Default Thin4Life - Week of Apr 9/07

Happy Easter everyone! I hope it was great. I don't know about you, but the weekend sure flew by. Saturday was a day of cooking, shopping, errands, and then a big Mass at church (lots of singing).

DH was a little upset because I didn't want to play golf. I just didn't have any time.

Sunday was two more Masses with a brunch. Then I went to some friends for dinner. They had an Easter egg hunt for the little ones. It was so funny. I could see all of the eggs and they couldn't see them. We were all laughing. All in all, I ate too much , back on the wagon today.

I did take a Pilates mat class on Saturday and no one else showed up, so I had a private lesson. Woo-hoo.

lala, I like both of your blogs. I don't know where you find the time.

How is everyone else?

Good morning!

The weekend sure did fly by! We had Thursday through Monday off and so coming back to work this morning was a chore. DS #2 is off all this week for his break. I was pretty busy as well. Thursday I ran some errands; Friday was spent back and forth at various stores to pick up things for the weekend. Saturday morning I baked a batch of Polish sweet bread, colored eggs, and got things ready for Sunday. Overall Easter Sunday was pretty quiet. DS #1 spent the day with his fiance so the house was on the quieter side. DS #2 wasn't instigated by his older brother!

Yesterday I took a drive and stopped by Relish, where they do beach glass jewelry and got a couple of necklaces. I still had the $$ that my father-in-law had given me for Christmas so I bought a necklace with a periwinkle glass and the other has brown in it. From there I stopped and got a latte (figured I was getting my milk in this way) and picked up a couple of things from the store.

I didn't do all that bad with eating over the long weekend, although my activity level on Sunday was pretty sparse. I'm hoping to get out and walk today at noon. We didn't get a whole lot of snow over the holiday weekend but enough to make it pretty cold. Our temps were colder on Easter Sunday (33) than they were on Christmas Day (42)!

Lisa: Sounds like you had a packed holiday weekend! I'm ready to get back onto a more "normal" schedule with both work/eating/exercise.

Hi everyone. Back to work after being sick with a cold which then led into an extra-long Easter weekend.

I ate horribly over the weekend. No sense trying to sugar-coat it. Candy, desserts, potato chips...you name it, I ate it. I tried to compensate with a 12 km run yesterday; now my right hip is sore Sure hope I didn't injure myself because I barely have enough time as it is to get in enough training for the half-marathon in May.

On the up side, it was good to see my Mom and family. My niece is such a cutie; she's eight and adorable - a lot of fun to be around. I always feel a twinge when I realize that she's growing up quickly and I don't know her all that well. I may take her on a bit of a camping vacation with me this summer - if she'll agree to it, that is...

I have a busy week ahead. Tonite = weight training followed by Pilates class. Tomorrow nite is speed training, Thursday I'm going to a Jann Arden concert. Saturday I'm getting my hair cut and highlighted. All this while I try to get in as many tanning sessions as possible before I leave for Cuba on Monday.

Went to WI yesterday, not good, up 2#. I wasn't really surprised based upon my intake over the weekend. Susan, I hear ya, I did the same thing: chocolate, chips, jelly beans, wine, hot cross buns, etc. (I tried all of it).

Susan, I can't believe your Cuba trip is almost here.

Melissa, kudos to you for eating well over the weekend. I can't get over your weather--how strange is that? I was amazed that there was snow in Washington, D.C. for the egg roll.

Tonight I'm headed to a committee meeting in my town. I'm a volunteer on the Police commission. We are in the hiring mode for a police chief and I had to wade through 78 resumes. Interesting, but a lot of work. Tonight we decide whom to interview.

This weekend I'm headed to the other coast to see my parents. I realized recently that I hadn't visited them since Christmas. Will get my hair done before I go--the gray is back (ack!)

Hello to lala, Karynlee, Pam

Hi everyone,

Very late in posting. Very busy here.

I had a run in with easter candy as well. I was so good for all of lent and then boom, it was over.

Okay, it isn't that bad, but woman does not live by ham and monkey bread alone.

We had 23 for easter and 600 plastic eggs.

Very wild.

Right now, I'm overwhelmed by the amazingly huge tax bill I'm paying.

Serenity now.

Sounds like everyone is gearing back up after jelly beans. My goal this week is to get back on track and not let candy derail me.

Other than that, same old same old.

Must dash, take ernest home and for run/walk and then off to book club for dessert (um, discussion).

lala, I hear you about the taxes. I dislike this time of year just because of that payment (yuck!) Let's all move on after all the Easter candy.

600 eggs? Did you hide them in the house, in the yard or both? How many children were searching?

