How difficult is it to calculate points?

I'm going to join weight watchers tomorrow and am wondering how difficult is it to calculate points?

Is it something one just gets used to and then its an automatic thing?

I'm just worried that I'll spend most of my time saying..this is one point, this is two, etc..!

It does take a little time in the begining but you get use to it. It's a great plan, good luck.

I don't find it difficult at all. You will get a starting out book that has many foods listed in it with the points values. You will also receive a points finder that your leader will show you how to use. After a while you will remember alot of your foods and be familiar with the points values that go along with them.

Don't worry, it will come too you. I found that I practiced alot at home just going through several items I had in my cupboard and wrote the points values on the box or in my book. That way I didn't have to continue looking them up.

Good Luck and that it all in stride...

I was looking around for Weight Watchers related info and found this neat little tool.

It's not hard, but I get tired of it pretty easy. For me, just counting calories is easier. Good luck!

I think that for some it gets routine, like you automatically KNOW, but I don't think that there is ever a day of "unaware eating" possible. If you don't account for it, your butt will, so from my point of view, it is better to mentally note the points and work it into my plan, than to eat it "unconsciously" and regret it at the weigh-in. This concept was super-hard for me, because I had to recognize that my "binge days" were over. Forever. Kind of like a mourning period, but hey, I got over it. I still don't like it all the time, though...

I've been doing points forever. At first you'll be looking everything up then after a while you'll just know this is this many points etc. I've lost close to 80 lbs doing WW and I can honestly say is a program you can live with. Remember if you do have a slip up it's not the end of the world just get back on track.

it takes a little while in the beginning to get used to it. Once you get the hang of it , you will not even need your points tracker to figure out points in food

It really does become second nature

Make sure not to get frustrated in the beginning and you will get there

When i am putting away groceries, i leave the products that i use on the table. I mark their point value on the box. After awhile you just remember point values for the stuff you usually eat. Good luck.

It is easy if you have a PointsCalculator of some sort (eletronic, slide or online). All you need is cal/fat/fiber to figure the points.

Eventually it does become pretty automatic. I can look at a nutritional label at the cal/fat/fiber and know exactly the points for the food without using my calculator.
