What protein shakes do ya take?
Hope ya enjoy!
|
I am on a restricted calorie plan so I can't use shakes that have a lot of sugar/calories, or I miss out on some of my complex carbs for the day. So, I keep some of the EAS AdvantEdge shakes around for emergencies. Otherwise I make my own with milk and a no-sweetener-no-flavor protein powder, splenda, vanilla, and maybe some frozen fruit -- that gets counted towards my milk and fruit allotment for the day and is more of a mini-meal than just a protein boost.

I don't take any myself normally, I usually just try to eat real food. I used to make cottage cheese protein shakes when I felt like making them.

I don't take them. I love real food too much to expend calories on tasteless or nasty-flavoured fake food.
Actually I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I had been trying to get protein at every meal, to help keep blood sugar level lose weight and gain muscle. I also started doing more dairy to get more calcium. But, some people say animal protein is bad for calcium absorption. I also had a vegan roommate who was PUMPED from weight training - I saw her grow & shrink purely from whether she was training or not, and she did not eat any animal protein or dairy, nor did she consume huge quantities of veg protein. So, I'm not convinced I need all this protein in my diet. Trying to focus more on veg protein. |
I said C / other.... I use a vanilla whey protein powder I get a GNC the cheapest I could find ... It has per scoop 121 calories, 5g carbs, 21g protein... With it I will mix strawberries, bananas....

I haven't found any that I like (not that I've really tried). I'd just rather eat cottage cheese.

I prefer real food, but I can't eat in front of clients. I can drink a shake, so meal 2 is almost always a shake. I use SAN Anabolic Infusion, either the Vanilla Caramel or Chocolate Peanut Butter. I just take it to work as a powder in a shaker bottle and add water when I ready for it. I've tried a zillion brands and flavors, and I think these are delicious.

I prefer real food, but don't have time to make any sort of breakfast on week-day mornings, so I have a Myoplex Lite Capuccinno Ice shake every morning at work for breakfast. I eat a real breakfast on weekends.

I use a scoop of optimum nutrition whey, with a cup of soy milk, a scoop of peanut butter, and 1/3 cup of oats right after I lift.
It is so good that it's like my treat for the day. |
Alisha -- I read last week on another BB forum that we shouldn't add peanut butter our post workout meal because it's immediately absorbed into the system and we don't want fat at this point right after a workout... but the rest of your shake is perfect just omit the PB... I now have taken the PB out :(, I just have it at another time in the day, but not right after a workout...

I've heard that too. I should probably do that, but it's so good! Maybe I'll eat a handful of almond during the day instead. Thanks! |
