Default Thin4Life - Wk of Sept. 28, 2009

Good morning lifers, soon-to-be lifers and anyone else lurking who would like to join us!

It's been pretty dismal here--lots of rain, wind and cooler temps. It's 55 this morning and it's not supposed to get much warmer. Our power has gone out a couple of times from all the wind which is crazy.

My eating has been off which is not good--I've let life get in the way and need to take ahold of the reins and pull myself up.

DH had his surgery yesterday for the polyps on his vocal cords and he's not supposed to talk for 3 days...the doctor said the growth could have been caused from a scar from acid reflux but couldn't tell for sure. We'll have the biopsy results on Thursday. His thyroid is still way too high so they're increasing his meds again, and I'm hoping that he'll start to feel less tired. It takes so long to get the dosage at the right level.

Lisa: How is your weather? Ours is wet, wet, wet! I had a great time with my GF on Saturday. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and I couldn't believe how large the lunches were. Needless to say, I brought food home.

Lori: I love seeing the pictures of Phoebe...she's getting so big! How is work going?

Melissa, Hi! Our weather is cooler (60's at night) which is a welcome break from all the heat. Sorry about DH. I didn't know that he needed surgery. I hope all turns out well. How strange that he is having the same thyroid problem you are having.

Yes, Cheesecake Factory does have large portions.

I worked at the Habitat House on Saturday and it was very hot--worked on the roof. Then I walked a 5K that evening on the beach. My foot really started hurting after that. I've been having some problems with it and now I've decided I need to have it looked. It is sore and it feels like it's not connected inside? I know that sounds weird, but it's the only way to describe it.

I'm really disliking the weather--rain, cloudy, cold that last 4 days and I'm having such a hard time trying to stay motivated! I had a bout with going from one thing to another last evening, trying to "find" something to satisfy what I wanted to eat. In the end I know I ate more than I should have

I really need to focus and stay on track and I'm not sure how to find that spark again. I know if I could get some regular activity in that would help my frame of mind.

Lisa: Did you get an appointment to have your foot looked at? I hope it's nothing serious and something that just some rest will help.

Melissa, Sorry about your weather--it was cool here this morning and quite refreshing. Not sure how long this will last. I can so relate to "going from one thing to another last evening, trying to find something to satisfy what I wanted to eat." I did that the other night. I ate some crackers, then I ate a granola bar, I just couldn't get satisfied. Ugh!

I got an appointment with a podiatrist for next Tuesday and went for an x-ray this morning. I'm not sure what it is, but I need to have it looked at because the foot is just not right.

Well I dodged a bullet today at the meeting...down .6 from last week so that's better than another gain. This week's topic is reframing, just what I need. One of the members said she talks to her herself and asks, "Did I plan this?" before she eats something. I think I'm going to use that for my saying this week. If it's not planned I need to step away.

I'm glad you were able to get an appointment, Lisa, and hopefully the xray will shed some light onto what might be going on. I'm sure it's frustrating because you really can't do some of the things you like doing.

I'm not sure if it's the time of year that's been my trigger (darker, cooler) or if it's a little bit of emotional triggers, either way I need to identify what's going on.

Tonight I need to get my summer clothes put away and get my fall stuff out. It was slim pickings in my closet this morning

Melissa, Argh, I wrote a reply and it disappeared. Why does that happen?

Congrats on the loss--I'd gladly take it. I like the idea of "Did I plan this?" I do well till I get home from work and then I'm rummaging through cupboards looking for anything. My birds like crackers, so I give them their crackers and then Lisa eats a handful of crackers! : (

Putting away summer clothes? That's a couple months off here. Slim pickings though sounds like a shopping trip is on the horizon. : D

I've had the same thing happen with posts, Lisa and it's so frustrating! Boy do I hear you about the rummaging through the cupboards...that's been my main issue lately. It's not because I'm hungry that I'm looking so I need to keep myself busy!

We'll probably have another little bout of warm temps but not enough to warrant keeping out the really light clothes. I had to chuckle when you said you have time before you put your clothes away. I talked to my GF in Clearwater yesterday and she was commenting about how "cool" the temps were there and I asked, "How cold?" and she responded "84," but was quick to add "the humidity finally dropped", I responded, "cold is up here, it's only 48!"

I was definitely happy with a loss and am asking myself the question, "Have I planned for this" and that has been helping. I just need to get myself back on track and once I get into a better eating pattern things will fall into place. I did manage to get out for a walk today and it felt good. Apples are in season up here and I've been enjoying the Honey Crisp--they are my favorite next to the Empires.
