Default my friend said....

So I was talking to my friend who's a WW veteran and she said i'm not doing the plan correctly!?

I've been within my points every single day for 4 days without going over or dipping into my 35 flex points. My problem is that I have a hard time eating ALL my points. Don't get me wrong though, I come close but I never eat them all. I'm always under by 1 or two points. But some nights, i'm just not that hungry and I have this little debate in my head about forcing myself to eat a 1 pt popcorn snack or an extra fruit?! Sometimes I just think its better to not eat for the sake of eating!?

So, I guess my question is - should I eat ALL my points or is it okay if I come in short by a point or two? Is it necessary to eat up all my flex points? How do you ladies feel about that?

At this point, i'm super motivated and don't really want to eat up my flex points. Heck, I can't even eat up all my daily points on some days!

Will this stall me in the long run? Or, is it okay to stay away from them?

Hi!

I'm no expert but my leader told us to eat ALL of our DAILY points, the flex points you don't need to touch them if you don't want too. What about adding a point in nuts or healthy oil such as olive oil?

I'm sure someone here can explain more in detail the importance of eating all your daily points. EXITO!!

Our leader says to eat all of our points too, but sometimes, I'm like you and I can't. It seemed weird to be overweight but not able to eat all of my points. Once thing they've said is to plan better when you have snacks, trying to fit those points in earlier in the day or something, but I really don't see how not being able to eat 2 more points can hurt me in the long run. It's not like I'm binging as a result.

Last week, I only used 4 flex points. I went over on Tuesday and Thursday and hit my target on Wednesday. And honestly, I'm hoping to change weight brackets this week. I've been in the low 280s and hoping to hit the 270s tonight, so my points number is going to go down 1 anyway. If you go to meetings, though, try to address things with your leader.

My friend who I do WW with is used to the old plan, so she's adjusted her weight on the only tracker to give herself fewer points than she would have under the current plan. Then she winds up going over every day and runs out of flex points by mid-week. I'd rather be under every now and then than over on everything every week, but that's just me

Thanks for your responses!

It's strange that i'm not hungry enough to eat an extra 2 points but by the end of the day i'm really fed up of eating if that makes any sense.

My biggest problem which is what probably got me here in the first place was not eating enough throughout the day. I spent a year in law school while working pretty much full time and I was literally RUNNING around like a crazy woman and would often put eating aside because I didn't have time. I'm pretty sure I TOTALLY killed my metablosim in the process. I'd get home EXHAUSTED at night and just eat whatever was around. Sure, I wasn't eating much but i'd eating anything and everything in one meal. When I calculated what I would eat in one day even though I skipped meals it still adds up to like 100 pts per day. SCARY and super embarassing all at once.

In anycase, i'm definately not going to force myself to eat when i'm not hungry. Part of me chosing WW was about teaching myself about portion control and re-training myself to eat three good meals per day with snacks and what have you.

I know that i've only been on the program 4 days but already I'm feeling better overall. I have more energy throughout the day and don't get that mid afternoon down that I used to get before!!

I'd just try eating more points earlier in the day. I was finding myself with 15 points left over for dinner - way too many! So I'm trying to break them into 3 equal groups and aim to get that many at each part of the day. I try to eat 1/3 of my points BEFORE noon, the next 1/3 at lunch & afternoon snack. Then I only have 1/3 of my points left for dinner & dessert.

I was having trouble eating all of my points too but eventually ended up at a plateau probably for that reason. What my leader suggested was for me not to eat diet foods. Like many people will make their sandwichs on light bread and she wanted me to use regular bread instead so I am eating the same amount of food but for more points. It has definatly helped. She has never led me wrong and when I actually listen to everything she tells me I always lose. Hope this helps..Good Luck on your journey

We all have to find our own paths. I am the same weight as you and I have a super hard time LIMITING my points. So everyone is different. I know that you need to have at least 18 points in a day and the WW plan won't go below that. Just keep in mind that fewer points may be counter-productive. You need a certain number of calories to keep going and to prevent your body from going into starvation mode. If you go below that, you may stop losing weight. But this is something you'll determine with time.

Best of luck!!!

I eat all of my daily points, I think it is important to keep my metabolism up and to get all the nutrients my body needs. I do not eat my exercise points, ever. I only eat my weekly flex points on weekends (never during the week) and even then only if I absolutely need them. This weekend I had 10 left over and I will not use them this week.

This is what is working for me. Everyone is different and like someone above said, we have to find our own path. I would not recommend going under points though because you may not get all the nutrients you need and your weightloss may stall. If you see that you are going to have a point or two after dinner left, treat yourself to a little extra salad dressing or slightly bigger portion to take up that extra. Good luck!

When I did weight watchers they said to eat all the points & all the flex points during the week too. Basically I believe it was because if you continuously eat below your recommended points, your body won't be getting enough nourishment and your metabolism will slow, and your body will refuse to give up its weight!

So as long as it isn't a constant daily thing I don't think it is a problem. But if you forgo those points most days and start to see the scale stand still then start consuming all your points again. I don't see how 1 or 2 days a week will hurt you if you are only 1-2 points behind. And if what your doing keeps the scale moving down, then you most likely ARE getting enough nourishment.

I have the same problem.

The way I see it, psychologically, I don't want to get into the habit of eating at night like I was...even if its healthier things I am chosing. I dind't want that same habit. So I try to eat them all, if I don't ah well.

I haven't touched a flex point in 4 weeks, and so far I'm losing 2-3 lbs on average per week.

I have a hard time getting all my points in, too. If I have a point or two left at the end of the day, I'll usually have a class of skim milk.

I'm having a big problem with this too but I'm going below my points in a major way! I'm allowed 21 points; Since Friday I have had 12, 17, 11.5, 12, and today I have had 9. I realise that is not enough but I really can't force myself to eat anymore, I start feeling sick if I try to. I don't have an awful lot of money to spare so I tend to just go for the WW ready made meals which are really cheap in the shop I use, I normally eat two of those meals a day with some veg and I have some fruit or a yoghurt for breakfast. To me that seems a lot but the points are very low so I'm not sure.

Maybe it's a psychological thing but I really don't feel like I'm going hungry and I feel very full after only a bite or two of my meals.

If anyone could help me with this it would be very much appreciated.

When I first started doing ww I too had a hard time hitting my pts and after 7 months I had only lost 19 lbs. I am starting again and after only 2 weeks I am down 3.5 which does not seem like a lot but I am eating all my points and have lost more in these few weeks then I would lose in 2 months. I plan my food more carefully including my snacks so by the end of the day I am either a pt or two over and use a few flex.

Its important to learn to eat what you will know as 'normal' for the rest of your life and not think of this as a 'diet' the dirty 4 letter word

It is very important to use all of you daily points. I dont have a problem getting my points in. Maybe you could drink a glass of milk or something instead of eating it. My points go to drinking alot of milk and sweet tea(it is evil lol).

My leader suggest dividing your daily points by 2. Eat 1 half for breakfast and lunch and the other is for dinner and snacks. Your friend was right, you aren't doing the plan unless you get in the 9 HGs and eat all your points every day. Just staying within your points is not the plan.
