Default weighed in today, little concerned tonight

Although I am psyched out of my mind I worry it may be too much. I lost 9.6 lbs my first and only week of being on weight watchers so far. I am slightly concerned that may be too fast. Does anyone know what would be acceptable weight loss for people in a week? I was too elated during my meeting tonight to ask any of this.

Plus I am still nursing my son who is 21 months. Since it is not for his sole nutrition anymore it is not allotted for in points in this plan. I never had the benefit of losing weight (from nursing) after he was born aside from his weight and maybe a little more. Which was about 15 lbs total. I was 246 right before delivering him. So maybe my poor eating habits were what was causing me to keep all that weight on. I only lost 10 lbs since he was about 3 months old, that is why I chose to do this.

Could it be that now I am eating right I may be getting the nursing weight loss everyone experiences? Am I just kicking a gift horse in the mouth? Has anyone else had this much or more weight lose in their first week? Everyone at my meeting tonight was gasping in shock when the leader said how much I lost, then they applauded. I also pointed out a typical pre WW day and before I was eating 60-80 points a day, at least, stopping for fast food sometimes 2x in one day! So maybe it is just my insane self worrying over nothing. I should go one more week if I lose this much next week I will have a meeting with my leader.

I find that people with more weight to lose have big loses the first couple of weeks. That's normal. If this continues after a few weeks then you would get concerned. Once you get into a routine you can expect 1-2 lb loses/week.
Congrats - you must have worked hard your first week - and that is always the toughest week!
Sounds normal to me - but please feel comfortable talking with your leader.

Default thanks :)

Thanks so much. What you say makes total sense. I am probably going to be around 175 for my goal and that is about a total of 42 lbs I need to take off!

Default Big Weight Loss

Also, you mention that you were eating fast food often (which has a ton of sodium in it) which was probably causing you to retain a few pounds of water. I have retained as much as 5 lbs of water before--so I wouldn't be too concerned unless your rapid rate continues.

my friend lost 11 lbs in one week...mainly from water weight and resuming eating healthy again. if it keeps up, you might choose to worry, but chances are it's a once in a blue moon thing, so enjoy it.

I went to my first WW meeting FOR A LONG TIME last night and a male member had lost over 10 lbs. his first week. Our leader said it was not unusual for someone to lose that much the first week. Great job and great motivation!

I went to my first meeting Wednesday night and talked to people who lost 8-10 lbs the first week. It really gets you excited. I hope I am as successful. Good Luck to you. Gail

I too lost 10 pounds my first week. Then I lost 4 the second week and now it has leveled out to 1-2 pounds a week.
