Hey Cheryl,
The judging sounds fun. From FB, I think Mel is doing some of the Open workouts, too. This week was a big zero for workouts for me. Nothing to do but move forward. |
I miss seeing Mel here!
The Opens are over...woot! We host the NW Regionals competition, too, but for that I just do equipment crew, no judging (woot!), and at least it's only ONE weekend, not five! (and it's not till the very last weekend of May/beginning of June, so we've got a little break till then) My back is still on the mend...tends to tighten up after the workouts and get worn out in that one spot low on my back after a long day at work. It's frustrating, as I am so done with being on the gimp list and having to scale every freaking thing, but on the plus side, I've been able to do most everything, I can row and do push-ups, which I couldn't do a couple weeks ago, so I'm making a comeback, even if it is in slow-mo, lol. We had a good chipper yesterday: 30 Front squats 135/95 50 Kettlebell Snatch 53/35 30 Push Press 135/95 50 Kettlebell Snatch 30 Thrusters 135/95 I had to scale this one all around, so used 53# on the barbell and 25 for the kettlebell, and the thrusters STILL kicked my butt! I do love a good chipper, though, because at least you only have to get through it once! |
Bumping this up.
My daughter & I are going to do our own 30 day crossfit challenge - at home. I'm looking for modifications for some things. We have weights in the basement. Going to have hubby build us some boxes. Figure we have enough equipment to get us started. The garage can be used for things that don't fit in the basement. Anyone crossfit at home on their own? Any suggestions? |
I just started crossfit last week. Looking forward to week 2.

Question - do you feel like there's a minimum starting fitness level to consider CrossFit? I like the idea of short workouts and more structure, but I feel too out of shape to try it. I'm about 230 lbs - my arms are weak (like I can hardly pick up my laptop with one hand), I can't really run or lift much of anything. My lower back is regularly sore from day to day activity. When I had a gym membership and a trainer, I was in so much pain I could hardly walk the next day. I ended up quitting because I could not do the workouts they planned for me.
I basically hate working out - but I know I have to do something. The people I know that do crossfit seem really into it and motivated. Have you found this approach helps? Can you go in as an ultra beginner? |
