  • Hi,

I am doing WW again for the 3rd time. This time I am not going to the meetings and doing it at home. But not to worry I do have support.

I have a friend living with me and we are moving to Alberta in 2 months. Our boyfriends are allready gone and we want to lose a bit of weight before we see them again and get total makeovers too. ( I am a Hairstylist).

So far this is day 4 and we are having the best foods ever and are as happy as ever. The weather in Northern Ontario ain't all that great so we joined a gym to get in some walking and a bit of weight training too!

I miss my sweetie like you wouldn't believe, I think he will be shocked when he see's me again. One problem, there won't be as much of me to LOVE!!!!!!!!!!

    Kim..........and DEE
  • Welcome! Im sure your find lots of support here.

Lets us know how you are doing!
  • Thanks for the welcome!

We colored our hair last night and I got my nose pierced!!!!

I know it's a crazy thing to do but I tell you it does suit me.......so we are on our way to losing weight. We walked today and did a small work out. I went for 3 miles and Dee worked out on cardio and did 2 miles.

We are following our diet like crazy. I am eating more than ever and enjoying it. I am the house cook and Dee is the house dishwasher. She likes to eat out and loves that I present our food so nicely and appetizing.

Well I hope to hear from more of you's. Any tips on daily points would be great.
We eat mostly chicken breast and some turkey...treated ourselves to a cookie (chocolate chip...homemade) last night and loved it. I took so loooong to eat it...ha ha

Well that is all for now...

    KIm and DEE
  • Hey, Kim and Dee. You both sound like a lot of fun. I enjoy reading your posts, Kim. It is great that you are actually enjoying the food you are eating. I think this is key to the program - I refuse to eat food that isn't at least an "8" to me. Otherwise, I just won't stick to it. You mentioned you are loving your food - what is a typical day's menu for you? I always seem to eat the same things - whole wheat toast with peanut butter, an orange and a glass of milk for breakfast (7 points). Greek salad for lunch (8 points), frozen grapes or a couple of shakers (1 point each) for snacks and then supper varies. I try to stick with app. 25 points even though I'm not supposed to have more than 23. I also try to rack up some activity points as well. By the way, did you post the Wendy plan on this forum? If so - thanks so much. That was very interesting and informative and I'm sure very helpful to the person who wrote the post. Best of luck with your weight loss and your makeovers. I, too, live in Ontario. I just found out that WW smoothies are not available in Canada (bummer). Keep in touch.
  • Hey Andreasmom

Thanks for replying. I have seen your postings in the forums too.
We like to eat a lot.
Morning will consist of a coffee for me ( Dee don't drink it unless it's from Timmy's) and I bought some flavoured cream. YUMMY 1 point per tbsp.
Either a bowl of raisin bran or special K cereal with a cup of milk. This morning we threw some strawberries in with our cereal.
Dee likes to have an egg with toast the odd time.

For lunch I will make us either a veggie stir fry with a chicken breast and fat free Teriake sauce I make or some sort of sandwich, loaded with veggies and dill pickles.

We buy mini rice cakes and and Snackwells cookies to eat. No way I am giving up amy treats. If I find I don't have enough veggies in for the day I will drink a glass of veggie juice.

Our cupboards are stocked with popcorn, pretzel sticks, low fat nacho chips and rice cakes. Our fridge is stocked with veggies, fruit and more veggies. Oh something I swear by for plain ol boiled potatoes is Molly McButter. Dee had never had it before and she loves it.

Well that is all for now until the next time.

    Kim and Dee
  • You mentioned in a previous post that you wanted some tips on daily points. Do you mean you want some tips on what people eat or some suggestions for low-point ideas. Let me know, as I will help you in any way I can.

By the way, does your nose hurt?
  • HA HA YES my nose did hurt, today is not so bad. I did end up putting cream on it yesterday that removes any infectious crap in it. I don't think it's the most sanitary place to have a peircing.

I was totally frightenend when I sat in the chair and then I almost changed my mind. But I went through with it. I did have it done some years ago and I also have a tongue peircing so I thought of that when I the fear came to me.

I would love to have some low point ideas for some chicken recipies, I have been looking through the recipies here at the forums and tried the cola chicken. It was yummy.
I am a huge fan of Greek salad and would love your recipe for that one.

I am excited because I started WW exactly one week ago today and weighed myself this morning and I am down 6 pounds. But I will be starting my new weigh in day tomorrow because that is when I have the appointment with the trainer.
We are also going to start low impact aerobics on Tue and Thu's.

Dee just left for school (she is in her last year of Massage Therapie) so I am going to do a work out here at home alone before I do my running around.
I will be going to Toronto Next weekend for the ABA hairshow, I am so excited for that. I will be meeting all my old co-workers from up north in North Bay and we are going to stay together for the weekend. I will be saving some points for a TO hotdog, you know the ones the vendors sell outside all the time.

Any one know what sort of points I will be looking at for one of those great sausages????????

    Kim and Dee
  • Glad to hear your nose is healing (ouch!). Sounds like you are doing great on the program. It must really help motivate you to have Dee in on it with you. Keep up the great work, girls and enjoy your weekend in TO, Kim. I'm sorry, I don't have any info. on points on a vendor's hotdog. Enjoy it thoroughly, though, you have done so well in a week. It took me 5 weeks to lose that much!

