Default Joined January 08... Questions about WW

I joined January 08 and I loved my leader, but hated that I HAD to attend meetings. And, it was just too costly. My friends and I started our WL journey together and if they could do it without WW, so could I.

I decided yesterday to start counting calories this month. I want to be more aware and accountable about everything I eat. Points was easier for me than counting calories, so I want to go back. I know WW has their online plan, but do I have to sign up? I want to avoid the cost if I can. I still have many of the tools from my membership, and I could find some tools on ebay.

What are my options, ladies and gents?

Tamara -

I have been doing WW on my own since April 7, 2008. I also did it with a friend who had a sister-in-law who new all the info and actually did attend meetings. My friend and I decided we could do it on our own. She had already been doing it for a couple months and was looking fabulous, which is what inspired me to start (oh, yeah, and that dreaded ten-year reunion). I lost 23 pounds by my reunion, June 14, and am down another 15 pounds since then. I love it! She and I are both pretty driven and were a great support for each other. She has reached her goal and looks great. I am about ten pounds away from my final lifetime goal.

I think you should totally do it. I got some of my info for free off the internet and from this website. We lost our weight doing the flex system. I don't know which you want to do, but I loved the flex. You could google things like Weight Watchers Points, Weight Watchers patented formula. Those two things might help. I also have never purchased a WW book, a couple would have been nice I bet, though. I just used an old fashioned calculator. I used to take it with me to the store until I could do the formula in my head. I would figure out what sorts of things I could eat when I went out to a restaurant so as to stay under my points.

If you have any more questions, Tamara, just private message me or check out my blog for more ideas or you can message me in a comment on there, and I would love to help out any more if I can.

I am not knocking WW online or meetings, but if you don't have the money, it can still be an option for you!

Thanks, MamaSpank! I'm going to look over my WW stuff and make a decision by Sunday evening.

Go for it Tamara! You can do it on your own - even without attending meetings! I joined WW last Sept, quit in April (after plateauing for a mth).Unfortunately, my leader was somewhat motivational & I was basically going for a weigh-in. Gained back some weight & decided to go-at-it alone. Yes, I met some wonderful ladies at meetings, but there's some here too! So anyways ... I have all the reference materials (pt convertor, dining out guide etc.), and with 3fatchicks - weekly weigh-in accountability. What more could a gal ask for eh?! If you need any info, just ask & I'll be more than happy to help

You can do it!
