Default Boosting weight loss

I have been on WW one week and have had a loss of 1.4 pounds. I know I should be happy about that but, honestly, I'm a little disappointed. I'm a big girl...it should have been more than that.

I was sick last week but I would have thought that would have given me a GREATER loss...sigh.

So, my question to you is...how can I boost that? Eat less points per day? Exercise more? Both?

Thanks for the input!

If you were sick last week, I wouldn't worry too much at this point about tweaking anything - it's possible that you're somewhat dehydrated, weren't eating enough, or just overall need to give your body some time to get healthy again. You may even see a larger than normal loss in the coming weeks as everything settles down.

That being said, 1.4 IS a great loss. Larger first week losses tend to be water weight more so than fat, so though a big number may be encouraging, it's not always "accurate".

Be careful not to fall into the trap of thinking you should be eating less....your body NEEDS food to function, and larger bodies need more food to even cover the basics. In fact, a sure-fire way to NOT lose weight is to eat too little - your body will hold on to every little bit it gets, fearing famine is ahead.

WW works - you've proven that to yourself already with a very good loss. Realize that losing weight is a process, it takes time, patience and perseverance. Our bodies are strange - you can work your tail off, journal like a madwoman, and lose 1 lb. Another week, you may not work as hard, or eat a little more than you normally would, and you may lose 6!! Even doing the same thing each week will bring varied results, so it's best not to get too caught up in the results of any one week - track your weight over the course of the month, then look at your average weekly loss. Really, as long as the trend is downward, what you're doing is working and you're on your way!

I agree with everyting SueSays said. The only thing I would add is check your water intake - I found that drinking enough water is really important and helped a LOT with my weight loss.

Congrats on a great loss your first week! Keep up the good work!

I just started a few weeks ago. I have done WW before. I have felt that same disappointment, especially when doing WW with my mom -- who lost like 6 pounds the first week. However, people just lose differently. It doesn't mean anything. The worst thing you could do is let a LOSS discourage you into a GAIN...meaning, you are discouraged by a great 1 pound loss and so you throw in the towel and gain 5 pounds. Sticking with it is more important than anything. Just keep going and remember that it takes time to lose weight. Slow and steady is GOOD.
I followed it to the letter and lost 1.5 the first week.

Some tips for boosting weight loss that work for me:
DRINK YOUR WATER! Make sure you're getting all your water, no sodas (not even diet) EVER.
Cut out excess carbs. Check out your food journal and make sure you're not spending a lot of points on sugary carbs,
Eat 2-3 fish meals a week. Sound excessive, but the weeks I eat fish 2 to 3 times a week, my loss is greater. When I was on WW before I always had a great loss on fish weeks. I tried it this time my third week and had a 3-pound loss that week.

Those are just my tips. They might not work for everybody.

I would not go under your points, you need those for energy to function.
