Default Thin4Life - Week of May 6, 2002

Good morning everyone!

Wow, it's hard to believe that I'll be heading on my trip this Friday evening. I've been scurrying around trying to get things together. Went shopping yesterday and got some tank tops--the weather is warm in FL and I was in need of some new tops. I did manage to find capris after searching forever it seemed. I just need to pick up some sunscreen and a pair of sneakers to wear with shorts. Other than that I'm pretty well set.

Eating-wise has been a bit of a challenge the past couple of days. I don't know what has gotten into me but I haven't been that good with staying within my point range. The weekends always have been a challenge but it seems like it's getting a little out of hand rather than in control. I'm just going to focus on each day and go from there.

The weather is gorgeous here today--we're supposed to get up to 77...what a change from the 30's & 40's we had last week. I'm not complaining. I'm hoping that the nice weather will hold out for me so I can get a walk in over my lunch hour today. The forecast is calling for rain/thunderstorms later. It figures because I washed my car yesterday!

Hope everyone is doing well! It's crazy here at work since I'm trying to get everything cleared off of my desk before I leave on Friday.

Hi Melissa and everyone else. I see lala is safe and sound in Italy. I'm an attractive shade of green after reading her message.

My small office of three has been reduced to two; our coordinator's last day was Friday. This is quite possibly the busiest we've ever been, with three public meetings coming up at the end of the month. So I might not get much opportunity to post here, but I'll be with you all in spirit.

Ran for over an hour yesterday . At least I'm holding up on the exercise front, if not the WOE. Bye for now

Hi Melissa! Hope that great weather continues for you this week. We're still hot and dry down here. The only decent time to walk is around dawn, which is my usual time. Dh has started joining me every morning lately; it's great having company! (He started WW a couple of months ago.)

Lala, sounds like you are having a fabulous time!

Susan, all that running is sure to balance out a few stray points here and there, right? Gee, I don't think I could run nonstop for more than ten minutes; I am so impressed with your hour runs! (And by a ten minute run, I mean really a light jog, for me!) I usually walk fast for a while and jog a while, using the telephone posts as a guide.

Managed to make it through another monthly WI without paying, but I have no "comfort zone" at all. (I.e., if I hadn't taken my watch off, I'd have had to pay! Yikes!!) Have been really good with the exercising, but I just have to get back on the low end of my points.

Hope everyone has a great week! Mine's really busy with doctors' appts (checkups, mostly) but we're going to the Texas Hill Country this weekend, so I'll just focus on that. Dh and I are going to try one of those Volksmarch 10K walks in Fredericksburg, where the whole movement began in the U.S. Should be fun!

ttyl, Jan

Quiet around here, isn't it?

Had a good on-program day yesterday and looking forward to another one. My weight has been up consistently for a few months and it's time to get back on track - for real. It certainly isn't because I'm not getting my exercise in; I'm just eating too much of the wrong kind of food. And I need to get back into the habit of drinking lots of water.

We're finally getting some warmer weather. Into the high teens (celsius) for the past two days and I believe today will be much the same. I planted some seeds on the weekend and am hoping that I hit the right window of weather for them to flourish. We're trying to create a natural division between our house and our neighbour who has decided to enlarge his deck. Up until now, we've enjoyed plenty of privacy and we'd like to maintain some of it if we can.

DH is gearing up for another sea trial. He leaves May 21st and will be gone til June 14th. In some ways I look forward to being on my own, but that only lasts three or four days (sometimes less). Although this may be a good time to get someone in to do some painting... hmmm, now that's a thought.

Janet: I'm with you on the comfort zone. I can't believe you said that about your watch; I did the same thing!!! That 10k sounds like fun. The group operates here as well and they're always off doing something interesting.

Melissa: Only a few days left and you're off! Hope you have a great trip. It sounds like you and your friend have a wonderful time when you get together. Is this an annual affair?

lala: Write soon and tell us all about the sites, smells, sounds and tastes of Italy. I live vicariously through you!

laurel, katie, patch (who did I miss??): Where are you? Come back soon.

Good morning everyone!

I can't believe that tomorrow is my last day of work and that I'll be on my way to FL! I am so excited! I started to get things out and have some preliminary packing done...I have to get it finished up tonight since tomorrow I won't have time.

It's warm & humid here today (78 F). Woke up this morning to a good thunderstorm. Haven't had one of those in a while. The forecast is calling for more later today when a cold front moves in. Tomorrow's high is only supposed to be 60.

Susan: Lately it's been an annual trip to see my friend...we have so much fun together. We usually plan a trip to other areas of FL in search of tea rooms. We plan "Tea Tours". It's a lot of fun. This past Christmas she gave me a book with pictures from our last tea tour...it is something I'll cherish! Her old roommate joins us (we get along great) and this year we'll be taking my girlfriend's 2 year old daughter. Our destination is Naples FL. We've been friends since 8th grade (26 years now..) and enjoy getting together and talking.

Not too much else going on...just trying to get things finished up here at work and sometimes don't know which to do first. Anyway, it will get done before I leave. I went to my meeting yesterday and was up a little (.6) and that's okay...I figure I'll pull in the reigns the next couple of days and I'll be okay. I'm planning on taking a pool aerobics class on Saturday morning so that will help, plus we'll be doing lots of walking.

Catch everyone later!