*sigh* Up 1.4# at WI today...not totally expected and my weight is above where I'm even a little comfortable with. I do have a couple of good days under my belt and this hopefully will just drive me to stay on track this week. I would really like to be down 5# before I go to FL and that means I need to stay focused, exercise, and be accountable.

Weather here continues to be ho-hum...my daffodils seem to be rallying against the recent cold snap and it looks like my lilac bush is hanging onto its buds.

So how's everyone else doing?

Lala: I can't even imagine hiding 600 eggs! That must've taken quite a bit of time.

Lisa: I'm all for moving on and forward! We shall overcome these obstacles in the road!

I sympathize with you guys on the gains this week. I don't even want to know so am avoiding the scale like the plaque. Eating has been a little better since arriving home but it isn't what I would like. I know that stress and the current employment uncertainty is playing a role in this so trying to cut myself some slack.

Yes, lala, where do you hide that many eggs? Are you living in Buckingham Palace?

Was supposed to do speed work tonite with the running group but I'm going to have to pass. My hips are still giving me grief from Monday's 12 km run. Guess I'll take advantage of the free time and pick up a few last-minute needs for Cuba.

Susan: Sometimes you have to cut yourself some slack. I hope the employment picture gets better for you. Sounds like you've got a lot going on before you head to Cuba. I need to get into my spring clothes to see what I've got and if there's anything else I need to pick up before I head to Florida.

Lisa: My GF sent me a note this morning that her brother's friend just caught some fresh grouper so we'll be doing some cooking at home--can't wait for that!

The weather here continues to be a roller coaster--last night we had gusty winds and it took power out, brought down trees, and just created havoc. Our phone lines are down here at work this morning--we can call between offices but can't receive or make outside calls. The temps are supposed to go up and then drop and they're calling for 1-3" of snow overnight. I sure hope that the forecasters are wrong!

I didn't have a bad evening of eating although I will admit I ate my small chocolate bunny that I bought myself. I'm trying to make sure I get enough variety in my foods and plan a little better. It's tough but I figure if I want weight loss I need to make some adjustments.

"It's tough but I figure if I want weight loss I need to make some adjustments."

Melissa: You've hit the nail on the head with this one. It's so simple isn't it? Yet everything seems to get in the way. Same thing with fitting in daily exercise, meditation...all the things that do a body good. Just can't seem to find the time, but plenty of time to do things that have less reward.

I am going to keep that quote in my head over the next two weeks and try to come home with a different mindset. Something has to give....

Melissa, you have had the strangest weather. Snow again? Say it isn't so! It's 88 here today. Wow! Fresh grouper--one of my favorite fish. When do you go to Florida?

Susan, I hope you enjoy Cuba. Don't worry about the job situation; it will work out.

Getting my hair colored and cut tomorrow. Then a drive over to St. Pete to see the parents. Other than that, not much happening. What is everyone else up to this weekend?

Lisa: I am also getting my hair cut and coloured tomorrow along with a brow wax and tint. I'm thinking I'll get something a little different done this time - maybe more layers (hair, not brows ) .

Melissa: We're in a similar weather pattern (well, except for the warmer temps you've had). Yesterday was a gorgeous day; today we're getting a mix of snow and rain and other parts of the region are getting blasted with an early spring snowstorm. How do I spell relief? C-U-B-A !!

lala: Hope you're well.

Other than the trip to the salon, I have my volunteer visit Saturday morning, a little bit of cleaning and some packing. Long run Sunday morning. My sister and re-brother-in-law arrive late Sunday nite and we fly out on Monday morning.

On the job front - it's been difficult. I actually had to turn something down yesterday and I don't feel very good about that but I really wasn't interested in doing that kind of work. And it was only for six months anyway so I would have been back in the same spot in September.

I know things will work out. But it's hard being in this place right now. I've had a headache for the past two days, and I really think it's due to stress. Might be time to see my counsellor again.

Have a great weekend and week. I'll be back to work on the 25th. Talk then.

Susan: Have a great time in Cuba! Maybe the vacation is what you need to pull things together and pamper yourself a little Enjoy the time away!

Lisa: I fly into Tampa/St Pete on Thurs Ap 26 in the evening. I was looking at the forecast long range and it looks like it's going to be in the high 80's which is 50 degrees warmer than here! As long as the humidity is low I'm okay. I'm going to start taking my allergy meds so that I don't encounter any problems with pollen, etc.

It's cold here this morning (36) and thankfully the snow missed us. I heard Chicago got hit as did NH area. I don't think there's a warm up coming any time soon either. We had some strong winds the other night with gusts at 46 mph and it took a roof off of a building. Crazy weather to say the least. My poor tulips took a beating

No major plans for the weekend--DH is working tomorrow morning so I may take advantage and go to the Wellness Center to walk/work out. I need to up the exercise I think to get things moving!
