Hi Everyone,
I need your input on whether to try WW on-line or to rejoin meetings.
I tried WW this summer. I went with a friend, but found that she began to get competitive with our losses, maybe I imagined this ( I don't think that I did). I ended my membership. Are those who do the on-line program as successful as members who attend meetings?
Thanks
I love my meeting and my meeting leader. I think the key is to find a meeting and a leader you like. And if you felt your friend was competing with you you can go alone. I do.
For me I find the meetings very inspirational (have a great leader) and there is always valuable information shared by the members.
Please do not let your friends behaviour turn you off the meetings..if she is still going try taking a meeting on a different day or a different time
Good luck with your journey
Thank you all for your thoughts. I'm going to try the meetings again - on my own. I've spent the last few months trying other "diets", having success for a week and then
I'm sure I'll be posting for support and suggestions, and hopefully I'll be able to return the favors.
I had difficulty with the meetings because I could never make the same meeting every week. Getting weighed after 2-7 days gave me an inconsistent view of my progress. I also never had the same leader/group or developed a relationship with any one. I switched to WW online and drew on 3FC for support and found much greater success.
I tried online and didn't like the website. It wasn't easy to navigate based on how I eat, so I lost weight on my own by calorie counting. I refused to go to meetings. But my sister did really well with WW online.
One of my friends who was intimidated by meetings would go to an early morning WW meeting in a neighboring suburb... she figured no one knew her there and their eyes weren't even open yet anyway
I started out with the online version, but after about two weeks I felt that there was probably info that I was missing. My intention was to go to A meeting, get the info, and continue online. After that first meeting, I thought, ok, one more. That was August of last year. I've missed maybe three meetings since then and feel confident that my losses are a direct result of the meetings. When you have a question there are so many other people there to help you out. Even if you don't have questions, just the general knowledge, ideas and suggestions you pick up at the meetings make them worthwhile for me. Now I'm counting down weeks, only two more weigh-ins to go and I won't have to pay for meetings anymore, then cost is no longer an issue!
At the local meetings in our small town, most of us know who the others are, so I didn't exactly join with a partner. However, I found that I got to be good friends with people I normally wouldn't have--because we're like-minded about keeping the weight off. We don't compete--just support.
I tried online and didn't get much use out of it. I think you can get more support here than you can on the WW site. I've been going to meeting for 3 weeks come tomorrow. I think they help keep me more accountable knowing I will have to Weigh in and talk about about my week. Can't think of a better way to be honset with your diet. It's like having a room full of diet buddies to share ideas and whine about the downfalls of dieting.
I've never done on-line meetings, but I do really enjoy the regular meetings and that is how I lost my weight (I'm Lifetime). I go to the website to pick up information. But I got/get a lot of wonderful information from fellow WW members, The Leader(s), and think that accountability is a wonderful thing.
I'm doing it Online and love it. It works better for me. I think it all depends on what you're looking for. You may be able to receive more support if you go to meetings. I guess it really just depends on what you want to get out of it :/
There is a member at my meeting who says the chairs at our meeting are MAGIK!! He says that if you go to the meeting and put your butt in the chairs, eventually your butt will get smaller I go to a meeting that more than 30 miles from where I live. I love the Leader and the great group of people. There is a group of ladies that all go out for [HEALTHY] breakfast after the meeting. This is a group of women who range in ages and life experiences. If I didn't know this group of women, who knows where I'd be today. I find that while my butt gets smaller, my view of the world has gotten broader
