Funny moment while Lifting
So last night, I'm on my weight machine. I'm doing 40 pounds on most of what I call the "arm" exercises (but not curls. Curls have always been tough for me) up from the 20 that I start with a couple of months ago.
I was sitting facing the back of the machine, pulling a set of bars towards me set at 40 lbs. It's hard, but I'm doing it. Then I happen to look over at my left arm, and I notice this strange lump there that I'd never seen before. My first thought? "Oh sweet Christmas, what the heck is *that* thing?" I was thinking of words like "cyst" and "hope it's benign!". Well, the lump went away when put the weights down. And I could make it come back at will by flexing my arm a certain way. I got a muscle! It's not big, but it is definately there and I'd never seen it before. And I'm gonna show it off to everyone! |
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Good Going!!!

LOL! Congratulations :high:
One of my clients actually went to her doctor with a "lump"-- she had an ab showing! Mel |

Is it a lump? Is it a cyst? No! It's a BICEPS! ;) Congrats on this, it's so nice to see that the efforts are paying off, after all! :) |
Way 2 cool. See, all that hard work does pay off. :)

Thanks everyone. I knew my hard work was paying off, but I didn't expect to see such a dramatic proof of it so soon. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who had an inital panic attack at the sight of growing muscle, and really really glad I didn't take myself to a doctor over it!
Update on the "I got a muscle!" story. Today, at work I was showing off said muscle as promised. My best friend Jessica, who is 22 years old and in good shape (though does no exercise or lifting), said she wanted to see just how buff I was, and challenged me to an arm wrestling match. I am 40 years old, obese, and just starting lifting not to long ago. I thought she would pretty much smoke me. We went right handed, though I am left handed and noticably stronger in that arm. So her strong arm to my weak one... and it was a tie! She almost successed in slamming me down at the very start, but I kept my hand off the table and slowly pushed her back. It seemed clear to me that I had better stamina, though her inital strength was better than mine. We stopped because fascinated co workers who were looking on were expressing increasing concern about how red my face was getting. My face always gets red when I do something strenous! But we didn't want to argue with them. I have a feeling that I would have won in the end, but it would have been pretty close either way. I told her I want a rematch when I'm bench pressing 50 pounds. |
Tealeaf,
Congratulations!! rabbit |
Tealeaf -- That's sooooo cool :high: Congrats...
On your friend being in good shape at 22 and NOT exercising, IMHO, she is NOT in good shape at all... She may look good on the outside but I bet now that you are in shape you could beat her up a flight of stairs .... |
