What to look for in a trainer?

Hello all!

A million years ago I used to hang out on this board (you can find me over in 100 lb club more recently) but I always thought this was the board for the cool kids. :) And I am back to ask for some advice.

I think I am getting to a point where I want to invest in a personal trainer for a few months to develop a routine (non-cardio. I already have a cardio routine). I know that some of you are personal trainers and others have personal trainers. What do you look for in a trainer? What questions do you ask? Any advice to avoid wasting my money?

Hey Goddess,

There is this sticky here:

that might get you started.

For me, I wanted to learn about weight lifting so I found someone I could ask a million questions of and felt comfortable with. But I think what I like is that she asked me questions too: what my goals were! I would suggest writing down a few things about what you want to get out of your training sessions. Good luck!
