7 Days Post Op
I had my laproscopic RNY on the 15th-So far, so good! I was in the hospital for 3 days and 2 nights, and thanks to the morphine pump, I don't remember much. I came home Sunday evening. I slept a lot the first few days. There was very little pain. The Dr sent me home with liquid Demoral, but I couldn't take it. The taste is terrible and makes me gag. So, I've only had 2 doses, and no other pain medications. I took the 'water proof' bandages off a couple of days early because water from the shower got inside and soaked the gauze. The incisions look fine. They are all 5 small and healing fine. I was surprised by the bruising--there is a lot of bruising, but it is fading away. The kids and I went to the movies tonight, and then to the grocery store. The shopping was too much. After the cart got some stuff in it, one of my daughters had to push. I have followed the Dr's diet completely, and have had no pain or problems eating at all. I got to start soft solids today-the poached egg was great, but I couldn't finish it. I guess the only issues I have had are dry skin-I've never had dry skin, but it's pretty bad-and one night I had horrible constipation, but the nurses had suggested a laxative and it worked. I lost 12lbs on the 2 week liquid diet pre-op. I haven't weighed since surgery, but my bras are getting lose and my feet and ankles look much smaller. I haven't had a single regret, so far. I feel so good, it's kind of scary--you know, I'm waiting for the hammer to fall :P--I am going back to work Monday-I have a desk job, so I'll be OK--I can't really bend over, yet, but other than that I'm fantastic. Maybe this will help someone--and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I know how curious I was about everything, and I'd be happy to share my experiences so far....
