Summer 2004 Is Here!

  • Hey LWL! I just realized that summer officially begins in about an hour! The past week has been kind of bumpy for me, food-wise, so I'm looking for a brand spanking new shiny Fresh Start. And what's a better reason than summer to recommit to healthy eating and ?

So .... I'm not suggesting a Challenge or a countdown or targeting a date on the calendar or anything like that. No pressure -- nice and easy. But if anyone would like to join me in a commitment to make Summer 2004 the best of our lives, jump in. The water's fine!
  • OK, I'm in too. I have a special event target that I'm working towards and the timing is perfect. Still in recovery mode, but moving forward

  • Oh boy Oh Boy!!! perfect timing Meg!! I was sooooooooooooo bad last week that I have considered it a free week...

I have realised in this ONE week that I am in awe and admire every one of you gals and guy who have lasted 4-6 weeks of clean eats and no exercise during your convalescense either because of surgery or injury... Holy Moly, I tried eating clean during days that I could not exercise, it was extremely difficult, nearly imposible for me..!! I have realized too that clean eats and exercise go hand in hand... Firstly when I eat clean I feel good and I want to exercise... Secondly, when I exercise I want to eat clean because I don't want to undo what the exercise has done...KWIM??

SOOOO let the summer games begin!! I want this summer to be the BEST ever!!
  • I'm in too - realized this morning that a few clothing items are a bit snugger than usual, and they're supposed to be going the other way! Time to buckle down and get back to the Trinity!

  • And I'll join you, too. I ALWAYS have tons of trouble sticking to my plan in the summertime. Maybe this will help. Somehow, my sense of purpose, which perks along during the wintertime, takes a powder in the summer. I'm far more inclined to eat badly and slough off. So Meg, count me in.

Ilene, I hear you on the food-exercise link. Even though I'm a major proponent of Plan B, I've learned that I do best when I'm eating clean and working out. Somehow, the mindset for one enables the mindset for the other. And vice versa. And it's the exercise link that sets the whole thing in motion. When I work out, I feel like I'm in control; I eat better; I sleep better; I certainly feel better. I don't get that physical pay off when I eat clean, although I DO feel better. The white stuff gives me lots of trouble, but lack of the white stuff doesn't give me the incredible feeling of well being that exercise does.

Cindy, my pants are snug, too. So this comes at a perfect time. Summertime 2004, here I come!
  • Mememe! I don't know when I will be allowed to lift again (right now carrying my purse makes me ache) but I can definitely get a good start with clean eating and cardio. I definitely need to take advantage of all the fresh fruits and vegetables out right now. I'll be missing them and kicking myself this winter if I don't.
