Default It's Race Day!!! My First 5K!

Morning!

I can't believe the day has finally come after months of nail biting anticipation! Today I am running my very first 5K and this will be a HUGE milestone for me. A year ago I never would have thought I'd be here, 106lbs down, and actually RUNNING! I always envied people I'd see running races or even running around my neighborhood.

I have been training for 5 long months and when I started I could ONLY run 30 seconds at a time, even that left me out of breath with horrible side cramps. Now I can run 6 to 7 miles with ease and at a nice easy pace!

The weather is terrible here (Raining, Cold, & Windy) and I'm sick but nothing is going to stop me today! Hopefully I can get someone to take a picture of me crossing the finish line so I can remember this day forever.

Wow! Good luck on your race!

As of this morning, I've finished Week 7 of the C25k and can't believe I'm actually running. Your post inspires me to keep going . . . I don't love it all the time, but I certainly love it when I'm done with a run.

Thanks for sharing!

You are so inspiring!! I always see people jogging/running and wish that I could. I don't have a treadmill to practise on or anything, but something run very short distances with the kids - 30 sec or a tad more. I would love to hear how you trained for this. I would love this to be me someday!! Way to go!! Can't wait to hear how good it went!

Thanks so much for all the wonderful replies!! I started training 5 months ago and could only run 30 seconds at a time. I slowly increased my time and speed every week until I ran my first mile, after that miles 2 and 3 were a piece of cake. The key is to control your breathing and run at a pace which is comfortable for you.

Took this in the bathroom before heading out!
