I've been on weightwatchers for a month (from yesterday) and as a 'treat' for all the work I'd done, I decided to get a chinese takeaway for dinner - which I ate a lot of... plus cake (again, a lot of!)
My question is, what would you do/should I do in this situation (as I ate on the day of my weigh in so I technically have a week to change the effects of my bad eating!):
Would you ignore it and just eat the same points as you have been doing each day until the next weigh in?
Would you penalise your other days and eat less points?
Would you do more activity and not use up your activity points?
I'm thinking I should do more activity and not use up my activity points.. but I'm not sure.
Did you actually track what you ate, or did you just eat without regard to counting? If you counted and went over your daily amount, just take that away from your weekly 35. If you didn't count and feel like you ate all 35 or close to it, just take them away as you normally would once you eat them. Upping your activity is an okay solution, it will help create a deficit no matter what, but be careful getting into the "exercise as punishment" cycle of binge, exhaust yourself, binge, exhaust yourself, etc. Those are some dangerous waters. (Speaking of water, drink your water too )
I am not a ww but I am a calorie counter and i would just let it go and not eat the extra for the week and really try to increase your water intake the rest of the week. Water is great for flushing out the bad stuff!!
I'm a bit confused about the "extra 35" - I've seen it mentioned in other threads but it seems that the American Weightwatchers differs from the English one - we don't get those at all! (As far as I can see, anyway).
I'm going to ignore the food blip and do a bit more exercise this week. Oh, and drink lots of water!
Thanks again and hope you all have a great Friday/weekend!
American's need the extra I suppose LOL.. but it is part of the flex system. You just get an extra 35points for the week to use whenever and however.
But otherwise.. just move on. Hope you enjoyed the Chinese Exercise, get some water, but don't penalize yourself. Weightloss should be fun!!
My advice would be to just count the points honestly, don't beat yourself up, and try get back to your regular routine the next day! One day at a time
I agree with Audrey Hepburn (so awesome the profile pic) that the main thing is to get back on the wagon and not allow a little wobble to dampen your good intentions for the future. Lots of water will def help, too.
A friend of mine the other day confessed to me that she drank Epicac syrup over Christmas after binging. I am so worried for her. I think if she did it once, she has probably done it other times. I Googled it and discovered it was actually a poison! WHY oh WHY did she have to tell me that!
Not a WW, I'm a calorie counter, but thought I'd chime in.
I would just move on and make sure that one off day doesn't turn into 2. No big deal in the scheme of things, as it is BOUND to happen from time to time. It's part of the process.

What I would do is DEFINITELY rethink what a "treat/reward" is. You may want to stay away from Chinese take out for a while. Maybe make something Chinese and on plan at home. A manicure, a new lipstick, a new scarf, a small piece of jewelry - those are better rewards and won't stall your weight loss, so that you will have even MORE to reward yourself for.
A WW leader that I hd a couple of years back told our group that when she "slipped up" she doubled her water intake for the rest of the week and stayed very strict on her points...she had lost over 100 lbs and had kept it off for 7 years.
just start the next day fresh and stay on points every day the rest of the week, flex points are gone so you have to stay within daily points, and work out a little extra

You don't have flex points in England? How does your system work? Ours relies pretty heavily on the flex points (in addition to our daily points allotment). Do you just have a points range for each day? If that's the case, you might want to stay toward the bottom of your range for the rest of the week after "treating" yourself.
