Hello everyone! Welcome to this week's discussion!
This is for anyone who wants to contribute. If you have something to say, large or small, share it with the rest of us! It benefits everyone.
This week's topic:
HALT!!!! What are you really hungry for?
Most people emotionally eat. It may be for different reasons, but food is always there to comfort, console, and temporarily relieve us of any feeling. Or to heighten a feeling when we're happy. Mostly, today's discussion is about the "bad" emotional eating.
What are some of the
true hunger signals?
-an empty stomach feeling
-rumbling
-slight fatigue or maybe strain
We're all a little different, but we know when our bodies are saying "GIVE ME FOOD! I need fuel!"
However, so many of us have trained ourselves to eat at any emotional time, so it's difficult to separate the "I'm physically hungry" from the "I'm actually feeling..."
Do you emotionally eat? At what times, and for what reasons?
How can we tell if we're emotionally eating? It can be individual, but often we're hungry for a certain category of comfort food. Or a few trigger situations have happened recently, and we do not feel our usual physical hunger signs.
At these times, we must
HALT!
If we aren't physically:
Hungry
Then we may be:
Angry
Lonely
Tired
Or another way of looking at it:
If we aren't physically
Hungry, we must find the
ALTernative.
