Hey all! I have been sort of MIA for a couple weeks. Still persuing WLS. Had an appt with my bariatric doctor and the dietician last week. I have lost 17 pounds in one month.
I have been cleared to exercise by the orthopedic surgeon that did my knee surgery. It feels great to be back at the gym. Tonight...WATER AEROBICS!!!
So with all that said, I have a question. If I lose weight while waiting for the surgery is there a chance the insurance company will say I "don't need" WLS?
I have lost weight in the past on a medically supervised WL Plan, a few times even large amounts of weight. Once in my adult life I was even at the high end of "Normal". But I just can't seem to keep it off. And each time I lose weight, when I regain I end up higher than before the weight loss attempt. I need another tool, a little help, to get me to where I need to be and I really feel WLS is that tool.
I uizzed my doc a little when I was in last week about the possibility of losing "too much" before surgery. her answer was, "Studies show that people with successful pre-op weight loss have better post-op success." And went into some details about the body already being in weight loss mode. So she made it sound like it wouldn't be an issue, but she didn't banish my fears either.
