i have been drinking protein powder from smoothie king called gladiator. it is low carb and has 45 grams of protein. i had lost 24 pounds in 2 weeks since my surgury but when i weighed yesterday i had gained 4 back and for the life of me and NUT we couldnt figure it out. i only eat boiled eggs and tuna and 1 tbsp of light miracle whip (40 cals, 1.5 fat) with each meal. eggs for breakfast, and tuna for lunch and dinner. i have not cheated. well my NUT got the info for my protein shake, and it is equal to eating a dozen ryans rolls a day. WHAT? it told her it said low carb, she said "yea, low compared to the rest of them". so she faxed me a list of approved protein shakes. i have been drinking the bullets, but they cost 3.99 at most places and i had already spent 50 bucks on the protein powder, so i wanted to use it up. lord, help me...

I just looked at their website, and the high carbs includes adding two choices of fruit. If you've bought the powder for use at home here's what it says on the website:

That's very different from looking up their smoothies (the ones they make have 31g of carbs, but I'm assuming that's from the fruit). I just thought I'd mention it before you throw out what might be perfectly good powdered product. Just double-check before you do. Does the container itself have a nutrition label?

Since I don't know anything about the restrictions you may have, possibly take the container (or just the label) to the NUT on your next visit. Don't take it in the meantime, but just make sure that the carbs she's finding online is what's in the powder. ie. there may be other reasons why it's not acceptable.

I looked again and couldn't find specific nutrition info, but again saw a reference to 45g protein, 1g carbs.

one of the things about protein powder is that we can't absorb more than about 20 or so grams per 'meal.' so these formulas with 40+ grams of protein are actually 2 meals - and that might be a factor here.

okay the container sayes 2 scoops, 180 cals 1 carb, 45g protein less than 1g sugar.
