when to recalculate daily points allowance

  • i know we are only supposed to weight in once a week, but i have a bad habit of getting on the scale 2-3 (or 4-5) times a week. anyway, my weigh in day is friday, but i got on the scale today and i'm down from 160.5 to 159.5. should i drop my daily points down a point based on my weight today, or should i wait til friday?
  • I wouldn't drop your points if you're still losing on the same amount. I generally only do it if my weight stays the same for a couple weeks.
  • Pretend like you are going to meetings. Have the same weigh in day at the same time just like if you were at a meeting this helps with the accountability. On that day re-adjust your points. Remember less points equals less food.
  • I'm with Aneleh.. wait until your body tells you its ready to decrease. That way you also have some play in how much you drop points overtime. Wait a week or so, if you stop losing weight, then decrease.
  • I weigh twice a week. I only change my points once a week when I go to my official WW weigh in. I've been dropping one point per week so far. Although I'm not expecting to have to change this week since I think I may be dropping only 1 lb.
  • so it sounds like some of you are only lowering your daily points if your weight loss slows. that's interesting. i thought that WW says to drop 1 point when you reach a new decade (160's to 150's to 140's etc). i mean, our points are based on our weight (among other things) right?

Daimere - how could you be dropping 1 point per week? how much weight are you losing each week??
  • According to WW each time you drop to another wight level ex; 160's to 150's or you have a birthday or your regular dailyyour activity level changes you should re take the test to get your new balance. Getting on the scale more than once a week is only asking for trouble (and yes we all do I get weighed on sundays but do a home check on wednesdays) If you are on program and doing your personal best the weight will come off, it might not be as fast as you like but remember we did not gain it over night either.
  • You should retake your quiz any time one of the 5 factors (although gender is hard to change) changes.
  • Moving toward cruisin' with NKOTB!
Unless your scale weighs you very similarly to the WW scales, I wouldn't change anything until Friday. If you've found that you weigh yourself at home and go to a WW meeting and are the same weight, then I'd say get a jump start on the process. Best wishes!
  • thanks everyone! i think i'll just wait til friday and see what i weigh then.
