Default i'm SOOO grateful for this

those of you who've been around here for awhile KNOW that i don't usually make recommendations for food or products. i try to just tell you all about my experiences. but, just this once, i'm so happy with something that i gotta share it.

barilla high protein pasta. the capellini or thin spaghetti.

it's saving my life!!

yesterday was a bad one. the chicken i had for lunch got stuck - for HOURS. it hurt. i couldn't even DRINK anything for 3 hours! by 9 pm, i was hungry - and i considered having a protein drink, but since i'd basically not eaten much of anything since breakfast, i wanted to try to eat SOMETHING. so, here's what i did.

turned the toaster oven up to 400. took a small, flat oven-safe dish, and cut a tomato and 1/2 of a large yellow pepper into it. drizzled olive oil over it, then dumped out most of the extra oil. shoved it into the toaster oven.

put on a small pot of water [with salt]. when it was boiling, i cooked 1/2 serving of the barilla high protein pasta. when it was just about done, i drained it, and tossed it into the dish with the tomato and pepper, adding three chopped olives. then put the dish back into the toaster oven while i washed the pasta pot. then took it out and topped it with grating cheese [romano].

it went down sooo easily - about 15 grams of high-quality protein. good healthy veggies. NO UPSET TUMMY!!!!!!!

HI Thanks for sharing that sounds wonderful.Do they carry the high protein spaghetti at the regular grocery store's? I am sorry the chicken sounded painful

Yikes! Sorry about the chicken. I've heard a lot of WLS patient complain about not being able to eat chicken well. I've been wondering about the Barilla pastas. I doubt if are little area store carries it. Is it whole wheat high fiber? Guess I'll have to hunt it down someplace. I have quit serving pastas to my family because it is white and like eating a cup of sugar. JP, thanks for the suggestion.

UGH chicken my bipolar friend(not jiffy the chicken!) sometimes its ok sometimes not bah! usually I stay far far away
Tofu shirataki noodles are also really good and since their not actual pasta (but play it convincingly") they don't expand in your tummy!

Thanks for the tip, Jiffy. I went grocery shopping yesterday & the store I went to had the Barilla Plus Pasta on sale (3 boxes for 4.98). I got 3 different kinds. I am anxious to try it out. I used to make a pasta salad with raw veggies, rotini, black olives & zesty italian dressing. I loved it because it was good in the fridge for over a week--and got better as the days went on. I'm going to try that with this rotini.

hope it works for you! as for those of you who might have trouble finding this, i went to the barilla website [www.barillaus.com]. and there's a dropdown where you can select a product [in the lower left corner], and then enter a zipcode. it'll pop up with a list of stores in your area. AND, there's also info for ordering online.

Thanks Jiffypop,I will check out the site.I want to try it too.Anything that tastes good and has more protein is a good thing in my eye's..

How are you? I hope you are doing well.

I am getting anxious like a kid wanting my toy.Ever since I met my surgeon,I am really been excited and scarred at the sametime.Waiting to hear with a surgery appt.they are suppose to call me.

I am getting alittle worried with the holidays coming,but It's just another day with more food around.How do you make it through the holidays? Do you mind sharing how you have done this.

I am thinking plan ahead,and decide how and what I am having food wise,then I am working on a new behavior of looking at holidays to celebrate being with friends or family,hey what a concept.But for being such a foody person all my life,a compulsive overeater,these new behaviors are kindof new to me.I also go to 12 step o.a. and alanon.I work really hard on myself odat.

You are a inspiration hope to hear from you and also if others want to reply I would love love to hear from you too.
