My WW leader said that after a few more pounds lost she would like to discuss what my goal weight would be.
How did you decide on your goal weight? I was thinking 135 because that was a weight I remember feeling my most comfortable. But according to all the charts I should weigh between 120-125.
I came up with 140 because I felt comfortable there. I weighed 125 in high school but I didn't want to set myself up for disappointment. Once I reach 140 I may consider lowering my goal weight but I feel good about my current goal. I suggest doing the same thing if you feel good about the number 135 for the time being.
I picked 137 because according to BMI charts, that's what my "ideal" weight would be for someone my height/age/gender. I may change it as I get closer depending on what "feels" right for me, since a chart can't account for all the individual differences we have.
I chose my goal weight based on a height/weight chart I saw somewhere (I can't remember if it was in some of my WW literature or what). Anyway, according to that charge, there was a range of weights for my height (5'3"). 141 was the largest weight on the range, so I picked that as my goal. My reasoning was that once I got there, I could gauge whether I wanted to lose more or if I was comfortable there.
When I did WW back in the day, my leader said to pick the highest weight in your healthy weight range. Because once you reach goal you can still keep losing if you want, but on maintenance/lifetime rates so you save money.
I also picked the highest weight for my height. Also my doctor once mentioned that number when I pressed her for what weight I should aim for when I first began.
I picked a weight where I felt comfortable - I am sure you know this, but if you decide on a weight that is higher than their "normal range" chart says for your age/height you can still use it as your goal weight and be eligible for WW lifetime as long as your doctor provides a note. I'm not sure what the note has to say -- but its an option for some!
I picked 125, because I believe thats the weight I was when I competed in the local town beauty pageant, and placed 2nd! I figure if I rocked a swim suit on STAGE at that weight, can rock a swim suit at a beach at that weight ;]
Hi,
I originally got down to my goal weight of 142 at the age of 20. I suffered; I was too thin. Didn't have a period, had hair loss, depression...
Forward any, many years . . .NOW, Officially, my goal weight is 185 as per my physician. He wants me to be at a "normal weight" for me, a weight that I can maintain without too much trouble. For my health, maintenance is key. . . But, as an emotional eater, it's all hard. . .
That being said, I would like to get down to 169 because I like that number. I keep telling myself that it is only a number, that how I feel and look means more than being below 170. . .
We'll see what happens as I get closer to those numbers.

Reason: typo
According to charts and my doctor, the high-end of my ideal weight is 150. I know myself well enough to know that I would not be comfortable at that weight, but I also want to be under 200, so I split the difference: 175 lbs.
Truth is, I like being a bigger girl, I like my curves and being plump and I'd like to maintain that to some degree.
My leader wants me to set a goal too but I'd rather wait until I get under the 200's to talk about it. I'd really like to get to about 140. I got down to 128 in college and couldn't maintain it. At 19 yrs old I could hold it at 130-135 pretty easily but at 33 I don't know if I could. So we shall see. I'm not 19 anymore so I gotta keep that in mind.
I chose 135 because thats where I remember being my happiest and most comfortable, a size 5 and healthy. If when I get there I feel the need to drop another 10 pounds then so be it but for right now 135 it is

This is me too. I haven't officially set my goal weight but in my head it is 145, just one pound under the highest healthy weight in the range. The lowest I've ever been in my adult life was 147 and I was pretty darn happy there!
