the wii board and fit plus game is usually $99 plus tax. My mom bought me the BL wii game for $19.99 (plus tax) at Kmart this weekend, but normally its $39.
I know my mom looked in Target and found out that their BL combo and Fit Plus and board bundle was online deal only for $137 (which is an awesome deal for what you get). so she's getting that, since she wants the fit plus and board -and BL game, plus it gives her the BL cookbook, etc. |
Thanks for the answers, will have a family chat here and see what makes sense for our family. I've still yet to try this.
I wonder, will I be bored? Boredom is my biggest foe when it comes to any form of exercise. I've had tapes, videos, etc. I recently joined Netflix and when the movies come, I get on the treadmill and watch them, that is helpful to me to have something to watch that is not boring. |
Yesterday we bought the wii fit package. Instead of sitting on our butts watching TV after dinner, DH and I took turns snowboarding and doing all sorts of wii fit things. I'm a bit sore today, but it's a good thing.
I'm proud of myself! I'm looking forward to doing it again this morning. I was embarrassed by it's measuring me in front of my husband and when I stepped on the thing, it went "oooooohhhh" like I was really heavy. Oops. But, then it did the same for him. It classifies me as being "overweight" with a body mass of 29. I was sad, but it's a good thing, I guess, as it was quite motivating. |
I went out & got the Wii & Wii Fit Plus after seeing this thread about a month ago. I love it! Between using this for exercise & starting WW simply filling....I've lost 10 pounds in the last 4 weeks. I'm pretty excited & the Wii fi plus is actually fun to do. My chubby teenagers are using it too :-)

Great job, stamperlori! I haven't used mine for a few days now as I've been sick but intend to get back on soon.
I hate being sick. |
I love the Wii Fit Plus. I have been trying to do it 3-4 times a week. Right now I am doing between 30-45 minutes when I use it.

has anyone tried the EA sports thing that straps to your leg?
|
Good to see some people back here and posting.
I plan to get back on my wii fit today, I've taken a "holiday break" and today is my official re-start. I actually need to jump start my efforts and it is hard to get off "holiday mode". |
Wii Active is by EA sports. I really enjoy that I liked it better than wii fit because you really get a work out. You have a personal trainer you can also custom your workouts or take the 30 day challenge. I'm starting the 30 day challenge again tomorrow. The only thing that really bothers me is the strap that goes around your leg. It doesn't stay around your leg if you
are moving a lot. I found it works if you place the control in a pocket (loose). I am probably going to try the wii fit plus. I like to change up my routine. |
I also noted two days ago when I weighed in on my Wii fit that it was illogical to hold the controller at this time. Perhaps you all figured this out, but setting the controller on the floor netted a difference of almost a pound between weight ins that were 20 minutes apart from each other. Ah-ha moment for me.
That controller has weight to it. Why didn't I think of that before? I also set the controller down on the floor in front of me during the aerobics routines, and the yoga stuff I do. I suck so much at the balance yoga things that I am beginning to hate it, but I figure it is good for me and I should hang in there and keep trying. I never thought it would be so difficult to stand erect on one foot with another foot resting above my knee and my hands over my head. It's downright embarrassing for me, but I keep doing it. |
My husband bought me a wii fit plus a few months ago and at first it seemed like fun and I tinkered with some of the games... I have a coordination issue, especially when the game encouraged me to copy moves of wii characters (I think it was kung fu or dance or something) and I kept screwing up so pushed the balance board under the TV armoire :P
I think I'm going to give it another whirl though. I need to figure out how to do more than the shorter exercises because having to stop and request a new one is a REAL time consumer.... |
I agree with the time consuming part about being in between routines. I think there is a way to customize a routine for yourself that will just go through a series, but I have yet to figure it out.
Also, doesn't anyone know how to re-set or modify a goal? Somehow, my Wii fit thinks I want to GAIN weight right now.... can you imagine? I can't seem to override it. At least this one goal will expire on Jan. 16, but I want it to have a loss goal. |
Add me to the Wii Fit lovers! As fun as Wii Fit is, though, I love my EA Active a lot more when it comes to actually feeling like you're getting a real workout. The boxing and running and strength training on EA Active can totally kick my out-of-shape butt LOL
eta: as for customizing a workout, you can do that really easily with Active, so that you just flow quickly from one activity to another. |
Guys I have a question about the wii fit. I really want one, but space is limited in my house. Approx how much space do you need to do the exercises comfortably?
|
I'd say that as long as you have enough space to take a large step off the balance board in all directions and are able to then stretch/swing your arms away from you without knocking into anything, that should be plenty of space.
