weight question

i have a question regarding the heaviness of weights.

right now i have 2 pound weights that i am using with the Biggest Loser Workout DVD strength and sculpt section. they are the only weights i own right now. i know i could lift heavier weights, but i don't want to injure myself.

so i guess my questions are:

does the weight of the weight matter? like if i'm going to switch from a 2 pound weight to a 3 pounder or a 5 pounder does it make a difference?

usually for the last rep or two i 'feel the burn'...is this enough? or should i 'feel the burn' for longer?

should i go from 2 pounds to 3 pounds or 5 pounds or more?

should i switch back and forth from lighter to heavier?

If you are trying to gain strength, I think you really need to use a weight between 55% and 95% of your "1RM"(one rep max; the heaviest weight you can lift in that exercise). I get good results in most exercises doing 3-5 sets of 5 reps with around 80% of my 1RM.

i agree. i think you need to up it to at least 5 lbs.
