Gosh, Rabbit, sounds like you don't have time to go to work! Hard to know your kids are with XH and you have no control. But I'm sure they'll work it out.
We had a quiet weekend, except for the Irish festival and wedding yesterday. The festival was a dud. Pouring rain to start. Music was mediocre, and the dancers had to be cancelled. We hung around for a bit, went into the coffee shop on the closed off street and had a latte, then left. The wedding was a much better event! :) Saw some old friends, had some great middle eastern food (bride is originally from Turkey). I did okay with my eating too - focused on the fruit salad, meat with just a little of the sauce, and okay, a glass of wine and a glass of champagne. :) Cake was chocolate with coconut (ewwww - don't like it), so my DH had my piece along with his! The rain continues, so we got indoor stuff done, though it did stop long enough that I picked 2 quarts of raspberries - most of which now reside in the freezer. I'll be having some with my cottage cheese tomorrow though. |
Morning,
It is so hot here right now, was 108 on Saturday, 105 yesterday and today's heat index is going to be over 100. It's miserable. WaterRat - sounds like you had a great weekend except for the rain at the festival. Rabbit - I hope your kids and XH get through the vacation ok. Cardio for me this morning, interval training on treadmill. I got too hot and still had not cooled down properly even after the shower. Does anyone have any tips on cooling down? I wear loose clothing, I walk for 5 - 10 minutes after I get done running and drink 1 liter of water during running/walking afterwards. I don't have my shower water hot and even turned the water to cold for 10 minutes when I had got done washing to try cool down. I was still red faced and sweating when I got finished . It's no fun trying to put makeup on whilst wiping your face down. |
Hi LWL,
Pat - I actually like turkish food a lot!! They have great stewed vagetable dishes. Unfortunately, all with a lot off olive oil.... And I love the turkish mezze, turkish bread with all kinds of different spreads, salads...they have a delicious cuisine. NOt much action around here. I went to work for the first day today after my holidays. Difficult to get into the groove of things again. And I am dead tired. have a great day all, Rabbit |
RABBIT - I know how you feel with no kids around, no schedule but your own, and you can change it, or move it around or take advantage of something last minute. DD was at camp for 2 weeks and I loved the feeling. Though the flooring and painting do need to get done I am sure.
PAT - fresh raspberries, yum. I am picking blueberries and loving it. Taking it easy on my back, I did something and it does feel better today. Maybe some cardio this evening, if I have the energy after my 12 hour day. I just keep thinking of all the things I will be able to get done on my Friday afternoon off, none of it fun though. BFL/EFL is going well, good solid first week, successfully partied on Saturday - the food was terrible except for the broiled fish, and I don't like chocolate so that was easy to avoid, I was fine with the eating. I did use my Free Day on Light Beer, and finished with a really nice salad and grilled chicken. |
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Got a good workout biking to and from the farmers market Saturday morning, about a 14 mile round trip. The 20 pounds of produce I bought sure made the ride back harder, I really need to get a rear basket put on my bike. The backpack was throwing off my balance. :dizzy: Had a lovely trail run by the lake yesterday morning. Food was ok for the weekend, a few indulgenaces but not too bad. Pilates and UBWO tonight, early run tomorrow. Finally feel like I got a little bit of my workout mojo back. Got around to some dress shopping yesterday at David's Bridal. I forgot my camera so I'll have to take pictures next time I go in. I want to shop around some more, but I really liked this dress. The more I think about it the more I like it! My waist has never looked smaller and it even manages to make my arms look slimmer somehow. Have a good Monday all. |
OMG SHAN: That is a beautiful dress!!
|
Wow, it's gorgeous Shan! :)
|
Wow Shan, what a beautiful dress!
|
Lynne, you have tried everything I could have suggested! I have the same problem. I generally shower in lukewarm-to-cool water in the summer after working out. Perhaps try putting your makeup on when you arrive at work rather than in the gym. The changing rooms seem to be ultra humid and by the time you get to work you'd be a little cooler and your bathroom there won't be as warm either.
Shan - LOVE the dress! It's so simply elegant. A great price too. No need spending a mortgage payment on a dress you will wear one time! This is a great solution. |
Just finished my abs workout and my distance/speed treadmill time today. I cut the treadmill down to 30 minutes today as a bribe for running more than walking. If I'm lazy and want to walk more than run, I make myself do 45 minutes. :p
Then, I pulled down the hula hoop and was able to go for 10 minutes straight! Okay, I stopped in the middle to change directions, so it was 5 minutes one way and 5 the opposite way. Woot! Man, hooping is fun! :carrot: Shan, that dress is breathtakingly beautiful! You have good taste like me. :D Lynne, I work out here at home (southeastern Oklahoma) and we don't have an a/c so I feel your heated pain! I make sure there's a fan blowing on me while working out and I drink tons of cold water, then I sit down with a couple of bottles of water in front of another fan for 1/2 hour or so. Then, I get up and make frosty-cold smoothies and park my butt in front of a fan for another 1/2 hour while drinking it. Then I get my stinky self in to a cool shower for a few to clean off, then back out to a fan for another hour or so. And I never do quit sweating. |
Gads, y'all remind me why I can never ever live anywhere else, especiallyin the summer! :lol

I bet it's a great hip flexor exercise too!:D |
Umm, just a warning, it's not one of those 'come back naturally' skills like bike riding! :0 We have a few in girl-land, and, I've lost my touch!
|
Shan, it is a very beautiful dress.
Hooping, I never could do it. I am coordinationally challenged. Back from a weekend in Tahoe and I am tired. Traveling with kids is not the same as "vacation"...we did have fun though. |

Anyway, it's incredibly cool! If one set of muscles is just about exhausted, just move it to a different area or go a different direction or try another movement. Ooh! I just had a thought!! I'm going to run a fun 5k mud run at the end of October and they encourage silliness. If I can get good enough not to kill any innocent bystanders with the hoop, I'm going to try to hoop through it! Maybe. If I don't chicken out by then. Okay, so now I have a goal to work towards: hoop for 30-45 minutes without needing CPR. :p (This is all assuming the race bigwigs are cool with it. ;) ) *Editing to add: Ya know, that's a really stupid idea. It would take me 3 hours to finish the stinkin' race! Oh, well, back to the drawing board for race silliness ideas... |
