Question WW Success When Taking SSRI?

Hello - I'll keep this brief (altho it is not) -

Has anyone been successful on WW while taking SSRI medication (paxil, zoloft, lexapro, effexor, etc)? Shortly after becoming lifetime, I started on the meds because of a minor panic disorder - and that's when I started gaining weight. I am pretty much committed to the low dosage I am taking, altho I switched 4 times to see if any would make the weight gain slow.

I am back on WW now, quite committed because I do think it's the best choice for my crazy lifestyle, but it would be really encouraging to hear if anyone on one of these meds has had success, or what roadblocks were encountered and how you worked around them.

Having had kids and nearing middle age hasn't helped the metabolism either, but I'm determined - would LOVE some tips!

I hope to hear from some of you soon!

I've been on antidepressants since I started WW. I've lost 30 pounds and then I stalled out but that was my fault and not the meds. I've tried Effexor XR, Lexapro and I'm now on Zoloft. Effexor made me quit eating all together. The Lexapro and Zoloft showed no effect at all on my weight.

I have been successful on WW while taking SSRI medication. At the first time it was going slowly, but was fast at the second step. Don't worry! It will work.

I take Celexa because it doesn't radically affect my drives - sex, food, etc. I was taking Wellbutrin and I was making syrup sandwiches in the middle of the night.

I have been on one med or another since I was 17. I have seen no effect on my weight gain or loss in those 10 years. If I eat healthy and exercise, I lose weight, if I eat like crap, then I gain. I've been on numerous meds and none have had an effect. If your medication is correct though, it should make things easier because you aren't constantly struggling with the panic and anxiety, so you can concentrate on your weight loss! I've found as long as I'm "properly balanced" I have no problems! If my medications get out of whack, then I start to gain cause I'm anxious and or depressed.

Good luck to you!!
