I just bought the book and I am waiting for it to come in from Amazon. I am looking forward to it as I am just back from many years of not being in the gym and need some direction.

I am hoping it comes in soon!

ckatgo me too!! I think it just shipped last week, so it might be another week or so before it gets here. I'm so excited though :)

Oh me too! I already workout a little, but nothing serious and I am looking forward to having an actual program to use.

indiblue 12-20-2011 09:46 AM

I started it today!! Went by quickly, but I was sweating like crazy at the end. I already know tomorrow will be a sore day ^_^

I'm doing NROL4W and am currently in stage 4. Love, love, love this program. I've had such good results from it that I went out and bought the NROL4Abs and intend to that when I finish this program up around April. This program literally saved me, in more ways than one.

I'm still doing this program. I love it and finished stage 1 last summer, but then took a few months off due to traveling in late summer/fall. I started stage 1 again November 1 and am now in the middle of stage 2. I lift 3 times per week.

I'm not doing the HIIT workouts as I am training to run an 8k simultaneously, so I am doing steady state cardio to build up my endurance for that. My workouts are getting sooo long (2-3 hours at the gym) though between the weights and running (right now I am running about 4 miles, but progressing each week).

I really love this program and hope to do his New Rules for Weight Lifting Abs next. It's a pretty long program, so I still have quite a few months until I finish. :)

Anyone else still doing this?

I had to stop because of my knee surgery. I made it to stage 5 before I had to stop. Grrrrrr. I LOVE lifting weights--all this sitting around on the couch healing is driving me nuts. :)

I'm trying to decide what I'll do when I'm recovered from my surgery (in like 6 months...). I bought Rachel Cosgrove's book, Female Body Breakthrough. It looks like it could be fun (if you can overlook the horribly annoying prose narrative in the book--it's dreadful). Or I might buy NROLAbs and read it as I convalesce.

Have fun moving iron, ladies! I'm jealous.

DietVet...I know it is tough, but you hang in there and get healed.

Can you do core work? That's always good!

indiblue 01-17-2012 09:49 PM

I'm on Workout 10ish of NROL. I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far! I just wish I had access to proper machines (squat rack, etc) for my squats and deadlifts.

My only complaint so far is the ab work. Even with modifications it is not challenging enough. I have to do far more jacknives and add in planks to hit those muscles.

DietVet 01-18-2012 12:55 AM

Lucky you. Core strength is a weakness of mine. I struggle with the prone jackknifes though I do increase the number of reps on the swiss ball crunches and side ball crunches. I also suck at planks. Hate the things!!

This is the case for me too. I do way more crunches/jacknives then called for, and I still don't feel like it's doing anything. In stage 2 i've added in planks and some other things that also feel easy for me.

Glad to see so many are still doing the program!

DietVet - are you able to do seated exercises while recovering? Perhaps some arm work from a chair? Hope you have a speedy recovery!

I'm thinking about doing that. My incision (4" long, to the bone, and they cut and grafted the bone as well) is still healing so I want to be a bit careful, but I am thinking about going to the gym in a week or two to do upper body and core work. It's worth a try. I feel so much better when I'm exercising. That said, I'm supposed to be wearing a brace and using crutches for another month, so I can see hauling dumbbells around the gym as a very difficult business! It might only work if I can convince my man to come with me and act as weight carrying sherpa. :)

LOL!

I suppose I didn't think that part out...doing some personal training sessions would offer the same benefit, but could be pricey. :)

Ack, I'm pretty sure I know as much about weight training as the jokers at my gym. I wouldn't pay them for anything!

I did just ask the man to bring me to the Y at some point today. I want to see if there's one of those arm bicycles that I could use to get in some cardio.

I also mentioned to him the problem with weight sherpa-ing for my usual upper body exercises and he suggested using the machines for some of them. I have no problem doing lat pulldowns and seated rows (I definitely can't do one or two point rows at the moment), but I'd feel a bit silly using the press machines over in the non-cool corner of the gym. Still, it might be better than nothing! After 2 1/2 weeks on the couch, I'm itching to do some exercise!!!

I'm going to go and check it out, and, if necessary, suspend my membership for a couple of months.

Glad this thread got bumped.

Started in December, would be done with Stage 1, but had a tooth pulled and it got infected so was off 4 2 weeks. Did my first WO yesterday in 2 weeks.

I love this program and looking forward to stage 2.

I'm also going to order the abs one.
