Yippee, I can see muscle!
So I was at the gym today and thought, I'll just take a look and see if I can see whether or not the bicep and tricep work I've been doing is paying off. Yeah, baby! I can actually see the muscles.
Do you guys remember what it felt like to actually see some progress? I mean, I wear a smaller size, I can lift heavier weights, but I never actually SAW the muscle. Just had to share with people who probably know exactly how I feel. :) |
Congratulations, Sheila! :strong:

Wow, congrats!!! I have been [not-so-patiently] waiting for that day myself. It must be awesome. I know they're there... and I can feel them when I flex, but I can't really *see* them yet. That must just feel incredible!!!!!!!
Yay, Sheila! |
WooHoo!!!!!!!
I *Do* remember and it is an awesome feeling! Congratulations! You have earned it!! Pretty soon you'll have your first unsolicted, unexpected comment like "You obvioulsy lift weights.." or "Where do you work out?" Yippee for you!! XOXO L2L |
Sheila :bravo: ... It does feel Grrrrrrrreat!!
|
Congratulations, Sheila! I remember that moment SO vividly -- I'll even bore you to tears and tell you about it.
Even though every wall of my gym is covered in mirrors, I refused to look at myself below my neck when I first started working out. I'd stare at my face but wouldn't acknowledge the rest of me (it's the whole denial thing; how I was able to pretend that I wasn't fat for the longest time :dizzy: ). One day I was working out with my trainer, doing BB curls. I was facing a mirror and looking fixedly at my face, not my arms. At that point, I been working out for about seven months and had lost about 75 pounds -- but didn't feel like I looked very different at all. My trainer grabbed me and said -- look, look, watch your muscles working, they're beautiful. And he made me watch my biceps while I was doing curls and I couldn't believe it! I could see the muscles working and it was the most amazing thing -- I almost cried. It was the first time that I could see muscles coming out from under all that fat. It's definitely the best feeling in the world! :D |
Congratulations Sheila!
I have a few muscles that I can see including my shoulders and calves. I can't see my triceps and quads except I can see them work when I'm lifting. I can't wait until the day when I can see all of my muscles :) |
Wahoo Sheila, now everyone will ask you to move the boxes and furniture and stuff.
I remember when I was first lifting, I was out in the rowboat while wearing a bathing suite, when I got back to the dock, apparently it was a big discussion on how good my muscles looked while I didn't look bulked up. I always assumed it was a compliment. ;) Going for that look again. (NELIE - what a cute site.) |
Nelie -- you're the fastest turtle I've ever come across! :D
|
Thanks Meg! I love turtles so I had to use that. I'm kind of nervous about going to the gym tonight and weighing because I haven't been in 3 days. I am a compulsive weigher so I have to.

Hurrah! Yes, I know that feeling well ... I could feel my muscles growing, but the first time I watched them while I was lifting weights I was like, "woah!! They're beaudiful!" ... they are starting to get to the point where they look shapely even when I'm not lifting which is even cooler!
:D it's a grrreat feeling! |
