mmmm...I just tried some coffee with protein powder. I added a little skim milk and splenda and whipped it up in the blender. It was good! I'm already coming up with different versions to play with...

Ah, the infinite possiblities of protein powder!
|
Howdy..I use EAS Whey Protein - Vanilla, Advant Edge - Chocolate, and Mega Milk - Cookies & Cream. Obviously you can do more with the Vanilla. EatingforLife has some great protein shake ideas. The store I go to gives you samples of any protein mix before you buy. Might be a suggestion to ask at your local nutrition store the same thing - also ask for recommendations. I have tried other powders and yep - gagged everytime I made a shake. But as you know, most are expensive so I had to come up with some pretty creative ways to make them horrid powder ones taste better (because I am too cheap and wouldn't just throw it away). Honey does wonders!

My husband just about died when he saw me do this one Saturday morning. He is coffee purist who will only buy his beans from a certain roaster in the city...drinks it black in his "special cup", and then has a wife who dumps protein powder, splenda, and nonfat half and half in a big plastic insulated container from Cariboo. :p Day and night we are but it keeps things fun. |
I have now tried it in my cocoa! (swiss miss diet stuff) -- just added 1/2 scoop with the water and cocoa and whirred it up in the blender. It was GOOD!

Another trendy protein powder is Syntrax Nectar...
I've ordered some and am waiting patiently (NOT) for it to come :tantrum: It supposedly tastes like juice and not milky at all. Skwigg (www.skwigg.com) did a taste test in her blog a few months ago, and I've been waiting to find it over here at less than £40 a tub! :fr: |
