Default The "Angry Dieter" Update

Hi all! So, the Angry Dieter from last week didn't show up today. My new WW friend and I were not completely surprised, though, given the hostility towards the program that we heard last week! My friend thinks he won't be back, but I'll bet DOLLARS to DONUTS (mmmmmm, DOnuts......) that he'll be back next week, and won't be seen again after that.
We also have the "Enthusiatic Dieter" in our midst - no problem is unsolvable! - which can lead to some amusing albeit impractical suggestions to some relatively unsolvable problems! BUT, the enthusiasm is definitely appreciated!
Any other dieter personalities encountered out there?

How about the "doom and gloom" dieter???! I have a friend who has been exercising for years but constantly says "I'll never lose weight, I don't know what's the matter, etc.", but whenever I meet her at the gym she's either "been to McDonald's" or "going after she works out".

Hi! Let's not forget the obsessive-compulsive type who absolutely has to verbally weigh each and every gram of food for bystanding listeners, and bores most of the rest of us to death delineating in fine detail every ounce of food consumed in the last week. AND how many calories and grams of protein, fiber, etc, etc, each of these were. Don't get me wrong. I understand the importance of paying attention to what one eats. Part of the reason I lost 8 pounds in the last month is 1) coming here; and 2) keeping track of what I've been eating on a daily basis at FitDay.

But I don't bore other people with long recitations of what I ate and how many grams of whatever it was!

I've BEEN the angry dieter! My pet peeve is how people rave on about this or that 1 pt muffin, positively obsessing over how to fool themselves they can have their cake and eat it too. Sometimes I feel like my meetings are overly concerned with finding the perfect snack, and I find my rage building until my mouth opens to let it out (or put food in!) My preference lies in the meeting discussions that help me use mind over matter, changing my thinking and my habits.

There is nothing wrong in finding the perfect snack or that awesome 1 point muffin as long as the person is getting in their 8HG (ie, nutritional gudelines). W/W isn't about deprivation but learning to live with the things we enjoy and finding substitutes that satisfy each individual.

I love finding that 'snacky' food but I make my daily points for my 8HG, my APs are for additional dairy and protein and then my WPA/FPs for the snacky stuff.

yes you can have your cake and eat it too.

I completely understand you ChipChump, as my meeting tends to focus on points counts for prepackaged foods, which I personally never eat and have no interest in. BUT, I think our Angry Dieter is angry about the need to CONTROL what he eats, and he doesn't LIKE the fact that you can't eat the things that you used to in the quantities that you want, and that you have to make some healthy choices in order to be successful.
Hey, we also have the CHATTY dieters - those who hold sidebars over every point of interest, thus distracting the rest of us and the leader from her intended topic!!!! She actually told two of them to be quiet last week! Yah for her!!!

Our angry dieter did come back to the meeting this week. She comes with a friend who tries to encourage her. Well, the angry dieter lost 1 lb., but said that was not enough. She could do that on her own without dieting. She said that she would give it 2 mos. and if she lost 10 lbs. she would be sold on the whole thing. Our leader mentioned the fact that she came back this week, she said she didn't have a choice, she had purchased the 10 week coupons.

YIKES! I'll give her another 2 weeks, unless the scales budge in a manner that she is expecting!
Keep us posted!

I have been the Delusional Dieter. The one that says, "but i stayed within my points! What happened?" And the what happened is that while you did stay in your points, 3 beers, a peanut butter and honey sandwich and 4 1pt WW cakes is NOT what the point system was designed to accomodate for a day's intake. heehee. silly me.

Did we mention the Never Satisfied dieter?

She gets on the scale and is soooo depressed because she lost only .8 pounds.

She never looks at the fact that it took her 14 years to reach her current weight and it might take her more than 14 days to lose it.

too funny.....you people make me laugh! And that's a good thing! I've experienced all kinds as an ex-leader. It sure taught me how to facilitate meetings though...which in turn helped with my full-time job! I found the more unhappy people are the more they have to criticize...because sometimes looking inside hurts a little too much! BTDT! I've been all...dillusional, angry, emotional, disbeliever, class clown (hee hee...that was the best!), doom and gloom, obsessive/compulsive, never satisfied..... Now, I'm the "kick me in the pants I need to take my head out of the sand and start working on ME!!!!"

Guys, I can top all of you! We have a member who has never lost a pound, and she has been coming for months. She is a daycare provider, and admits to eating out of the trash behind the kids! You would think that once something has gone into the trash it would become point free!!!! It is sad, but sooooo funny!

We have one at our meeting that is just about the most irritating lady... my husband and I just look at each other and roll our eyes... she has been going for 3 years but in the year plus that we have been going she has not gotten any smaller, as a matter of fact we think she is gaining weight... but she always has advise about what works and what does not... thru the WHOLE meeting, she rarely shuts her mouth. She looks like she has a large amount of weight to lose and many times we just want to tell her to hush up and let the leader run the meeting!

Oh well... what can you do?
