Default 12 Week Challenge - Wk # 6 Oct 15 - 22

WEEK # 6

Seems like a bit of stumbling has been going on for some of us, this past week.

So I wondered if it might not help to remember what each of us does to get back on track... and what others have inspired you to do.

One thing that we all have said to one another - is how just knowing yesterday was "then" and today is a new day gives us permission to be human and then let it go. Probably one of the hardest things for me to do.

A trick I allow myself the "day (week/month) after" is to have a bagel for breakfast that morning. I end up not feeling so deprived and that helps to get back on track.

What works for you?

To get back on track after a bad day or two I go to my closet and put on the one pair of jeans that I kept from last year that I wore just before I joined WW. They absolutely swim on me now. It is a good reminder to show me how far I have come and what hard work it was to get here. Falling off the wagon for a day or two doesn't negate all the success I have had so far. I can pick myself up and dust myself off and continue. Never again will I fit those jeans......never again.

Patch - you're right - never completely deny yourself something - if you do that you will only eat more of that special item and regret it.

Have a good week ladies - keep up the good work!

I think it is time to get back to weighing/measuring and stopping all those BLTs.

Boy I'm with you Myra. I've been doing the BLT thang on and off last and this week.

Update: Well... the weekend was a bust - big time

M -- 22 (banked 3)
Tu - 27
W - 25
Th - 31 - 4 = 27 (used 3 banked and today's 1 activity)
F - 25 (earned 3 activity points)
Sa - 35 - 3 = 32 Friday's activity
Su - 40 - 4 (Sun hike) = 36

Tough tough week I'm going to a retreat and will have no control over what they serve. Yes - I know - I do have control over what I put in my mouth

Patch- good luck this weekend! Just enjoy yourself and keep drinking that wawa.

Trying to stay on a roll here. Lots of travel to look forward too. Trust me, even lala will be packing her own vittles this time.

I'm resolved to make my size 8 ck jeans from 1996 fit better and to make my size 5/6 gap jeans from 1991 be my benchmark I'm at goal jeans. If I can fit into those, then I'm definitely successful.

It has been a hard few weeks for all of us. Falling into habits of not weighing and measuring and slacking off in journalling and water are definitely my downfalls. I was cutting up an apple-walnut cake that DP made last night to bring for donut day . It was especially gooey and I caught myself cleaning off the knife and putting the goo in my mouth. Yup. Just like licking the bowl or beaters. I journalled that puppy and have to remind myself that I don't always cushion for those blts.

So, I'm quite the droner.

I will be in DC Mon-Fri, Milwaukee Sat-Mon. So much for my challenges. I purposely chose at hotel that has guest passes to the Y and found a WW meeting of Friday Morning. That way I gotta stay somewhat cogent of what I put in my mouth.

Travel is a b*tch for me and this time I refuse to let it do me in.

Patch, your musings on stumbling has hit the nail on the head for me. I've had a major stumbling and it seems like I'm in a ravine and can't climb out. I didn't think I was doing that badly and went for my weekly WI last Wednesday before leaving for my trip out of town..I had a 4.2# gain this past week that literally knocked the wind out of my sails. The week before was a 1.2# gain. Now, I'm hoping that part of this is due to TOM but what the heck is going on...I certainly didn't eat enough to pack on that kind of weight. For 2 weeks now I've had some sort of gain.

What do I do to get over this? I remember my little motto from my WW buddy, "Take the hit and move on." I have to say that it did play a large role in how my mindset was this past week. The biggest thing that I can do to get over this type of stumbling block is to journal accurately, drink my water, and watch my portion sizes. I will not toss in the towel and this is something that I have control of and will most definitely get this weight down again. Sorry for droning on and on. I'll post an update tomorrow after my meeting (I'm still toying with the idea of not weighing in...not sure what I'm going to do).

Well Melissa I literally was in a ravine this weekend hiking and I knooow that exercise did not even come close to burning the food I put in my mouth this weekend. The weird thing is that I showed a loss of a pound (133 to 132) yesterday at the WW scale. But I've got to tell ya - I KNOW it's not real. So I'm going to have to be extra aware the rest of this week. Hang in there Melissa, rememeber we know the scale doesn't necessarily show what we've done.

Here's to not tossing in the towel!

Melissa, I know it is hard but the best thing is to go to the meeting and WI anyway. Think of all the great motivation you will get from the meeting. Then you can close the book on your week and start with a clean sheet.

Patch, congrats on the loss. It is amazing how many calories hiking can burn. My DH and I keep on saying we will get back to hiking. Hopefully we can do a daytrip at least before the NY state winter hits.

I am hoping that my WI goes well Wednesday. Basically I've been staying in my range, but I have to stop waking up in the middle of the night and eating. It is really sabotaging what I do during the day.

Here is my week:
Mon 22
Tue 22
WEd 23
Thur 24
Fri 26
Sat 23
Sun 23

Range: 20-25

Okay gang, I went to my meeting, worried that I was going to be over my 2# limit, especially in light of the fact that I was out of town most of last week. Anyway, I posted a 3.8# loss, taking me to 143.8#. I know part of the loss is water weight from TOM but I'm not going to complain. I didn't keep track of all my points this past week so I won't even try to figure it out. I'll start fresh for this week.

Thanks for all your support and here's to moving forward!

You must have felt so great. Congrats! That is a great loss. Wish me luck for my WI in about an hour. I know I didn't lose as much as you, but I hope that I will lose at least .8 so I can get into the 150s.

I did it. I did it. I did it. I lost 1.4 lbs. and am now a proud resident of the 150s. It feels so good.

Way to go Myra on getting into the 150s!! Also, good going for you, Melissa!!

I weighed in last night and stayed the same as last week. Since I have decided to instead work on maintaining instead of trying to lose any more weight, maintaining was good. We'll see how the next week goes with adding more points.

Here are my points from the past week:
Wed: 20
Thurs: 21
Fri: ?
Sat: ?
Sun: ?
Mon: 28
Tues: 27

Myra: Woohoo Myra!! I bet your feet were doing the happy dance!

Katie: Good job on maintaining! I think it's more difficult to maintain than it was to lose. I'm working on getting a little cushion back. I way too close to the "edge" as I call it.
