more adventurous eater, I'll eat things I never would have eaten before and I've learned to really love cooking.

I did fall into the trap in the beginning where I ate a lot of pasta and carbs to make up for the lack of meat as a main staple in a meal, and even now I have to be very careful to not go carb crazy. But I have tons of cookbooks and magazine subscriptions, and after awhile you realize how easy it is to vegetarianize almost any recipe.

One of my best friends is vegan and because of that I've eaten and cooked vegan meals before. One of my favorite cookie recipes -- for Five Spice Cranberry Cookies -- is vegan and you would have no idea based merely on eating them.

girlsenberry 06-29-2011 11:56 PM

I think I could totally become lacto-ovo, but I don't want to eat tofu/soy- do you know of any vegetarian cookbooks that don't rely on it, by chance? They're really hard to come by, for some reason.

Jinksie 06-30-2011 08:37 AM

tofu is an acquired taste/texture. I've tried it =p more than once. I like soy milk, again thats a required taste, but you get used to it.
Almond milk is good :D