I have a wonderful chicken stir-fry recipe. In fact, I just had it for supper. It has chicken marinated in garlic, a bit of oil, soya sauce and rice vinegar. Fresh broccoli, fresh mushrooms, water chestnuts, and served over a bed of rice. If you'd like, I will post the recipe and, if you wouldn't mind, would you put it through your "recipe builder" and let me know how many points it is per serving? It is delicious and must be low in points.

I will post my everyday Greek Salad Dressing recipe (and also my one for fancier occasions) in the recipe section. My everyday recipe is 2 points per tablespoon. I eat this salad every day for lunch (I know I should vary it but it is so good, so filling and gets me through the day).

Keep in touch - let me know if you (or anyone else) is interested in the stir-fry recipe.
  • HAPPY EASTER

Dee is gone back home for the weekend. Her mom came to get her Thursday night.

We had our assessments yesterday with the trainer and it went soooo well. Dee is a large boned gal and I am a small boned gal.

Well the Fitness Instructor did this evaluation on us to see our lean body mass and our body fat. It's not as bad as we thought and our goal weight isn't as bad as we thought either. YOu know how when you go to certain fitness sites and see what your goal wieght is suppose to be (weight range). Well this told us something totally different which gives us more ambition. We are allowed to lose more weight if desired after the goal is reached but it's totally up to us.

I need work on my upper body ( I am so weak ) and my abs need some work too. I never really did have any stomach muscles. Even when I was thin I always had a little pot belly.

I brought my oldest son out shopping last night to buy him a Easter outfit and we got one for his little brother too. While I was at the department store I checked out some clothes for me. I tried on an outfit and I am definetly ahead of myself yet but it was still fun. I think I am going to go and buy one this Friday before I head to Toronto.

My mom is spending the weekend with me and I am going to feed her all the great food I have been eating, I am going to make some fish for supper tonight baked in tin foil with veggies. She loves fish so I think she will love this one.

Anyways, I did check out your recipe and I will be trying it soon.

    KIM and no DEE
  • Happy Easter to you, too and to Dee as well. It is interesting about the fitness evaluations - it just shows you how individual weight ranges are. It would vary for small frame, large frame, etc. Percentage of body fat is deceiving, as well. I actually have a higher percentage of body fat than some people who weigh much more than I. This is from all those years of crash dieting w/o building lean muscle. I am working hard to reverse this equation. It must be great to hear that you are not as bad off as you thought!

Upper body and abs are so important to work on, especially for women. It can be a little intimidating at first because women tend to be weaker in upper body strength but it is so empowering when you start to feel that strength develop.

I would absolutely love your recipe for fish and vegetables, if you wouldn't mind. We like fish but have not got a good recipe - I would love to give yours a try.

Have a great time in Toronto. Keep in touch.
  • Actually I don't really have a recipe. I just sort of did what I thought would taste good.

I bought a bag of frozen pollock from the local Independant Grocers (it was the cheapest fish) and checked the point range on it. For a serving it's only 1 point.

I divided it up in servings, put the on a long peice of tin foil, sprinkled on some s&p, chopped tomatoe, green pepper, and red onion. Oh yes and a couple slices of lemon.

Folded it up in a pouch and placed them on baking sheets. I am about to put them in the oven and I will let you know how they are after supper....he he

No extra fat is added and everything else is free. I am baking/ broiling some small potatoes and carrots splashed with worchstire, herbs, fresh garlic and pepper.

    I can't wait for supper.

  • Chicken Stir-fry recipe?
Andreasmom, will you please post this recipe. It sounds like it's just what I have been looking for. I need to eat more chicken and the stir-fry I made this weekend just didn't have any flavor! Yours sounds fantastic! I would appreciate you taking time to post it. Thank you!
  • I also eat alot of stir fry's .....I will post my recipe here for you too!

This is a recipe for 2 people.

    ~1 Frozen Chicken Breast ...thawed

I throw it in a larger pot (because I don't have a wok and I need a deep pan.
Brown it on both sides and then cut it up directly in the pot.
Add frozen stir fry veggies (pre-packaged, makes it so much simpler).
Then in a cup I mix some soya sauce, 2 packets of sweetener, bit of flour and some water. Total should be 3/4 to a full cup.
I add this to the veggies and chicken until it thickens a bit and ENJOY.

    It is sooooo good.

  • Chicken Stir-fry Recipe
Tato - sure I will!! I will post it over in the recipe section. It is really tasty. I will also post the nutritional information on it. I have not figured out the points for this recipe but I'm sure it must be fairly moderate to low. If anyone can help with the points calculation, I would love it. I just had the rest of the leftovers of it now - I didn't have much - my brother-in-law came over and ate most of it so it must have been good. Thanks for asking. If there are any recipes you have or tips, I would love to hear them.
  • andreasmom,
I don't count the fiber when eating broccoli or other free veggies. Sure, when added into the recipe they might lower the points per serving by one point, but if I were cooking the chicken in a sauce and steaming the broccoli, I would still count the broccoli as free and figure only the points for the chicken. Because of my protein restricted diet, I'll reduce the chicken breasts to 1 lb instead of 2, but leave the remaining ingredients as they are. This sounds so good and I'll make it in a couple of weeks and let you know what I think. It's just me and 4 dogs, so I'm gonna freeze about 3 servings and see how they are afterwards. Thank you so much for posting the recipe!

    Kim,
Your recipe is definitely a time saver and perfect when I want to make a quick stir-fry for dinner, with a serving left over for lunch the next day. I always have pre-packaged frozen veggies and frozen chicken breasts, so I'll probably make your recipe first. It sounds great -- I think I will try it tomorrow night. Thank you for posting your recipe!
