Are there any other dancers out there?? I'm an actress, so dancing is part of my training, but I've found I have a passion that I never knew about before!!
Ballet is my absolute favorite and I've been doing it for a few years...I'm headed to a new class tonight...but always a little difficult to go to a new class and wonder if the teacher will comment about weight...
Anyone else?
Hi... I would love to learn how to dance ANY dance - since I have no experience and want to go out some day and not be embarrased by all the young chicks in there... "lol"
How do I go about finding a dance class for adults that is reasonably priced?
Thanks
Magda
I'm a former dancer but am trying to get back into it slowly since I'm pretty out of shape. I've done it all, tap, ballet, jazz, clogging and etc. If your teacher comments on your weight, then just ignore her. Or if you feel comfy saying that your weight is exactly why you are there to get back into shape that might shut her up.
Imagda- One thing you can try is if you have large community colleges in your area, you can sign up for their classes. It's cheaper than going to a dance studio and paying up to 80 dollars a month for one class. Or another thing you can do is if you have a YMCA in your area, they should offer classes. Or look up on your city's website and they should have a community center and they too could offer classes as well. I hope these suggestions help!
If your'e in a city there might be a studio with drop-in classes...that's what I do! It's between $8-15 for a 1-2 hour class, and it really works for me!!
I'm actually about to head to ballet right now!
I know most the adult classes(ballet and bellydancing, nia, etc) have a drop in rate of $12 here. I would go to nia or adult ballet but they happen while I work cause it's perfect time for adults. Not someone who works in an afterschool program
There are frequently weekend classes, as well, Daimere! Keep looking around, you'll find something!!
Also, a lot of gyms have dance classes of some sort. Most of them won't be great training (for dance -- they are great exercise!) by any means, but it's still a way to get moving!
I'm pretty sure the last time I checked the classes I want to take do not have weekend classes. The only dance class the Y has is Zumba which I don't think I'm ready for. Lol
