it will get better. walking as much as possible helps with that, or it did for me. mine was gone in about a week or so. congrats on the start of your journey!
Ohhh the gas hurts. Are you allowed to take gas-x ? ask your doctor. The more you lay or just sit idle, the more the gas builds up/hurts, so walking helps but be careful not to over do it.
The gas will definitely subside! Assuming you had your procedure done laparoscopically, they basically filled your stomach with gas to pump you up like a balloon to allow more room to maneuver their tools. It just has to work its way out. The other are right - walking will help to get things moving.
walking is good, but I may be drinking too much water too. but I am also dealing with what seems like dumping on only clear liquids (not even broth, just water, crystal light, ice pops) and vitimins. Maybe the cold from the ice pop or the chewable vitimins with the little sugar in them...any thoughts?
in the words of my surgeon [god bless the man!!!] are you having FILLING issues? or are you truly dumping? with the clear liquids, i'm assuming the ice pops are sugar free [just checking!]. it might be the cold. might be 'gulping'. probably not the vits.
as a rule of thumb, almost nobody dumps on less than 15 grams of carbs. that's ALMOST nobody. so take a look at what you're consuming - if it's less than 15 grams, it's probably either speed or temperature rather than real dumping.
you're doing great - don't panic!!! the first three months are the HARDEST. but it's only three months - you can do it!!!!
I know that a lot of people have had issues with plain water. Pay attention to what you have taken in over the last hour when you start feeling weird. I know that at first I had issues with drinking too fast. when you are used to swigging a water bottle, it is hard to take little sips.
I had RNY 3/30/10. I find it hard to believe you are able to get in too MUCH water. I have a terrible time getting anywhere close to 64 ounces in.
And, I agree. It definitely gets easier. Even in 5 weeks, there is a HUGE difference. Probably just me moving up the learning curve!
Thank you you guys. That night I felt funny, at 3am I got a racing heart beat that would not slow dow for 40 min. went to the ER and I had an EKG and blood work that was fine so they sent me home. I ent to sleep when I got hme and woke up at 11 with it racing again. Tis time the surgen wanted me to go where he was for the day and he had a cardiolgist look at me and the ended up admitting me. 24 hours later nothing happened again...so who knows. but if it was drinking too fast or th cold "sugar-free" ice pop I don't know. But I have moved on to FULL LIQUIDS and feel good...so we shall see
