Help!!! Looking For An Old Cake Recipe!!

  • Apologies for posting this in two places--but I'm kinda desperate here...

I'm doing WW again... my 3rd attempt at this, and I'm really psyched about it... so much so that I want to take a WW cake to work on Wednesday (it's my birthday, and we have this weird tradition/rule at work that when it's your birthday, you bring food for everyone else! )

Okay... last time I did WW, during the 123 Success Plan (first incarnation of "points")... this was back in 1998, maybe... I subscribed to the WW Magazine for about a year. During that time, I remember a cake recipe in the magazine that I tried, and it was REALLY GOOD--but now I've lost the recipe! (Kinda sounds like that song, "MacArthur Park," doesn't it? Except I didn't leave my cake out in the rain... )

Here's what I remember about the recipe... maybe somebody has it...

1 box of reduced-calorie cake mix (they named a specific brand, maybe Pilsbury)
1 package instant pudding (regular, as opposed to fat-free and/or sugar-free)
    Egg substitute
    applesauce
    water

There may be more ingredients, but I don't remember them. Anyway, you mix everything up, and they recommend you bake it in a bundt pan...

I remember the cake being very, very moist... and a slice was 5-7 points.

If anyone can remember this... it'd be appreciated. Thanks!
  • Happy birthday on Wednesday - it's also my birthday that day. I make birthday cakes for everyone else's birthday and they are bringing me fruit. Sorry, I don't know the receipe. I limit desserts to 3 points or less.
  • Just a thought - try going to Pillsbury's site and access Lite Recipies. If its not there, go to Duncan Heines. Good luck!
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Well, i dont know what your cake is, but i have a cake that could be a good substitute:

Take 1 Box of Angel Food Cake (low cal or fat if you can help it)
Mix in a can of Crushed Pineapple (the 2nd size can)
and then follow the cooking directions...but don't add anything else beside the cake mix and the pineapple... It tastes good...and Its only 1 or 2 points per slice....

    hoep you find your cake!

  • Happy birthday. Angel food cake that you have cut the top from and scooped out the middle of the cake is good filled with coolwhip free and sliced strawberries sweetened with equal. To make it festive add a small paper cup to the middle filled wirh flowers and babies breath.
