1 point bread

  • Went shopping today and found a bread called "Iron Kids Crustless" 4X the Calcium of most ordinary white breads. 2 slices are only 1 point. I bought 2 loaves. Tried it with some garlic bologna and was extremely satisfied. Tastes better than the calorie reduced bread I think. Thought I would share.
  • busdriver,
Thanks for the tip. Since I am new to this diet I can use all the tips I can get. I will look for the bread when I shop. Thanks again!
  • There are a lot of lite breads out there. I don't eat white bread, but I find plenty of wheat and rye. They seem to fill me up better (more fiber).
  • the best bread on the market - hands down is natural ovens.

    Check them out - www.naturalovens.com
I dare you to finish a sandwich with their bread - it is so filling - and good for you!
  • Also, Wonder Light Wheat is 4 slices for 1 point! But beware, other Wonder Lights (sourdough, etc) are only 2 sloces for 1 point (still good).
  • How do you get 4 slices for one point? 2 slices are 80 calories and 3 grams of fiber = 1 point
  • I love the crustless bread also - I have a 2 and 3 year old, and originally bought it for them, then I noticed the points value so I eat it too! Its great and calcium fortified. Also, anyone with kids will love it because no more cutting the edges off!
  • Ok you know I never heard of cutting the crust off bread for kids until this bread came out. What is the deal with that? When I was going up you ate what was put in front of you and that meant the crust too....

    Sheesh! LOL
  • My kids have never had crustless bread, they eat whole wheat bread with the crust!!!!
  • I originally didn't cut the crust off- but then they pull it off and lay it on their plate and end up eating only the middle. Crustless bread is a great solution for me.
  • I had to giggle when I saw slimdown............ Those of us in North Eastern Wisconsin know all about Natural Ovens Bread. I love their bagels! I'll be sure to check out the Iron Kids bread tho. I always need to find more ways to get my calcium, as I'm lactose intolerant and just the thought of milk makes my tummy turn flips. No don't try to tell me about the Lactaid milk. I tried, I can't get past the fact that it's milk, I can't get it past the lips.
