Default I'm struggling with a few things...I need advice.

There are a few issues I would love some advice with...

-I am getting "hungry" now, but not for the good stuff (all protein things look unattractive) I'm craving carb filled things and am having a hard time resisting...even when it makes me sick and I know NEED to focus on protein.

-I think that this next problem has a lot to do with the first one...I am stuck at the same weight...well actually, I got a very cool, new scale for my Birthday this last Friday that says I'm heavier then the old one and so I am back to a weight I was for 3 weeks...I know it's a head game but I don't want to be this weight anymore.

-I am having a harder and harder time pushing myself when it comes to cardio...butt diving gets the heart rate up but not in the right way.

-I am dehydrated. The scale I got for my B-day measures water content in my body, among other things, and even it says I am low...I drink more then 4 liters of water a day it's not that. I have a Highly Redundent Colon and take a medicine that makes me dry but this is ridiculous.

Any ideas?

Angela

Oh Ange, I've wanted something crunch and salty, so got a handful of corn nuts. I'll probably break all my teeth out and maybe I won't be able to eat carbies anymore. LOL! Are you doing a variety of foods? I mean salads, veggies and fruit as well as protein? I have to have variety or I get bored with protein and seem to drift toward the carbs. Remember, our bodies do need some carbs, and a little carbs will not hurt you. During the middle of the day if I know I haven't had enough protein, I'll do a shrimp snack. It is higher in sodium than I would like, but better than a bunch of Cheetos. I got a new protein powder, because no matter how hard I try without the powders to get me started in the morning, I don't seem to meet my goal. I must be doing something right because my hair finally stopped falling out. The powder is PVL Radical Raspberry, it is okay just a dumb old protein powder like the rest. Put your nice new scales back in the box. Numbers aren't everything!! IMOP!! They can do an awful head game on you. You are eating small amount, you are losing, and you will if you continue to follow that routine. You can't not lose this way. If my clothes are getting bigger, then I don't worry about the numbers. Scale will come in handy later on down the road. You are doing so well, and you didn't get heavy overnight. Your body is just adjusting to everything that is going on. The stalls are terrible, but you are healthier, happier and better off than you were this time last year! Can't help you with the cardio, because that is one of my major problems. Here is how I know I haven't drank enough water: I'm cold and my finger tips turn white and hurt and I can get dizzy. I just bought some stevia flavored grape, root beer, lemon and orange to help me with the water problem. I have always loved water and now I can't drink it cold or with ice and it makes me gag. I use four to five drops in the water and it helps to make it more palatable, with just a tinge of flavor. As for the bowel thing, I go 3 to 5 times a day, always have, so just keep drinking and don't pay any attention to the danged scales.
I'm sorry you are having it tough. I still wake up in the morning thinking about what food I will have for the day; thanks to God, for this WLS. Your friend, the carb, is really not your friend and you don't want to have to put that red dress back in the closet because of him do you!!!!!

Default change it up

missangellaks,

My mother had a weight-loss surgery, gastric bypass, two years ago. She went from 340 pounds down to 160. She struggled at times too. I tried to be as supportive as I could and tried to get her interested in new things. I live in Middleton, so maybe some new ideas might help. They may not help at all. The farmer's market every Saturday in downtown Boise in the mornings are great for fresh produce and organic meats. They have meat like buffalo and other new things. This year I created a tomato garden with all sorts of heirloom tomatoes, striped ones, big green ones, purple ones, pineapple ones, all sorts; you get the idea.

Have you thought about getting involved in any city league sports. We play a TON of softball. When I don't feel like fitting any regular exercise in, I don't feel too bad because I at least have that.

I also love to hike and have hit Tablerock and frequented Camel's Back. I don't know if getting out of the house is something that you are able to do, like if you have kids or are really busy with a job.

I am currently doing an exercise dvd that kicks my butt. It is only 26 minutes out of your day, but I had hit a plateau, and it has propelled me into a very steady weight loss since I started it. It is the Jillian Michaels 30-day shred dvd. I loves it.

I did the Atkin's diet for a while. I know that eating a nice meal at a restaurant once is great incentive for staying on track. Outback Steakhouse is great. Or, if you really want to splurge, the new steakhouse in Hotel 48, Chandler's has the most amazing ribeye I have ever had in my life. Worth every penny. The best part for low carb dieters is that it is ala carte. No bread, no salad. Nothing but the steak.

I hope some of these ideas help.

well, angela - these ladies are telling ya what ya need to do!!!!!

sounds like you need a change of pace to get yourself moving, darlin! and be sure to have your protein in the morning - i still do a protein shake - BECAUSE it'll help you fend off those carb cravings/munchings.
